I’m really grateful for Jason T. and everyone at Ecumenical for helping my mom through a very difficult transition. From my first online inquiry, Jason was great. Every time we visited, he knew every resident by name, whether they were in independent living or personal care. You can tell he genuinely cares about the people who live there. Not long after my mom moved into independent living, she had a medical emergency and ended up needing personal care much sooner than expected. Jason even checked in over the weekend to see how she was doing When my mom was discharged from the hospital over a holiday weekend, I was completely overwhelmed trying to figure everything out, especially her medications. Jon and Stephanie made the move to personal care so much easier. I literally handed them a paper box full of medications in tears and they took care of disposing expired medication, and what was no longer valid. It was such a relief knowing my mom was safe and everything was being handled. My mom has had multiple medical issues and has spent more time in the hospital than at Ecumenical. Through all of it, the staff have been supportive, honest, and patient. As a caregiver, one of the biggest things for me is knowing my mom is safe and that the staff will be honest with me. They take time to answer questions and support family members too. There were times when I was trying my best to stay strong for my mom while quietly falling apart myself. One nurse stayed with my mom while another stepped out of the room with me, let me cry, listened, and helped me work through what needed to be done next. The front desk staff deserve recognition too. They are always friendly and knowledgeable. Whether I had a question, needed help finding someone, or just needed to be pointed in the right direction, they were always willing to help. Something else I appreciate is that if they don’t know an answer, they don’t make one up. They’ll tell you they don’t know, find out, and get back to you. It’s been about six months since my first inquiry, and Jason still checks in and answers my questions. That kind of support is hard to find. Thank you to Jason, Jon, Stephanie, the nurses, front desk staff, and everyone else who has helped my mom and our family along the way.

When it became clear that my wife and I needed a place with more care available to us we started looking near where we lived. We could find nothing that seemed to meet our needs. Our families had experience with the Country Meadows organization and Ecumenical Retirement Community in particular. Family members visited and were impressed with Jason's knowledge and enthusiasm for helping people find what they needed. From another state we contacted Jason and began the process to get a place. We found our questions answered quickly and clearly. Our application was handled smoothly and positively. Upon arriving here we have been impressed with everyone. The staff is welcoming and very helpful. All other residents have been friendly and offered help and advice all of which has been wonderful. We are already calling Ecumenical home.

I am more than happy and honored to write a review that is for Ecumenical in general and specifically calling out Treva Nell. A couple years back, my brother and I moved our Father into the Ecumenical community. He was hesitant at first as he did not want to give up his individual freedom. But the move was necessary for his safety. Very quickly he adapted to the family community at Ecumenical and didn't only begin to enjoy his experience, he thrived in it. This transformation was a direct correlation to the staff and their attentiveness to him and their overall positive nature He did pass away a couple years ago, and my brother and I were pleasantly surprised as some of his Ecumenical friends and even staff members attended his service. Fast-forward to current day. A few weeks ago, our mother's significant other passed away leaving our Mom suddenly alone in her home. She has dementia that is advancing rapidly, and we knew that we needed to get her into a safe environment as quickly as possible. Like our Father, she was very against this move and wished to remain in her home environment. We immediately reflected on our prior positive experience with Ecumenical and reached out to them, explaining our sudden predicament. Enter Treva Nell. Treva is a god-send. Within the same week of that call, Treva agreed to drive to Duncannon and meet my brother and I at our Mom's home so that she could evaluate the situation. Collectively, we made a great first step in stressing to our Mom that we wanted her in a safer environment. Simultaneously, Treva wove in commentary about Ecumenical and all the positivity around the community as well as the activities and other features that made it appealing. We immediately started the process of completing the necessary paperwork while Treva began taking steps to get an available room prepared for our Mom. Every day and hour mattered, as we stressed about her being alone during this small interim period. All necessary requirements were completed with the exception of one item. We struggled in getting necessary paperwork faxed from our Mom's doctor's office to Ecumenical. After many communications with the office resulting in unsuccessful results, Treva offered and went out of her way to drive herself to the office in Duncannon to personally pick up the last needed paperwork. This allowed us to move our Mom into Ecumenical the very next day. Just like with our Father, our Mom is struggling with the transition, as anyone would with this type of life changing event. however, Treva and all the nursing staff there have worked so closely with our Mom over the past 2 weeks to slowly but surely acclimate her. They are all so patient and so friendly. Everyone you speak to is genuinely in support of taking care of our Mom. My brother and I are beginning to have peace of mind in knowing that she is safe. We also know for certain she is 100% supported which is beyond comforting. Ecumenical's commitment to working with our Mom to help her thru this transition has been phenomenal. Kudos to Ecumenical as their level of commitment and patience is the same today (with our Mom) as it was a few years ago (with our Dad). We are beyond grateful!

