The Legacy of Lexington – Reviews

I had an in person tour and was very impressed. The staff were friendly and ready to assist. The facility is well designed and is well kept. The residents I meant were happy. I am in research mode and not ready to make a placement but Legacy of Lexington is definitely the kind of place I would want to be and would have no problem placing a loved one.

My mom has told me repeatedly how happy she is at The Legacy. We are pleased with the caring and responsive staff. The small facility means that she is known by the staff and there is a family atmosphere. The facility is well maintained and clean. She enjoys the food and the company at meals and enjoys the activities.

Our mother, who has cognitive issues and other health concerns, moved to Legacy of Lexington in January, 2023. She has settled in well and enjoys living there. We can tell that she feels at home, safe and secure. The care staff and administrative staff are very attentive to her needs and have also been responsive to our family's needs and requests. Legacy has a warm, friendly, and homey atmosphere.

Mom moved to Morningside in April 2017. Her Doctor told her that her medical condition had come to a point where she needed assistance. Mom looked at me and said, "Let's go look at places!" We visited assisted living facilities within a 30 mile radius of Columbia and sat down to compare notes. Mom said, "I like number two". Number two was Morningside of Lexington. The first impression sealed the deal for Mom. We were greeted at the door by a warm and welcoming community that included staff members and residents. We were shown four types of rooms and all the amenities. No other facility matched the warmth and hospitality of Morningside. Mom loves the food and looks forward to the comradery at her dining table. When we take her out or stop by for a visit, she checks her watch to make sure she is not late for a meal! The staff keep her room clean; her clothes washed, folded and returned in a timely manner; and she enjoys having visitors. The medical staff ensures that her medications are properly administered and immediately notifies her physician at the first sign of a health change. The activities program keeps Mom engaged and she sometimes tells me that she has to go to her room to rest because she has been so busy. She participates in playing the bells, singing, games, costume parties, arts and crafts, and exercise classes along with other activities. Mom has always wanted to be involved. Prior to coming to Morningside, she was active in her Church Ladies Auxiliary, Sunday School Class secretary/treasurer and Keenagers Club. She sent cards and gifts to sick members on behalf of the entire Church and arranged to deliver food to families when there was a death. The folks at Morningside ask Mom's opinion and input about her experiences at the facility. This makes her feel needed, useful, and delighted to be a part of the family. Her positive outlook has also contributed to her successful experience. The day Mom was moving to Morningside she said, "I just hope there is someone there who needs my help!"

I can’t praise Morningside of Lexington enough! From the very beginning, Regina, Mary, Susie, Rick, and Tracey made this overwhelming process a positive experience for my father and for us! Living out of state and having a facility with such caring, professional, and outgoing staff was a true blessing! Planning, execution, and follow through was evident in all areas from communication with his rehab facility, medical and financial responsibilities, all the way to the clear and precise safety measures during Covid-19. Above all, this staff bent over backwards to accommodate my father and my family during a most difficult and traumatic experience and challenging circumstances. The kindness and understanding was above and beyond anything we have experienced dealing with his care. They never even blinked when he needed anything and only cared that he felt comfortable, safe, valued and welcomed. He was warmly greeted upon arrival with a large personalized sign as he entered the building! They posted his entrance to his apartment with classical music artwork so he felt as if they already knew him. Everyone introduced themselves and made it very clear that their only mission was to welcome him home. The physician, Dr. McCloy, the occupational and physical therapists Catherine and Kristen, and all of the nurses (Susie), met with him during his first few days and made sure he felt safe. Mary was a breath of fresh air and gave him so much to look forward to! Susie’s patience and professionalism were remarkable! Rick went out of his way to help in a plethora of ways! Tracey made this process and all of the details clear and easy. Knowing I can call the staff at any time was clear and greatly appreciated. I just cannot say enough to express our gratitude to everyone who helped us! He is lucky to be at Morningside of Lexington and our appreciation is beyond any words! What a comfort it is entrusting our father with the wonderful staff at Morningside of Lexington! Regina was phenomenal, and if it wasn’t for her support and unbelievable empathy, I would not have been able to cope with all that this move entailed. With gratitude, Tracey and Chip Vernon

I cant say enough about Morningside of Lexington, S.C. Senior Living. My Grandmother has another family within because of the spectacular management as well as the superb quality of CNAs and other staff members. If you cant personally rate this facility five stars then Id say youre not doing your job as a family member. Communication is key and REAL HEROS work here!

My Mom has been in this facility for over 2 years now. We have been most impressed with all the caring staff. They have been absolutely great during this pandemic.

Our Mom has been a resident in Morningside for almost six months -- she has even celebrated her 90th birthday there. Despite the enormous pressures imposed by the COVID pandemic, the entire staff has been exceptional in providing safe, quality care for her.

Jeremy Priddy, the executive director runs a tight ship ensuring his residents and families receive the most pleasant and quality experience. He has a wonderful team that truly focuses on what is best for the residents and their quality of life.

It is very hard to find a new home for your parent and move them. When our mother needed a smaller assisted living community, Morningside was highly recommended. We visited and immediately saw why. From the outside, the building is lovely and inviting. The one story floor plan inside provides the perfect layout with a courtyard in the center. Everything she needs is right there without having to use an elevator or stairs. Mom preferred not to live in one room, and is very happy with her one bedroom apartment. However, she is not in it much - preferring to be out where the action is, the people are and activities are going on! All of this is great, but it is the staff that makes Morningside special. Jeremy Priddy (Executive Director) and Elizabeth Swygert (Resident Service Director) do an outstanding job. They are always there for her and for us to make sure her needs are met. Both go beyond expectations in everything they do. I cannot say enough about the personal, respectful and loving attention she gets daily from everyone. It does not matter when I visit, someone will take time to catch me up on what she has been doing. I can tell they spend quality time with her and she is treated like family. Because I am not there with her daily, this means everything to me. Mom tells me we were lucky to find this great place, and I agree!

Our teenage daughter has been playing piano weekly as a volunteer for several months an Morningside. It has been such a positive experience for her. We really look forward to each visit. The residents are so kind, friendly and generous. They seem to really enjoy our visits and are so warm and welcoming. Mary, the activities director, has also been very kind to our daughter and encouraging. She seems to really love the residents as well. The other staff there are nice and friendly to us and the to the residents. Its just a very friendly and supportive atmosphere. The residents seem to genuinely care for and support each other.

As a physical therapist, I have spent time working in many of the assisted living communities in the Lexington area. Now that my mother can no longer live alone, I have recently toured area ALFs. I have been most impressed with Morningside of Lexington. Specifically the number of residents who are involved in activities, the cleanliness, the helpfulness of the care staff and the smaller, homey feel of the community. The courtyard is a beautiful safe place for residents and families to enjoy the outdoors. I highly recommend Morningside of Lexington.

I am fortunate to work with staff and residents in this facility on a regular basis and enjoy every visit. The staff members are warm and welcoming. They make you feel important when you are there. The facility is well laid out and inviting. It is located near plenty of shops and restaurants. Extremely ideal for a family living in or near Lexington. I would highly endorse it.
