Walden's View – Reviews
August 2024
Well. I have to agree with a lot of the poor reviews. At first when my m i l came there all seemed semi okay, The key thing to do is to do spot checks when they least expect you to come. At the near year end of my m i l death I would find her all wet or lying in her feces. I was so pissed. If I wouldn't have come by that time how long would she have lied in her bed like that. I would find her sitting in her chair with her breakfast food still in front of her when it was med afternoon., and her head down in it. So many uncalled for things. One aide and I got into it one Saturday when I asked her to change my m i l. She actually told me she did not have time to do it or wait for some one else to come. Well, when she passed we were told to get all her belongings out they had put them in their storage. We had bought her a brand new area rug and paid 200.00 for it. Well low and behold no one never knew what happened to it and to this day they never reimbursed me back for it. So, I wonder who has it. Hope you are enjoying it!!! I have been wanting to vent for almost two years now. I was very fair with all of you. I cannot help you were and are understaffed, but don't take it out all our loved ones or us!! Some aides are super super nice and work hard and others are as lazy as they come. See if you leave this review up.

Well, where should I begin. So, so many transitions going on in this place and probably for a good reason or two. Start from the the top of the line, the owner. Now how often do you see him and what does he do for Waldens View beside collect all the money off of all these people that get terrible care, terrible food, and no attention from the so called aids and of course the administration too. Do you ever see the food they are given to eat, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Oh, and activities, now how often do these poor people really do anything at all.

Well, how could it be that there are almost 40 cases of covid going around there and we were not notified. What you only inform the residents families that have the covid. I would honestly like to know how often you test your employees for covid or are they not boostered up;. Why are not the residents boostered either. No one seem s to follow protocol. You get a differernt answer answer offof a different med tech, administrator, or aid no matter what the question. By the way, have housekeeping start cleaning the rooms better also, not just the community center and the downstairs.

Everyone knows how difficult the times are in senior care right now. I, too, have been frustrated with phones not answering at Waldon’s and the staff seemingly non existent (By the way, I’ve discovered, they are not in the halls kibitzing , they are in the residents’s rooms taking care of the most needy). I want everyone to know that my mother fell there (her own stubbornness to not use her walker)and fractured a bone in her pelvis. She went to UPMC who over-medicated her and recommended Hospice. Thank the Heavens for Rob. He went to UPMC to see mom, suggested a change of meds and encouraged her to return to Waldon’s. We are eternally grateful for Rob’s advice. She was back at Waldon’s only one day when she was wheeling herself to breakfast! The staff may not be at your beck and call, but the residents’ welfare is their primary call.

Why is it you have all the 5 star reviews and won't show any problems. We have had issues with them for a long time. Understaffed, the staff that's there a lot of them do not even have a moment to spend time with you on a one on one basis. My loved one s room at times, smelled, their wash wasn't being done. I do not want to hear you are understaffed. Are you understaffed when you take the money for wash not being done that week? There are just so many issues there and they are not good. There is a covid case and they tell you only one, but I don't believe that. I believe that staff is not getting tested regularly. Yes, when they know you are coming in they make it look ok, but when you do spot checks that is another story. Someone from the top needs to monitor this place. The phone at reception test is a joke. No one ever answers, especially now that they are taking turns once in a while to answer. The next step is The BBB

I would like to remain unknown. I just want to let you know there are times where I am okay with Waldens View and other times I am not happy. For one thing, they are very understaffed. Now, that we can make spot checks again and are not on their schedule and what time we can come in. I tried one or many days to get a hold of my loved one there, but to no advail her phone went un answered. The phone at lobby either doesn't answer or just do not have a good answer on any question. No one seems to know anything. By the way when I came in, I used side door just to see if it was open or if I would get stopped. Of course no one around and anyone could have walked in. A gentleman that lived there kept opening the door and going out back with no helper. They have not had a doctor just to check the patients out for so long. I had to take my loved one to our own doctor. I have gone to her room and have found poop over floor, toilet all dirty, etc Some of the aides are vey nice and helpful, but others shouldn't be doing that

We moved my Father in Law into Waldens View when after 5 years living with us, we couldnt care for him properly. They were wonderful from showing us the facility virtually because of the pandemic, to getting him situated comfortably into his new home. Easing our fears and keeping him safe and cared for. Enjoying the delicious meals and social distancing activities. We made the right choice in choosing Waldens View.

I read some of the less than stellar reviews on here and frankly, Im quite surprised because my experience at Waldens View with my grandfather was nothing but pleasant. Those comments are older, maybe the management or staff turned over since then? Not sure. All I can say is that everything currently happening at Waldens View is fun, clean, and safe. My grandpop is quite happy there. Not sure what else you could ask for.

Just wanted to alert others who might be looking to move their loved ones into an assisted living place to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! My mom had to be moved quickly because her other place she lived was closing within 30 days. We found this place and thought it looked nice. She was guaranteed a private room, however, when she finally moved in Dec. 16, she had a roommate. Died from COVID Jan. 10. Their staff does not return calls or even answer the phone - very poor personnel, from their administrator down to their concierge.

My review is for the Memory Care facility. I had to move my father out of his home after a fall which resulted in other medical issues. Unfortunately, he didn't recover, declined rapidly, and was only at Walden's View for less than a month before he passed away. This was all happening when COVID-19 restrictions began. I found the Memory Care facility to be clean and well maintained while offering a home-like environment. The staff was always accommodating, caring and responsible; and, they kept my father safe and comfortable.

After many months of using an in home caregiver for mom we decided we just couldn't do it anymore. My mom was lonely an we were all snapping with each other. Since we moved her to Waldens view she is like a new person. She has made some new friends, goes to all kinds of activities they have an even has gained some weight.....thanks to everyone there it was a great decision for our family

I have been going to this building for more than 10 years. I have seen a great change and improvement in the years since Walden's View took over. The building has been renovated and has a home-like feel. The staff is very caring as well.

This building has been renovated beautifully. The staff is very caring, and the owners are responsive to the needs of the patients. The activities director has a ton of energy and always has things for patients to do. It is a great building to work with!
