I arranged for my mother to come here from the hospital as she had developed medical conditions that made her very weak and needed rehabilitation and therapy before she could go home. I had previously asked around and they were recommended to me by reliable sources. We spent a little over 2 weeks here. The therapy group met with us on day 1 and came up with a therapy plan. I had a list of what areas I thought she needed the most help with and they were able and willing to incorporate those areas into the treatment plan. I was welcome to come along with her to therapy and got a pretty good education on ways to create a safer environment for her at home as well as quite a few to tips on the best and safest ways to use DME. It was easy to see that they specialize in therapy for the elderly, and they were very good at it. Their Social Services and Business girls have a solid understanding of Medicare and Medicare advantage plans and were very helpful in working with the therapy group to identify and help us get the DME that we needed for at home. They also setup in home nursing and therapy for us after she got home. They were very responsive to questions and concerns, kept us very well informed about the next steps we needed to take, and were very supportive throughout our stay. Some of the nurses and CNA's gave me some good tips on how to care for the elderly that I didn't know; easier ways for them to take meds and help with personal care. The majority of the staff was easy to approach and would give assistance when you needed something. There are plenty of activities available for those who want to participate in them and the meal selection options are not bad. There were shifts where the nurses and CNA's were spread thin and a few difficult personalities to deal with, but overall it wasn't a bad experience. I was free to come and go as I pleased and stay as long as I wanted to. It took us a day or two to learn and understand their system; what times the nurses and CNAs were the busiest, how everything worked with the meals, showers, and personal assistance for the residents. Once I understood the system I really didn't have a problem working with it. A five-star scale is not a good way to rate a facility like this. Five is a perfect score and they weren't perfect. There is room for improvement in some areas. But they were definitely better than a four, and the good aspects that I mentioned above were that good that they made up for the things that weren't perfect. One idea for the suggestion box would be to put a monitor or whiteboard on the wall by each nursing station that would display the nurse and CNA on duty for each wing on each shift. It could be updated at the beginning of each shift within a matter of minutes and would be a great tool for communicating this info to the residents and their families. Also a board in each room with special instructions for each resident like with hearing aid, glasses, dentures, etc. so all personnel on all shifts know to follow the same process might be helpful. The WiFi and cable TV channel selection is decent but something to improve cell phone service is very much needed. Lastly, just a suggestion for anyone who might read this, and needs to put an elderly family member in ANY facility for rehab and therapy, would be to spend some time there with your family member and get involved with what's going on. An elderly person is going to have trouble advocating for themselves, learning how things work on their own, remembering things they are shown, in most cases probably doesn't want to be there, and might need encouragement from someone they know. Your involvement will make it better for them. It worked for me. While I was there I learned a lot from what they showed me and from watching, listening, and observing how things were structured. My mother was rehabilitated to a much better state than what she was in when she came here 2 weeks earlier. We got the end result we came for.

I find it absolutely mind boggling that with what facilities like this charge, that every guest room does not have TV's and that we are told to bring our own. These people are old...watching TV is probably the only entertainment they have. And when you do bring your own, you also have to bring your own cable and no one there can tell you how to access the channels. And seriously....don't bother to ask for a glass of water. Epic fail.

The Manor has been providing excellent care to several family members, including my father who is a current resident, since the 1980s. My grandparents were there; my mother was a resident for 10 years, and my aunt was there recently as well. The staff is outstanding in creating a home-like environment and I have and would recommend this facility to everyone.
