Reviews The Pines of Mount Lebanon
June 2026
We researched several assisted living places before we found The Pines. We immediately had a very good feeling about moving our ninety five year old legally blind Mom there. She has felt very welcome there and has so much assistance from all who work there.. we could not be happier. Moving anyone to assisted living is very stressful.Tammy and her crew have really made it a very seamless process. It feels like home at The Pines..which it is!
May 2026
Such a wonderful place. Everyone is so dedicated to providing the best possible experience for the residents. Tammy consistently has gone above and beyond.

I needed to find a personal care home for my aunt on very short notice after she fell and didn’t recover well during rehab. After visiting three other locations, I chose The Pines because of their personal warmth and investment in the residents. My aunt was a big challenge, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and all the staff members were exceeding kind and patient. I truly believe they brought her joy in her final days because of their attentiveness, care, and humor. Tammy, the Executive Director, was always knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful in discussing any issues with my aunt, and all of the staff members were exceptional in every respect. My deepest gratitude to all of you, Anthony.

I moved in on Sunday, March 29th, a week ago and the Pines has exceeded my expectations!!! The staff are wonderful from the gentleman who does the Laundry to the Executive Director - they treat the residents like adults and are welcoming in every way. I do feel like I'm at a luxury resort where I'm respected, valued, and heard. Thank You. Mark

My mother-in-law recently became a resident of the Pines, after having spent three years in another nursing home nearby. After having mostly terrible experiences at the other nursing home, the Pines is a complete 180. The care there has been unmatched. Staff are extraordinarily responsive, so much so that the facility tracks and makes public it's response time to clients on their website! Tammy, the Executive Director, is a no-nonsense powerhouse, and runs a tight but supportive ship! She clearly is deeply understanding of the complex needs of the elderly (and is a nurse herself, which is rare in executive leadership in these facilities). Mother-in-law recently said to us that she didn't realize how good care can be until she came to the Pines, which is a true testament to the great work they are doing here. Me and my wife will happily recommend any and all folks looking for the best elder care services to check out the Pines!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Pines of Mt. Lebanon. Over the years, we have had multiple family members stay there, and every single experience has been exceptional. When you’re trusting others to care for people you love, it means everything to know they are treated with kindness, dignity, and genuine compassion, and that is exactly what the staff at The Pines provide every day. The entire team is incredibly attentive, professional, and warm. They take the time to get to know residents and their families, and it truly feels like a community rather than just a facility. One thing that has stood out to our family is how quickly and effectively they respond to the call bell. It’s reassuring to know that when a resident needs something, help arrives promptly and with a positive attitude. The staff consistently go out of their way to make sure everyone is comfortable, safe, and cared for. Tammy, the Executive Operations Officer, is a wonderful example of this dedication. She truly goes above and beyond, always making herself available to listen, help solve concerns, and ensure that residents and families feel supported. Her leadership and genuine care make a real difference in the positive environment there. If you are looking for a place where your loved ones will be treated with respect and compassion, The Pines of Mt. Lebanon is truly outstanding. Our family is incredibly grateful for the care, kindness, and professionalism they show every single day.

I am in from out of town to visit a family member. The place is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. My aunt introduced me to the boss (Tammy). I was blown away by the love and compassion this woman has for the residents. It truly made my heart melt. Great leader. Thank you everyone for taking great care of my aunt.
