We have a very special friend here we come up at least once a week to visit
December 2023
I am extremely disappointed in the care of my parent. The bathroom constantly smells like urine. The closet door is constantly broken and off the hinge. No one makes sure that they drink enough water (the cup is always full and just sitting there. I would appreciate if a nurse could encourage drinking… Maybe a drinking game?). There aren't many activities that we noticed that my parent is involved in. The evening nurse barely spoke and wasn't friendly at all. I felt like I was bothering her when my parent needed something…not friendly at all. .Also, the phone coverage is almost non-existent when you call to speak to your loved one. It's been months since I actually had someone even answer the phone so that I could speak to my parent. This is really disappointing during the holidays. What a depressing place.

I was very impressed with the patient care update meeting for my client who is a patient at Frey village. The meeting included the patient, the treating physician, the finance person, the physical therapist, the care support person, and the family members of the patient. The meeting lasted nearly an hour and was extremely exhaustive and exploring the current condition of the patient and exploring all the options. The meeting concluded with alternative plans to follow depending upon decisions by insurers and the results of various tests. A very well run detailed meeting that thoroughly educated the patient and the family members and addressed all of the patient's concerns and that of the family.

Depressing place! The rooms get worse in the memory care unit. The closets are falling apart and have come off the hinges several times, creating a dangerous situation if the doors were to fall down completely. There doesn't seem to be any initiative/plan for the new owners to upgrade patients' rooms (it's as if they just expect them to die soon, so why bother making their living quarters more aesthetically pleasing?). It felt more like an asylum when you walked into the patients' rooms. The clothes basket was missing from my mother's room; the comforter was filthy, but cleverly hidden under another bedspread; and she didn't have ANY bras in her drawers after she was bought new ones. She also had a pile of clothes and a pair of shoes in there that weren't hers. When we took them out to the aesthetically pleasant nurse's station, we expected someone to say "here, let me take those for you." Instead, they looked at us with a confused stare and just said oh... We don't know ... That's when I asked them to take them (I'm sure someone could read the labels on the clothing and take them to the right people.) I don't know who helps the patients dress, but my mother was going out to lunch and she had two different socks on, a pair of sweat pants and a fancy top (with stains on it). (Really???...anybody doing the wash???) Her hair was barely brushed, too. There also weren't many staff working. I have a really hard time leaving her in that place. It's agonizing. At least they should make sure that the residents are wearing clean clothes and that all of their dirty laundry is being washed and brought back to them regularly. June 2022 update... The closet door is STILL broken. The door can be put on its track, but it won't stay on the track, because it's BROKEN. It's no wonder the owners of nursing homes make so much in profit when so little effort goes back into upgrades.

I could not say enough nice things about Frey Village, the care that my mother received was far beyond anything that myself and family expected. The nursing staff there was great, very compassionate, and can tell they are lead by an excellent DON who really cares for the residents, under there care. The therapy team was fabulous as well, they were on point and very encouraging. Facility was clean, the food was okay, but they do the best they can to please everyone. Would recommend to anyone looking for a facility.
