Reviews Arden Courts at Susquehanna

My aunt was committed to staying in the home where she had lived with her parents since 1942. It took a fall to turn the tide, and I am constantly amazed at how well she does there. After loneliness, anxiety and depression, we both agree that she is the happiest she's been in her life. I talk to her every day, from out of state, and couldn't be more pleased with the loving support she receives there. She loves the meals and treats, and especially the regularly scheduled pet therapy visits, and Sheri often sends me a sweet photo of my aunt with a furry friend.

Arden Courts is a facility I visit often to see my patients. I am always amazed at the staff who are so conscientious and kind. The moment I enter I am greeted by a helpful receptionist. The staff are compassionate and knowledgeable about their residents.

As a professional in dementia care, I've had the opportunity to work with many memory support facilities, but Arden Courts in Harrisburg truly stands out. The dedication and longevity of their senior staff are unmatched—many have been there for years, which speaks volumes about their commitment not just to the job, but to the residents and their families. What impresses me most is the deep level of care and compassion they provide to individuals with all types of dementia. Their team genuinely understands the unique needs of every resident and goes above and beyond to ensure that each person receives dignified, personalized care in a warm and supportive environment. It's not just the professionalism that makes Arden Courts special; it's the heart behind the care. The atmosphere is one of true commitment, where the residents are treated with respect, and families are given peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in the best hands. I cannot recommend Arden Courts enough for anyone seeking exceptional memory care for a loved one. Their dedication to quality care and creating a sense of home is truly remarkable.

My mother became a resident at Arden Courts after a bumpy time at an assisted living facility. My family reached out to Arden and successfully transitioned our mother to Arden. The staff at Arden Courts welcomed her into the perfect neighborhood, well suited to Mom's current stage. Mom is content at Arden, being well-cared for by the entire staff. It is the community where she belongs.

From our first day in the application process to have our Aunt admitted as a resident to her final day at Arden Courts, the staff has been very professional, helpful and supportive. Our Aunt was never neglected in any way. The cleanliness of the facility was outstanding. We have nothing but praise for Arden court and the entire staff.

My siblings and I never thought our mother would feel at home anywhere except in her house of 50 years. Surprisingly, Arden Court did become home to her. We believe this is primarily due to the outstanding staff. They quickly learned her name, her preferences, and her routines. Each time we visit, we are warmly welcomed and included in any event or meal that might be in progress. The facility keeps us well informed about community events and any changes or concerns involving our mother's health or needs. The nurses are willing to answer any of our questions and help us make important medical decisions. We would recommend Arden Court without reservation for a loved one that is struggling with memory loss.

Arden Courts has provided such good care to my family member - They've done an amazing job communicating issues - the staff are professional and caring and incredibly patient. The facility layout is perfect for a person with memory issues and activities are very good.

I really wish I would have moved my father to Arden Court sooner in his progression. Like so many others, we started our journey 3 years ago thinking the best home is one that we would want. We initially selected a facility with memory services that looked like a resort with large rooms and accommodations that were similar to home. We quickly found that the service and treatment of the residents was directly related to the level of the staff who were there. Memory care staffing is a very specific skill set and a nurse/staff who are prepared to address long term care are not interchangeable with skilled memory care staff with experience and training. We had to move our dad twice because of issues with staffing and his specific needs with his dementia. Arden Court staff were incredible. From the maintenance staff to the nurses to the front desk. We were always engaged on a regular basis. While it was near the end of his life, he was probably the best kept while at Arden. Proper cueing, attentive service, nurses that diagnosed issues quickly and told us exactly what he was doing. He was always in appropriate clothes and sneakers and was shaved and his hygiene was well maintained. In the other systems, he was allowed to wear what he wanted regardless of what he chose. The staff at Arden were great to talk to and the accommodations actually fit a person with memory issues rather than something we as his kids would want to see. Can't say enough about the care he received. My only regret in his care, was not moving him to Arden Courts sooner. It would not have changed the outcome but would have made him more comfortable through the progression of his illness.

We had a bumpy start at another facility due my husband's mother's exit-seeking behavior, which led us to Arden Courts. And thank goodness it did, becauseArden turned out to be the very best fit for her!! She has thrived in its unique neighborhood atmosphere and has adjusted after only a few weeks. Due to the many activities encouraged each day, she believes she's "in school" and loves learning new things … at nearly 92! We are so very grateful to know she's being looked after with such attention and care. What a blessing the Arden Courts team and facility has been your family!

