Freedom Village should be able to afford a top notch chef with the money they take from their clients. It's sad because at that age its one of the few pleasures left to most of them. I think the lady who vacuums the rooms could do a better job and it would be nice if they had a leader in this building to get people out of their apartments like they do in the main building and socialize other that meal time. Otherwise the furnishings are lovely&the staff is kind.

This place is awesome. They have cared for our family as if it was their own. Both our aunt, uncle and Mom have been in Independent Living, then our aunt needed memory care and our Mom recently moved to Skilled Nursing. For every step along the way, the staff has been incredibly supportive and helpful. When Mom needed assistance, a staff member came on in Christmas Eve to get her moved to transitional care. There has been nothing we have needed that they have not been able to provide. Aside from that, the property is gorgeous, extremely well-maintained with lots of activities for those who want to participate. The food is incredible. I've often said Independent Living is like being on a fantastic cruise ship. This is certainly the place to live when you need support.

We recently moved our mother to personal care at Freedom Village. Laura and the staff in personal care were incredibly helpful and compassionate. They communicated with us regularly and provided us with practical suggestions to help make our mom more comfortable during the transition. Since she has been there, the staff have continued to be very kind and supportive of her.

We moved to Freedom Village in May, 2024 and are thrilled with our new home. From the marketing staff, especially Suzanne, who were always available to answer our questions to Shari, the wonderful move-in manager to all the well-trained servers in the dining rooms we find ourselves surrounded by courteous, knowledgeable staff members. They and fellow residents have welcomed us warmly, and we know we chose the best place for us when we came here.

We are so happy we chose Freedom Village at Brandywine. Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming, from residents to employees to management. The food is outstanding - we recently went on a cruise and I realized the food at FVB was as good or better than the food on the cruise. In fact, living here is like living in a cruise ship! We have made many new friends and have as many activities as we want, from the annual play to the Singers, from the bocce league to the scholarship committee. We could not be happier.

My grandparents just moved here from Florida and they really like the place. This community has everything you would expect (endless activities, good food, and a nice campus ), but what makes it a quality CCRC is that it goes above what you would expect. It has an on-site doctor visit frequently, a nearby pharmacy with delivery drop off at Freedom Village, driver services readily available, and a community aspect that is very welcoming and friendly. Also, I will say that I was very impressed with staff we worked with to make the move a reality (Mary Main and Shari McLaughlin) - they responded Very quickly to my family's questions, were helpful to accomodate my family's unique situation to work at Freedom Village, and they were extremely patient when working with my grandparents (answering their questions, helping them meet deadlines, etc).

I can't believe I now live here! Discovered Freedom Village at Brandwine when I was looking for a place for my parents several years ago. I visited several retirement communities in the Chester and Montgomery County areas. When I walked into Freedom Village and saw how beautiful the condos are, I knew I had found the right place. Dad passed away, but Mom did move to Freedom Village. She lived here 5 years and couldn't have been happier. Now, my husband and I have retired and have made this community our home as well. The condo is beautiful. Lots of room and light coming in. The residents are very involved in the day-to-day things that run the community and it shows. Can't recommend Freedom Village enough.

Update (4/30/2024) In July, my wife and I will begin our seventh year at Freedom Village. Time has flown by and we still love living here. We've made many friends and continue to be impressed with the variety of events, activities, and trips… And by the staff members who organize and coordinate them. Our dining choices are exceptional, even better with the recent opening of the "Village Bistro," which has its own menu (and a brick oven for pizza). I want to mention other sections of Freedom Village, including skilled nursing, rehab, and memory care. Although my wife and I are in independent living, over the years, several of our friends have been in these other areas. I have been consistently impressed by the thoughtful care and attention they have received. As noted in the last update, it gives me great confidence to know that should my wife or I ever need such care, we will be in good hands. Update (9/2021): More than 4 years. They've done a great job handling the many pandemic issues. Staffing shortages in dining, nursing, etc. are significant, but the staff and management are proving flexible and up to the amazingly difficult task of keeping us healthy, fed, and entertained… Pat and I are in Independent Living but we have close friends in the Assisted Living and Nursing sections.so I feel confident that if we had to move to a higher care level we'd be well taken care of. I'll apply every positive adjective I know to the wonderful dining staff. Yet again, I'm sure we made the right choice when we decided to come here. Update: Almost three years now. Continuing to love life here and still making new friends. I've been volunteering with a local hospice which has taken me frequently into the nursing and memory-care sections. I'm impressed by the high level of care they are giving the residents and patients. The new Executive Chef who arrived last year has improved many things in the dining scene (which was already pretty darn good before his arrival). Update: Here a year now and loving it still. We made many new friends - even a couple close friends. The amount of visibility residents have in the overall planning, organization, and operation of the place is wonderful. We had a lot of conflicted thoughts about going to a for-profit place. I think we made the right decision. I just wish the dining service was not so slow. Original review: My wife and I have been here for two months now. It's too early to provide a comprehensive review but here are a few highlights: -The investigation and buy-in process went extremely smoothly. At several other seniors places we looked at, the sales staff seemed like they were selling timeshares. No so here. We felt we were in charge and every question we had was fully addressed. -Move-in was a bit rocky but that was 90% third-party movers and unpackers. -Condo is roomy with lots of windows but with only one ceiling fixture in four rooms, we need lots and lots of lamps. -Access to events and places such as gym and dining is quite convenient. We do not need moving-around things but residents with walkers, wheelchairs, and scooters seem to be having no difficulties. -Food… well, if it were a restaurant, I'd give it four stars for food and five for staff. That said, every once in a while the lag between ordering and food delivery is excessive. -Staff are just plain wonderful. They remembered our names from early on. They remember our preferences and our food restrictions. This is getting long so I'll just add that a primary reason for our selecting this place was in the hope of making new friends. We found success there from the first day on.