Ecumenical is not just a retirement home, it's a community. With opportunities to be as busy (or not) as you wish. The staff is exceptional and the living accommodations are warm, inviting and clean. You walk into Ecumenical and sense the cleanliness and the positive atmosphere right away. On a nice day the residents are out on the front porch area talking and chatting and greeting all who come to visit with a smile and a personal greeting. Ecumenical is a well run home that I'm proud to tell my friends and acquaintances that my mother lives there. My father spent his last dementia year there and the staff could not have been more caring. He was well cared for till the end and I'll always be grateful for the care he received. My father-in-Law also was a resident in the assisted living building for 3.5 years. Although he resisted in moving out of his home until he had no choice, once there he would say "I have to pinch myself, I didn't know I would be staying in such a nice place". That was something coming from "Big Henry". I'm always recommending folks to check out Ecumenical when they are looking for a home for a loved one.

Based on my recommendations, friends of mine visited Ecumenical Retirement Community. They were thoroughly impressed with the facilities, staff and dining facilities. They gave special recognition to Jason Turri, Director of Sales & Marketing for taking to time to accompany them on their visit and explaining Ecumenical Retirement Community life to them. Jason showed them around, visiting resident rooms, explaining services and answered all their questions. They told me that they had visited two other prominent retirement communities in the area and they did not compare favorably to Ecumenical Retirement Community. The end result was that they gave Ecumenical Retirement Community a deposit and are currently on the waiting list.

We were faced with a difficult situation regarding where my 98-year-old aunt would be well cared for. Many facilities we looked at were either very expensive or seemed more like a hospital environment. Fortunately, another assisted living facility recommended Ecumenical Retirement Community to us. I made the call to ask if I could take a tour. Jason, Director of Sales, answered my call himself and could not have been more helpful! He invited me to visit the premises, take a tour of at least one of their three buildings, and bring my aunt to sample a meal in the dining room. What a lovely experience! My aunt who had been very hesitant about moving was much more open to the idea when she saw the beautiful lobby, dining room, and large living room area at the entrance and the ample private room that included a remodeled bathroom and very large closet. Staff and residents greeted her warmly throughout the tour. She especially enjoyed the chocolate cake after the delicious meal of Chicken Cordon Bleu, baked potato and salad for lunch. My aunt still raves about the food served at Ecumenical and enjoys filling out her meal slips each day, looking forward to what she will enjoy at her next meal. The biggest meal is served at lunchtime, which works quite well. When the time came, Jason helped our family move my aunt into her private room, even staying after hours to make sure she had what she needed. His easy going style and positivity put us all at ease during one of the most stressful times a family experiences when deciding where an elderly loved one will live. Brittany, the Assistant Director of Nursing, took great care to establish trust with my aunt beginning that first evening, showing her the nurse's station, gathering her information, and reassuring her she would be well taken care of. All of the staff have been amazing! I call Kate, the Executive Director, with any questions, and she is prompt to get back to me. I visit regularly and folks are in and out of my aunt's room, checking on her, bringing her extra towels, emptying her trash, cleaning her room, and helping her to get just the right temperature in the room. I like the way the staff interacts with my aunt, eliciting a laugh with their banter and reassuring her about her many questions. Yesterday, I asked her how she likes her new "digs" and she replied, "I love it!" That was peace of mind for our whole family. Thank you, Jason, Brittany, Kate, and the whole team!

Ecumenical Retirement Community has been an answer to our cousin's prayers. She relocated from her home in Harrisburg in the summer of 2025 and couldn't be happier! Her overall health, emotional and physical has really improved. Her well being is enhanced by living in community, socially interacting, and participating in activities. She has been very pleased with the meal options and times. We feel, as does she, that the staff is very professional, attentive and friendly. My mother was living independently in her own apartment in the Hbg area and was able to take care of herself and her needs with no help. In Oct 2025, she had a stroke. This limited her ability to safely take care of herself and live on her own. After her stroke, she is still able to wash, dress, feed herself, and overall take care of herself independently. Unfortunately, she did suffer the loss of most high-level executive decision functions and other brain damage and now needs to be in a home where others are around, meals are prepared, and chores/cleaning are provided. Ecumenical is the place! When she and I started looking for a place where she could move to, we visited several places in and around the Hbg area. I called Ecumenical and not only was the initial conversation on the phone to setup the appointment extremely encouraging, but Treva took the time to discuss possibilities and listened to my concerns. After we setup the appointment, within days we were there seeing options that would work for my mom. After consideration of all the homes we looked into, Ecumenical was #1, by far. From the friendly staff, to the many residents we met, to the various events that we learned are available to keep the residents moving and social, nothing came close for the price! The cleanliness of the facility, attention to the residents to treat them with dignity and respect, the many events that are held and the outings the residents go on are extremely top-notch. In summary, if you are looking for an independent living situation for your loved one or need a little more nursing care for them, consider Ecumenical Senior Living. Ask for Treva, she is amazing! She gets to know all her residents and engages in the welfare and lives of all who live there. She soon is going to learn how to crochet from my mom! I never thought of having my mom live in an independent living situation like this, but Treva and the staff have made it so I can sleep at night knowing my mom is getting everything she needs and is being monitored without interfering in her daily life. This gives both my mom and I peace of mind and has allowed her to feel more confident and secure, even after the effects of the stroke that she endured. Thank you to all the staff who everyday provide excellent care to the residents and a big shout-out to Treva!