Arden-Courts is an amazing facility with fantastic people. When searching for a new facility for my dear aunt, the people at Arden were so helpful with providing a FaceTime tour of the facility (I live out of state), a quick assessment of my aunt while in the hospital and thoroughly answering all my questions. We were able to move her from the hospital to Arden very quickly and they coordinated everything. While my aunt did not get to spend a great deal of time at Arden, it was very comforting to know she was loved and well cared for until her passing. So thankful to Arden-Courts and their staff!

I can not say enough about Arden Courts. They are one of the best facilities we have come across in a long time! From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated wonderful, like family. What a breath of fresh air from some of the other places we toured. The facility is very clean, neat, with a at-home atmosphere. The move in process was smooth and easy. Debra from admissions was such a pleasure to work with. She went above and beyond to help make a scarey transition very easy. They all were so great at helping my grandmother adjust to her new home. The staff are always friendly and greet you whenever they see you. They do everything they can to accommodate us and make the process as non stressful as possible. Not only are the staff wonderful, the facility's amenities are top-notch, offering comfort, convenience and functionality. They even include family members in a lot of the events happening there. I just love this place and I am glad we made the right decision to move her here.
February 2024
My wife Debbi was a resident at Arden Courts from January 2nd , 2023 until her passing on October 11th, 2023. I spent a few years researching memory care facilities near me and came to the conclusion that Arden Courts was a near perfect fit for her and for myself and was never disappointed in my choice. With considerable guidance, care and patience from Debra, Lauren, Lori, Chris, Sheri and all the wonderful Caregivers Debbi was able to spend her final Journey in such a professional, caring and Loving home. There isn't a week that goes by that one of the caregivers doesn't reach out to me to see how I am doing. On Christmas Day both Pat and Priscilla caregivers to Debbi called to see how I was doing; I could go on and on. What a wonderful home I found for my Dear Debbi. Sincerely, Paul
December 2023
Our family had the most wonderful experience with our mother residing at Arden Courts. From the moment we met with Debra Boyer (Memory Care Advisor/Certified Dementia Practitioner), we knew we had found the perfect place for her. The staff at Arden Courts are the most kind, caring, wonderful caregivers who work together to provide top-notch, exceptional care to their residents. The Executive Director, Activities Director and the entire Nursing staff are all just amazing people with big hearts. I always left there with such a good feeling, knowing my mother was happy and in such great hands. I miss visiting the friendly atmosphere there. My mother passed away in August. I will always be grateful to Arden Courts for treating my dear mom like family and allowing her to pass with love and dignity.
October 2023
If you are reading this you most likely have a loved one with dementia and have begun your "long goodbye." My goodbye ended October 12, 2023, when my husband of 58 years passed on. He moved to Arden Courts in February 2023; he had been at another well-regarded facility for nine months, receiving what I thought was good care. However, his care at Arden far exceeded his previous care. I was impressed with their laser-focus on residents. They let them make their own decisions throughout the day, but will gently coax them to join whatever is on the schedule. The calendar they post monthly and share with family demonstrates the emphasis on the residents and their well being; it even lists the snack they have each afternoon. They encourage each person to participate at their own level, even if it's just being part of the group and observing. My husband rarely took part in activities previously. However, because of the gentle, cheerful encouragement of Sheri, the program coordinator, he often joined in happily, as the picture of him playing balloon volleyball shows. The therapy dogs that came frequently were his favorites. Arden Courts is clean, quiet and brightly lit. The layout of the four neighborhoods and "square" makes it feel like a village. The rooms may seem smaller than some, but it is much better for them to mix with others in the common areas; and what a treat for them to be able to go outside whenever they want, weather permitting. However, they can retreat to their room for a nap and quiet time when they want. When my husband arrived at Arden they assured me he would be able to end his days there, barring any serious condition requiring hospitalization. They kept that promise, and I will forever be thankful to the caring staff who made his final days ones of comfort and peace and less stressful for me. Sorry for this lengthy review; I could say so much more! If you are in the bewildering process of finding a residence for your loved one, look no further – Arden Courts will be a blessing to you all!