November 2025
(updated 11/24/2025): The Pines of Mount Lebanon took care of both of my parents until the end; my father passed away 12/25/2024, and my mother died yesterday on 11/24/2025. I am so thankful - they were cared for very well, with such kindness and tenderness. You could tell that the staff genuinely loves and care about the patients. It felt like an extension of family. I never worried about them. The facility is clean and well kept, and always decorated in a lovely manner. The food was tasty, and the activities and family engagement were great - my mother really enjoyed it there. Staff are friendly and competent and truly love their jobs - the overall director, recreation staff, and aides in the memory care section especially. My mother had a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Pancreatic Cancer, and she was very well cared for and about - they worked well with the hospice and always kept her comfortable. I am so very grateful to have found the Pines - they had been in another facility previously, and it was profoundly different from this experience. It is a difficult thing to see your parents decline and die, and the people who help you care for them really make a huge difference. -//-/””// (initial review below) ””””” I moved my parents here in February from another local facility. We absolutely love it here! One parent is in memory care and doing soooo much better. They have managed her medication well, she is in a better mood, and happier. Her personal care is better too - she is always clean and appropriately dressed and groomed. My dad is in personal care. His apartment is so nice! And he loves the food. Such a difference! The nursing and medical tech staff are very knowledgeable and caring. They really get to know the patients and genuinely care about them. They take the time to speak to the family as well, and are always helpful. The facility is pretty and clean, with nice little nooks to have a seat, and pleasant outdoor spaces. It is a smaller facility than we came from, and we can see a huge difference in the care both receive. All staff appear happy and are friendly and pleasant. The admissions counselor and facility director are amazing people - just so nice and fun, really get to know the residents, and made the transition super easy and quick. I truly cannot say enough how happy we are to have made this move. It is a hidden gem, and we are so grateful!
September 2025
Great caring and clean place for your loved ones! The nursing and office staff go above and beyond their normal duties to care for loved ones. Great place!
September 2025
My mother absolutely loves living here. The staff is friendly and works closely with families to address concerns. The activities director is amazing...always something fun and engaging going on when I visit my mom. After a prior sour experience in another facility, we are very thankful to have found the pines.
August 2025
Thank you so much miss Tammy for everything you do for everyone l just love here you're the best boss ever
July 2025
This facility is great! It has been such a good fit for my husband and his needs.
July 2025
Our family has had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Pines of Mt. Lebanon, and I can’t recommend The Pines more highly. In a moment when our Dad was in need of care, and time was of the essence, Tammy went above and beyond to expedite his entry and warmly welcome us. She is a natural problem solver with over 30 years of nursing experience, and it’s immediately clear that her lifelong passion for caregiving drives her to do whatever she can to help, even making herself available on evenings and weekends. The dedicated staff of nurses is top notch. Needless to say, we could not be more grateful.
July 2025
Our family has been incredibly appreciative of the care provided by The Pines. From our initial tour and intake through our experience of having a loved one residing there, we feel incredibly confident in the care The Pines offers. We appreciate the responsiveness of the staff, from caretakers to administrators.
July 2025
I first posted when mom moved in she has since passed and I can’t praise The Pines enough! The staff treated her like she was a member of their family and everyone called her by her name. They provided us with support when mom started failing. You could see the sadness in their faces when mom passed as if they also had lost a family member. Can’t recommend them enough!
July 2025
This place took excellent care of my mother. I cannot recommend them enough.
July 2025
My mother recently took up residence at the Pines of Mt. Lebanon. I met with Tammy, the director, several days prior to moms arrival. She is terrific and the staff has been outstanding. Dona gave me a tour and I was very impressed. It's been a month and my review is 5 stars....nothing is perfect of course but Tammy does a wonderful job as well as the staff. They care!! Don't hesitate if a lived one needs assisted living
June 2025
Caring place ! Treats all the residents like family !!
June 2025
We've been so happy with the care at The Pines for my aunt. They've helped us through every transition and really care for the needs of the resident. Everyone who works there has been so friendly and it is such a home-like environment!