My mother fell, was taken to the hospital and then to rehab but I didn't feel comfortable with her going home. My mother had visited friends at Ecumenical and always remarked about how much she liked the staff there. A friend had visited Ecumenical and gave me Jason Turri's name. So it was time for her to move back to Pennsylvania and I needed to find a place that was affordable for her to live and also was a place that she was comfortable in. My initial contact was with Jason Turri, who has been wonderful in helping us to make this difficult decision. If you’re looking for a place for your loved one look no further Ecumenical is everything I hoped for and more for my father. My dad is in the Independent living building but what’s nice about this building is if your loved one still needs nursing staff they are on the lower level of the building at a all times so that is reassuring. My dad has call bells in the bathroom and next to his bed and can wear one if he would like as well. In the future if my dad needs building 2 (personal care) he can transition over seamlessly. My dad loves the food and all of the activities they have for the residents! My dad can do is PT and OT there so that’s been really nice as well! Treva was an absolute angel to work with she was so patient and not pushy at all when we were deciding on what we wanted to do with my dad. She exceeded our expectations with customer service. She is so personable and makes sure all of her residents are good! This place is like an all inclusive resort, my dad said the meals are great and the house keeping staff is wonderful and they do an exceptional job with cleaning his room along with maintaining the facility as well! This place is not dirty at all!! My dad said they have happy hour and Sunday Sundaes. My dad is so happy and my siblings and I have so much closure knowing that my dad is in really good hands. My dad was going down cognitively but ever since living here that has gotten better with all of the socialization! Honestly I would call today and ask to speak with Treva Nell if you’re looking for a place for your family member. We couldn’t be happier with our decision of placing my father here! My siblings and I go to bed at night with a weight lifted off of our shoulders because we know he is in really good hands!

I needed to move my 93 yr old mother from her home as she was struggling with meals and cleaning responsibilities. She was also becoming socially isolated. After searching the local area, we settled on Ecumenical. We are so happy with the decision. Meeting with Jason Turri (Director of Admissions) was the first step on a positive experience. He was so helpful over the entire process. After Mom moved in, she was assigned an "Ambassador" who helped her feel welcome and has been working with her over the past 2 months, answering her questions and including her in activities. The facility is clean. The staff is friendly. They are plenty of activities. The room is cleaned weekly. The dining hall is great. This has been a great decision. Mom is doing well, and I feel she is safe and comfortable in her new environment.

The staff there, including the people on the floor all the way to the business office, treated her with tremendous respect and dignity. Jason Turri at Ecumenical is wonderful! It was a long process to get my mom from her admittance to emergency back in February 2022 to finally moving her into Ecumenical on Halloween! We originally had reached out to Jason in April with hopes of moving her into Ecumenical at that time, but she ended up needing many more months of rehab. She's been in and out of several facilities, but Jason kept in touch with us the whole time, visiting her on several occasions to monitor her progress. Not only has everyone there made her feel welcome, she loves her room and most importantly, loves the food! Thanks again, Jason, for all you have done for us!!!

You get what you pay for. while the staff is pleasant there aren’t enough of them. The nursing staff is very buttoned up and responsive. But the day to day assisted living care is more minimal maintenance than truly assisted living. The facility often smells unclean. But it’s about $1000/month less than other facilities in the area. This is the budget option in the Harrisburg area.

My mother has lived at Ecumenical Retirement for 4 1/2 years, and I wouldn't have her live anywhere else. The staff are kind and caring, the facilities are clean and well-kept, and I know that she is safe. Because the rates are reasonable, my mother is able to have her own room, decorated as she wishes, so that she always feels like she is home.

After a major stroke, and very little recovery provided by the hospital, my mom needed to move into intensive care. The care and attention she received was excellent. But this is only half the story. Ecumenical staff worked with my mom towards independent living. After six short months, see now lives in a beautiful apartment with a separate bedroom and living room and kitchen and a large personal bathroom. There's plenty of storage and the place is cozy. During her recovery, she became involved with book clubs, art classes, and volunteer work for the community. She is completely independent to come and go as she pleases and she goes out to lunch visits with friends and even stays over for a few days when she travels to other cities. The meal plan provides a balanced diet that is still enjoyable to eat and if she's not cooking in her kitchen she always has the option of grabbing something from the dining hall. She has made a lot of friends here and her social calendar is packed. I recommend Ecumenical.