It is difficult to describe this journey. As my husband's family and I toured multiple facilities with Memory Care we knew when we toured Arden that it was the right choice. It was difficult to imagine her there and walking her through that door was one of the hardest things I've ever done. But with Debra Boyer's guidance we accomplished that feat. The staff at Arden is amazing!! They continue to educate us on how to help my mother in law adjust to her new home. They have given us a wealth of information to prepare us for what is ahead. We get updated when needed. No question or phone call from us has ever gone unanswered. The facility is set up so that she has the freedom to walk where she wants and go outside in the courtyard. She helps in her communities kitchen everyday and loves folding laundry. She is starting to feel it is her home. The staff has taken her into their hearts and truly care for her. I don't think I could ever thank the staff enough as they are what makes Arden what it is. They are exceptional at what they do. And what a challenging job they have. The bright light in our story is that we made the right choice and that she is now safe. THANK YOU to every employee at Arden for what you do!!

I can't say enough about what a perfect fit Arden has been for my sister. The staff is absolutely INCREDIBLE! They give genuine personalized care, love, and attention to each resident. They are available, positive, helpful, and upbeat.! When it's time to leave, I always leave with a happy heart and a smile on my face, knowing how truly happy my sister is, SAFE, and THRIVING in her new environment. Thank you Arden Courts of Susquehanna!!!

After visiting over 5 facilities, we chose Arden Courts and it has proved to be the right choice. Wonderful staff, prompt communication, respect and activities for everyone and a beautiful walking garden
September 2022
The perfect place for Mom. We chose Arden Court because our mother enjoys to walk and their facility is dedicated to memory care and it shows. The residents can walk around the entire outside courtyard with beautiful seating and grounds safely. The facility is designed into different neighborhoods which is such a cute idea and it is full of nature light which was an important factor as well. Our first impression was meeting Debra the Memory Care Advisor who took her time with the family so she can place our mom in the most suited neighborhood based on personality, interest and other residents and that was spot on. These residents just loved her right away and she made some great friends (Nancy, Doris) in the short time she was there. Not to mention the daily activities they plan for the residents and the facility is very clean and you have access to see your love one any time of the day or night. I can't say enough about the staff. The caregiver were amazing (Pricilla, Patricia, Shirika, Rasheda) and the Nurses (Leslie, Lori and Chris) were outstanding. To know she was cared for like family brought us so much comfort. Placing your love one in assisted living is a tough decision but Arden Courts sure made it much easier. Thank you Arden Courts for everything!
August 2022
When it became obvious we had to find a place for my mom our search began. She was always very active, loves to walk and socialize. We looked at 5 or 6 facilities in the Harrisburg area. Most of them had a memory care wing, but they were separate from the rest of the facility and the residents didn’t have the free roam of the place and getting outside was a problem. Then we came to Arden Court, I’m so happy we found this little gem of a place. The entire facility is for memory care so there is no separate section. My mom has the run of the place! She can walk around inside or outside which was very important to me. But that’s just the beginning. When we went for a tour I was amazed how many of the residents were up and walking around! And the staff was very friendly and so many of them have been there for a very long time. Some of them for 20 years or more. They genuinely care about the people they care for. It was even more apparent after we moved mom in and I would stop by for visits and noticed the same care being shone. My mom is always dressed nicely and clean and happy. What more could you ask for? The place is nice and small too which I love. Everybody knows everybody. There are four separate neighborhoods in the building so each neighborhood only has 16 residents and they have their own dining room and living room. Of course they can go anywhere in the building but the small feel of the neighborhoods is great. The community center is nice too and very well run. My mom gets her coffee just like at home and has plenty of people to socialize with and plenty of activities to participate in. We could not have made a better choice! Thanks to everybody at Arden Court. I’d mention the names of some of the great people there but I’d be afraid I’d forget somebody. ❤️

Tring to decide on the best place for mom was not easy!! Visits to many facilities, but after visiting Arden Courts it was clear this was the place!! Deb and Lauren, caring staff, lots of activities, clean and well laid out floor plan made it clear. Its almost a month and mom is very happy!!! Thank you everyone at Arden Courts!!
June 2022
My dear husband was an Arden resident for 7 months due to continuing serious falls and memory care issues. Arden allowed me to be a wife as well as a caregiver which was so helpful and meaningful in my husband’s last months. The staff was a true blessing to us and our entire family. The architectural features of Arden contributes to resident care and well-being. Opportunities for social interaction - engagement - outreach are readily available and vital for residents and family members. Five star rating from me!! Bernadette

April 2022
Finding and deciding on a memory care facility for my spouse was a terribly difficult decision. I visited and talked with staff of several different care providers. There was something about Arden Courts that just made it seem right to me. The fact that Arden's sole focus is on memory care was very significant. The layout of the building, with the outdoor courtyard, resident's rooms, and community areas, all seemed to fit together well. But the most important factor is staff. It's all comes down to staff. I immediately saw and felt the priority of providing sincere care for every resident. It's a difficult job, and ALL the staff I had contact with were respectful and caring with the residents. I feel my spouse is being well cared for and that luckily, I made the right decision.