May 2025
I have been around the block when it comes to seniors and care facilities, going back to my FIL in 2014, a great aunt from 2015-2021, and my sweet mom since 2023“including independent living, five different facilities. Here are just a few of the things I’ve appreciated about The Pines: - Great communication. Power out? I know about it before my mom can text me. Change in schedule? I get an email. Got a concern? Mgmt is available to discuss by phone, text or email. That has been so refreshing. - Management is accessible and responsive. It is wonderful to address something and feel I’ve been heard. They also pitch in where needed. - The care givers and med techs are kind and helpful with the residents, always going above and beyond. And the housekeeping team keeps the place immaculate! - The activities team are caring and engaging, not to mention a great variety of creative activities. - The weekend we moved my mom in, they had a family activity to which the employees were invited to bring their families. IMO, that creates a great community environment and reminds is we’re all on this journey together. - Pricing is reasonable and I don’t feel nickel-and-dimed. No place is perfect, but The Pines is good, exceeding our expectations all around.
May 2025
I'm giving the Pines of Mount Lebanon four stars because they didn't provide me any major unpleasant surprises, unlike the other two places my mother was in. The staff were very nice. While they were a little slower than I might have liked to respond, that is understandable, and I thought they were reasonably good overall, and a place that can be trusted.
March 2025
Tammy the director is Fabulous! Not only is she a nurse, she has a background in the study of dementia. You can tell she really loves her job and cares about people as individuals! She's informative and caring. Should my Dad need long-term care we will definitely choose Tammy at The Pines!! Betty & Joy
March 2025
Mom is a new resident. We are very impressed with the staffing from Tammy the EOO and Kristie in Community Relations to the cna’s who care for mom daily. Kindness and caring are very apparent in everything they do. Thank you to The Pines
March 2025
My husband was a resident of The Pines of Mount Lebanon for 14 months, from November 2023 until his death in January 2025. I can truthfully say that The Pines of Mount Lebanon was the perfect place for him. While the facility features all of the amenities one looks for in assisted living, it is the professional and compassionate care that makes The Pines exceptional. Under the leadership of Tammy McElhose, the Executive Operations Officer, The Pines continuously improved throughout the time my husband resided there. Tammy constantly seeks ways to raise the quality of care, whether through hiring and retaining carefully selected staff, providing ongoing staff support and training opportunities, or implementing new resident living programs. Tammy and her management team are very supportive and genuinely welcome family input. The entire staff functions as a team to ensure the best care for each resident. With a progressive fee schedule, families do not pay for a higher level of care than their resident needs, but unlike some other care facilities, additional care is available as needs increase, allowing residents to age in place. For the last six months of his life, my husband was part of the Life Bridges program, which is designed to provide targeted care to residents with complex medical issues. Staff dedicated to the Life Bridges program come to know the residents in their care and are well informed as to their needs. In turn, the residents and families know the staff and can trust that the resident is receiving the extra care they need. The Pines enjoys a good working relationship with our hospice provider, Gateway Hospice, enabling critical communication and care coordination between the facility staff and the hospice team and ensuring a high quality of care during the time of greatest need. I would not hesitate to recommend The Pines of Mount Lebanon to anyone searching for a high-quality residence for their loved one. Frances Begly
January 2025
Excellent and attentive facility! We have been incredibly grateful for and appreciative of the very personalized care and attention that our mom has received at The Pines of Mt. Lebanon. We are managing her care from afar, and have found The Pines, most especially Tammy, the Executive Operations Officer, to be incredibly communicative and highly responsive - giving up weekends, evenings, and holidays to tend of our mom's needs and to proactively provide us with real time updates. We have no doubts that Tammy and her staff have our mom's best interests at heart and top of mind, including monitoring any changes in her health that require escalated care. Tammy has given us incredible peace of mind; the depth of her experience and compassion have been readily apparent from our first interaction with her and consistent over the past few months that our mom has been at The Pines.
December 2024
Where do I even start?! This place is GORGEOUS on the inside and out literally! The staff are incredible and very caring when it comes to their residents and their families. The management team is PHENOMENAL, especially Tammy McElhose the Executive Operations Officer! She goes out of her way to make sure everyone who resides at The Pines is comfortable, safe and treated fairly! 5 stars all across the board!
December 2024
We wish to thank Tammy, Will and the entire team at the Pines for making my parents feel welcome in their new home. They worked through the holiday weekend to ensure my parents' transition went well. Special thanks to the day and night support staffs for attending to their needs. Thanks to all of you!