Ecumenical is an excellent facility and I feel very fortunate that my mother is there. Jason went above and beyond helping with admission, Ashlee is great to work with, and the nursing staff and communication with me is excellent. Everyone is always so helpful and willing to help with my mother, as it hasn't been an easy road. Ecumenical was suggested to me from a friend who's mother also was there, and I am thankful for that suggestion and would suggest Ecumenical to anyone looking for assisted living for their loved one.

My 96 year old sweetheart mother developed dementia that worsened after the isolation from Covid. Ecumenical memory unit was heaven sent and my mom is doing very well there for one year and counting. The staff are angels on this earth, genuinely kind, compassionate, generous, and patient. They treat mom and the other residences like the rest of us - just with some additional needs. They give excellent care to physical & medical needs and they are like family or friends to mom the way they interact, talk, and joke together. The many activities suited for residences are fantastic from exercised to music, simple yet lively art and craft projects and lots of companionship. The meals ate even very good and they provide snacks and drinks in between meals. I highly recommend Ecumenical memory care for your loved ones for their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being snd the peace of mind it will bring to you and your family.

The thought of transferring my mom from home to a retirement care facility was stressful. Ecumenical, specifically Treva made this process significantly easier. She helped us decide what my moms needs were and which area would best meet her needs. The staff is amazingly friendly and caring. The residents seem happy and are friendly. My parents recently moved to Ecumenical. If I could give more than 5 Stars I would. Jason, the sales director was so kind and did everything he could to find a room for my parents due to their immediate needs. When we toured everyone looked so happy, the staff went out of there way to make my parents feel welcome. Now that they are residents, they are absolutely loving life at Ecumenical. I talk to my parents almost every day, after they moved in I didn't hear from them for a few days. When I finally spoke to my mom she shared that they had just been so busy and have not had time to call. They talked non stop about all of the fun things they have been doing. I feel so blessed knowing that my parents are living in a place where the staff truly care about the residents. If you are looking for a place to call home look no further!

My sister, brother and I visited five other communities while looking for assisted living with memory care for our mother and Ecumenical Retirement Community was by far the most impressive. The staff is sweet, personable, and truly care for the people who live there! Jason and Treva, the admission directors, were very knowledgeable and helpful during the entire process. The grounds are very well kept with outdoor walking paths, gardens and a fish pond where we can go to feed the goldfish. Now that our mother is in memory care we can sleep at night without worrying whether or not she has taken her medication, left the stove on or forgot to eat.

It is always challenging when the time comes that your parent is not able to take care of himself/herself. We were fortunate to find Ecumenical when we had to find another home for our father. Jason, the Director of Admissions, was fantastic in helping us make the transition. He was very patient in answering all of our questions, streamlined the admissions process, and worked with us and staff to make the transition as smooth as possible. Our father has been there for over a month and we have been pleased with the services provided...especially given that we are still in a pandemic and the challenges that can bring.

THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE WAS AMAZING!! Accepting my mother needed more care than I was able to provide and coming to grips with her aging, I had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life, placing her into assisted care facility. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner on Active Duty in the Navy stationed in Italy. I was sent home emergently due to my mother falling ill from an infected foot due to complications with diabetes. My mother was living on her own in an apartment and unknown to her local support family had fallen ill over the last several months and was crawling around on her foot and couldn't eat due to the infection. We quickly got her to the hosptial for care and during her stay we realzied she was unable to live on her own anymore. This was devastating and shocking to us all, But with her wishes she asked me to look into Ecumenical because a close friend recommended the place. I was dead against a "nursing home" because I always refused to have anyone care for or mistreat my mother. But I did what she asked at her bedside in the hospital, and put in inquiry in for a tour. In less than 24 hours I recieved a call from Treva and she invited me in for a tour. Treva allowed me to cry on her shoulder and told me I was making the best decision for my mom. She took care of everything in facilititaing my mothers transition and within 48 hours we had her room cleaned with new carpet and she allowed us to stay and decorate my moms "new apartment' she was discharged from the hospital and welcomed into a new family. Everyone greeted her and cheered her as she came and said "welcome home". I can go back to ITaly in peace knowing my mom is in good hands. My mother is african american and I belive we need to see this and have a diverse community for my mom to thrive. God is good and I am blessed to know a place like this exists!

Excellent! I highly recommend Ecumenical Retirement community. The nursing staff is superb, caring and professional. My father stayed in buidling 2 for 4 years and was so happy there. He made many friends with residents and staff. The atmosphere is bright and up beat. The activities are many and well organized. Very clean.