Staff treat residents with respect and truly care about and for them as their own. Bright, open place to live!

We have been extremely fortunate to find Arden Courts of Susquehanna for our mother, whose dementia was escalating. We had to find a place for her in December because it was getting to be too much for us anymore. The staff has been so caring, attentive, and professional - including office staff, nurse, and aides. It has been an adjustment for all of us, but we feel happy and relieved knowing that she is being taken care of in such a great facility. Everyone there has made her feel welcome and has given us peace of mind. We are encouraged to call anytime with any questions or concerns. They have kept us up to date with the pandemic and we are looking forward to in-person visits very soon!
March 2021
Choosing to place my mom in Arden Courts was one of the hardest decisions Ive had to make in life. My mothers dementia had reached a point where it was beginning to get overwhelming for me to handle. I was worried about placing her in the care of someone else, but Arden Courts was the right choice. The staff is supportive, kind and caring, and they have been taking great care of my mom. They welcome my phone calls, texts and emails whenever I have a question and always respond right away. I never feel rushed to get off the phone with the nurse when I call, they always make time for me. FaceTime calls are the next best thing to in-person visitation during the pandemic, and Im anxiously awaiting the time I can see her in person again, which will be soon! I highly recommend them if you are searching for great care for your loved one with dementia or Alzheimers.

I want to give a huge shout-out to all the staff and team members at Arden Courts. My father has been at Arden Courts for almost 2 months, and is doing so well. He continues to thrive, is so well-cared for, and seems very happy. Have had the opportunity to talk to him through FaceTime, window and now porch visits. Love being able to see him for porch visits. It gives me great comfort to know he is safe.

First of all, my name is Susan K Richard. Arden Courts deserves a 5 star rating for the care they give to their residents and their families. From the first phone call to Arden Courts, their friendliness and professionalism are readily apparent. At this very difficult juncture of placing a beloved family member in a facility, they put me at ease immediately. I knew I was making the right choice for the care of my husband. The administrators were eager to help in any way, no effort was too much. And as much as any resident says they just want out of there and to go home, my husband said, This is a beautiful place and they treat me so nice here. I think that speaks volumes. I want to say here, that I called and asked for pictures of my husband, and Deb, the administrator, gladly took several pictures and sent them to me! I treasure those pictures!! My husbands room was beautiful, full of light and accommodated his daily needs. A most wonderful advantage to the set-up at Arden Courts is the open courtyard for the dementia unit. My husband could walk outside of his building and enjoy a beautiful courtyard with grass, flowers and plenty of places to sit. This makes the facility much more of a home than an institution. The nursing staff assessed my husbands abilities and he was able to function to his fullest extent. The nursing staff is attuned to the health and well-being of the residents. The day my husband died, the attending nurse noticed he was not feeling well and stayed with him, holding his hand while he passed. I am eternally grateful for that, since I could not be there due to the COVID19 pandemic. In addition, I learned that my husband had made a connection to another nurse in the daytime, and she was very upset with learning of his passing. Finally, when my family and I picked up my husbands belongings at Arden Courts, everything was boxed up by the maintenance man, and he helped us load the boxes in our car. He was just as friendly and helpful as everyone else we encountered at Arden Courts.

We have had a wonderful experience with Arden Courts since our family member entered on July 21, 2020. She has adapted surprisingly well to the staff, other patients, and available activities since her arrival. Recently, we have been able to have a face-to-face visit with her , which went very well.Dealing with the staff members has been a pleasant and satisfying experience; we look forward to continued good experiences throughout the future.

This week my sister I enjoyed a porch visit with our Dad. It was wonderful! Arden Courts has done an amazing job keeping our father safe and happy. Since March they have made available several methods to communicate with our Dad including FaceTime, Skype, window, telephone and now porch visits. It has been so reassuring to be able to talk to him in so many ways. If I have any questions about his care, calling into the office or working through our assigned Memory Care Advisor (Deb - you are the best!) has always resulted in an immediate response. Thank you so much! Marge

Elderly lives and dignity matter and the staff consistantly show compassion and understanding to the residents and families. During this unprecedented facility isolation it is a comfort to know Arden Courts is determined to provide the best available care for our loved ones.