December 2024
I cannot say enough about Tammy McElhose the Executive Operations Office at The Pines of Mt Lebanon! We toured the facility and absolutely loved it! We were on a time crunch to get a place for Mom that was cozy and inviting. This place was it; mainly because of Tammy. She went above and beyond. Responded to our questions immediately even late night weekend texts! Tammy came thru! So accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. Thank you Tammy
November 2024

November 2024
Excellent thanks Tammy
October 2024
I would highly recommend the Pines of Mt. Lebanon to anyone looking for assisted living options. The staff members are professional but also genuinely compassionate. The staff truly care about the residents! As our mother’s condition declined, the staff were there to support her increasing needs. The staff, including housekeeping, aides, med techs and the Director, made a significant difference in the quality of our mom’s life when we could not be with her. Our mom was surrounded by kindness and support. Our family is truly grateful for their kindness.
September 2024
Kristie , the director goes above and beyond what is expected of her . She is very professional, friendly and very accommodating and her door is always open . She has taken such good care of my brother Russ . Your help is very much appreciated . Sandy Sansotta

April 2024
I couldn't have chosen a better place to have my mom there to be cared for and make new friends at first there was some issues with the older management and staff but Tammy who came in and totally turned that place around for the better the place looks immaculate the staff really cares about the residents that live there very attentive to their needs. My mom who is diagnosed with dementia and was taking a turn for the worse Tammy was the one who set up everything to have hospice Gateway hospice come in and take care of my mom the last 3 months of my mom's life Tammy was very caring and catered to my mom's needs. If it wasn't for Tammy's understanding and knowledge of what a family goes through during those difficult times our family would have dealt with this in a whole different way but Gateway hospice and Tammy and the staff at the Pines treated us with the with respect and treated us as we were the ones who was experiencing what my mom was going through and guided us and communicated with us in every step of the way. I miss my mother with all my heart it's been 4 weeks since she passed and it still seems so surreal but the love and the support and the thoughts and the care we as a family and especially my mom received is unimaginable that we would have received that at any other place. To the staff at the Pines to Gateway hospice and to Tammy and the very sweet lady at the front desk who always gave my mom treats who always checked in on my mom when I called to see if she could thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking care of my mom from the beginning and to her very last breath.
April 2024
Every part of this staff is excellent! They take the best care of our family members who have lived there for almost 3 years. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants the most amazing care for their family.
March 2024

March 2024
The Pines' Tammi, the exec director is a caring, friendly director. She looks out for her residents. She provides meaningful, fun activities.
February 2024
The Pines has been amazing with my Dad. He’s been a challenge to the staff, but they have always been professional and helpful in taking care of him. The Director, Tammy McElhose, does a phenomenal job. She pulls no punches. If there is an issue or problem, I have talked to her about the issue and it is resolved immediately. I appreciate all of her support and assistance. She is an excellent administrator!!!
January 2024
My father started his journey into dementia/alzheimer’s a couple of years ago. After a 2 week stay in the hospital we were told that he could no longer live on his own. We scrambled to find a place for him that we felt comfortable with and that he could afford. After a year at another facility, we moved him to The Pines of Mt. Lebanon. It was a night and day difference for him and for us. The staff is always attentive and knows the things that trigger my father to become uncooperative and withdrawn. Not living anywhere near Pittsburgh, it is very calming to know that the team at the Pines is very well trained, caring and genuine when it comes to his condition and his needs. I couldn’t be happier with the Pines, their staff and their leadership. Tammy McElhose, the Executive Director, has been a godsend for me and my dad. She’s dedicated beyond belief and understands difficult situations. She’s a pleasure to deal with. If you are in a situation where a loved one needs to be in an assisted living facility in Pittsburgh, this is THE spot.
December 2023
I don’t usually do reviews but this is deserving of a review. I called your bldg tonight expecting to leave a message instead a lovely lady answers. Come to find out my friend gave me the wrong number and I called your executive officer Tammy- she was out shopping but still took my call. If I didn’t know better I would think she was an Angel. The level of compassion and understanding she showed me even though she couldn’t help me because my loved one will need Medicaid, She calmed me down and gave me names of other bldgs to call. You truly do have an Angel in Tammy and if she treats everyone like she treated me, you got yourself a gem .
November 2023
I heard from a friend and coworker whose father is there at the Pines of Mt Lebanon. How pleased she was with the care her dad was getting. Her name is Michelle Walthour. She has helped me so very much. She gave me name of a woman in charge named Tammy Elhose. She is a wonderful lady and very helpful and sympathetic to what I was going through having to do this. My dad has only been there 3 days and my mind is at ease knowing he is getting the best care. Thank You to The Pines for everything!!! ™°™
November 2023
This is a beautiful place . The new nurse administrator Tammy has the biggest , caring heart of anyone I have ever met .
November 2023
Lovely community that offers assisted living and memory care. I toured both. Residents were happy. Love the area and convenience to dining and shopping. Would recommend checking it out when looking for a loved one.
May 2023
This is to the owner. I have had a horrible experience with your administrator staff. They Lost my father's fiduciary monies papers . Now for 2 weeks they' ve told me they ll get them I come there Melissa says Autumn has them. Then she says she ll go get them does nt come back. I find her she says there in her office but can't find them but will bring them to our house. Bold face lies. As she did neither. . I then get her boss Lorraine involved to help she says they will go through her office and if they don't find them they ll look Monday So no papers Autum tells her it must of been someone else papers she must of not had them it was someone else. Another week goes by no phone call till I say gonna post a review. Then I get a call they will look in Melissa's office but she's off and they did nt know it and no keys . So I let tuesday go by I let Wednessay go by. I call all three administers thursday get voice mail. I call receptionist and say if I don't get a call back I'm posting a review. Only then do I get a call. Here now it's Friday's there always in meetings but is our emergency a su. Let's hope sobject prob not. Receptionist says my brothers there one day visiting. Call my brother he's at home. No one here knows how to do a simple job. Are they or you going to do anything to rectify this lousy mNagement. Like a months free rent your place has cost my mother money she could have to pay for this place since we can't get money till these papers are sent in. Will you do the right thing and look into this fiasco or just say your sorry which does us no good and will have to make my dad leave when there funds run out?
July 2022
The Pines of Mount Lebanon has been a breath of fresh air . I have been very pleased with the level of care and service that my mother has been receiving. The staff has been very friendly and accommodating to my mom . I highly recommend The Pines of Mount Lebanon.
May 2022
So grateful for the care that my mom is receiving at the Pines. It is a beautiful facility close to home. Everyone is kind and makes you feel like part of the family. Thank you to everyone who works there for all that you do.

July 2020
I checked out numerous Assisted Living Centers around the Mount Lebanon PA area from December 2019 thru January 2020. Stephanie Steiger at The Pines of Mt Lebanon provided me great information on how to get Veteran Benefits for my Dad, who served in the Korean War. (As a result, we did obtain VA benefits to help pay for their expenses). After checking out several centers, we made the decision to place our parents in The Pines mid March, around the COVID-19 crackdown. Belinda McQuaide and staff have taken excellent care of our parents.
March 2020
The community is a hidden gem in Mt. Lebanon. The staff is caring and kind. It is odor free and very clean.
October 2019
August 2019
This is a great community! Small enough so that our loved one isn't lost in the shuffle, yet large enough to offer great activities and interaction.
August 2019
I am so appreciative. I find the managers always available and they keep following up to make sure things are good. My family is there because I can’t be available all the time. They give the support needed.
September 2016
They have been very responsive when I had a difficulty and rectified the situation clearly. The staff they have works so hard and my mom has bonded with a few of the girls. She's happy so I'm happy!