The skilled nursing team was fantastic in their care and therapy and the communication was excellent……so much so that we transitioned our mother into an apartment in the personal care facility following her rehab. The personal care team was very thorough and made the transition seamless. They were cooperative, supportive and very prompt in addressing our questions and requests throughout the move in process. Very professional still with a personal touch. We have complete confidence in the decision to move our mother to Freedom Village.

My 93 year old mother recently moved to The Gardens from independent living. During that stressful time, I had the privilege of working with several key staff members there. I found them to be nice, patient, empathetic and professional. Please extend my sincere thanks to Laura, Jen, your nurses and aids and the rest your staff there at The Gardens. My mom recently moved from Independent Living to the Gardens. Laura was very helpful in the transition. She took the time to show us the Gardens and talk to us prior to moving our mom. The day of the move she checked in on us and took my mom to the dining room for dinner so she could meet some residents. Several days after the move, I called Laura and asked her to check in on my mom. She immediately checked on my mom and provided her assistance. Laura is always prompt in returning my texts or phone calls. Every staff member that I have met or talked to at the Gardens are very friendly and helpful. The library, great room, and dining room are easy for my mom to find so she can join in all the activities. The Gardens is beautifully decorated. I am so glad my mom is living in a friendly and caring place. Thank you Laura. Karen G

My experience at Fvbrandywine, has been just that, truly an experience. Being a new nurse, has been amazing to say the least. I’ve been an entertainer, performing live musical performances at Freedom Village since 2014. It’s always enjoyable. My parents moved into the assisted living facility recently. Laura (sales/transition) and Jenn (director of health) were super helpful with making sure that they had the right level of care. Laura provided a lot of support, including connecting us to a senior moving company, which so helpful and made the process much easier and faster for us. Even after the move, Laura has checked in and offered support, which is so appreciated. Jenn has been very helpful as I was working through figuring out what was going on medically with my father. And Valerie, the evening nurse, provided so much care and support during a particularly difficult weekend. The apartment is nice and was well prepared for the move-in, and the staff are clearly invested in providing excellent care. We are happy that we chose Freedom Village, and I would recommend this facility to others.

I cannot say enough positive things about Freedom Village @ Brandywine. From the intake process with meeting Laura Fanning and Jen (Healthcare), moving in ( given list of movers, set up from IT, pictures hung.) All done in a matter of 2 weeks. The process was so easy ... Each resident is extremely friendly, they make every one feel so welcome, you are family, don't feel like the new kid at all. The staff are there for the residents, no matter what you need, no question goes unanswered. Each person you pass in the halls or dining room and anywhere on the campus , they always say hello. The 5-10 rule applies. Every day there is something to do, you are never out of activities to do. From Games, outings , movies, entertainment , celebrations for the holidays. The activities staff comes to you to see what you like and don't. You can be involved as much or little as you like. If you are on the fence of picking a senior home for your family, this is the place. It has something for everyone.

My father was recently moved to memory care from independent living. His dementia became too advanced for my mom to continue being his sole caregiver. It was a very difficult time, knowing he would no longer live with my mom. There were questions, would he transition, will he be well taken care of, will my mom be ok? All of the staff and the Freedom Village community were overwhelmingly kind. Especially Laura, Jennifer and Hilary who went beyond their duties to help us in memory care. The support, guidance, advice and overall love they gave me, my mom and especially my dad was amazing! They treat us as family and that comforts me when I think about my dad. My dad fell in early September and needed to move into assisted living. I contacted Laura and she fit in a visit the next day. She spent several hours giving me a tour, asking questions and answering questions about my dad and his needs. We were able to get my dad moved in a week later. Laura provided a contact for movers, who showed up on time, were professional, and moved my father's items well wrapped, handled with care, and nothing was damaged. On move in day, I appreciated that Laura spent almost the entire day with us and/or checking in to make sure the move was going well and dad was getting settled in. Laura genuinely cares for each resident as if they were her family members. Laura has excellent communication skills and if she isn't available at the moment, she gets back to you in a timely manner. She listens to you and helps provide the best resolution for your loved one. Although her job is probably filled with constant interruptions, she never makes you feel that way. I often see her when I visit my dad, she will always stop to chat and has even helped me carry things to his room when I needed extra hands. I have a great sense of peace knowing my dad is at Freedom Village with Laura and the other staff; who are taking such good care of everyone at their facility, which we now call "home" for our loved ones. I only gave 4 stars because I think businesses constantly need to work hard and adapt as needed so they are always striving for the 5 stars.

I never write reviews but I feel as though Freedom Village deserves one and if I could give it ten stars I would! From the moment my mother and I stepped through the door we knew that the Gardens at Freedom Village was something special. We were greeted by Phyllis at the front desk and then we met Laura Flanning who showed us around and after that Mom was ready to move right in!! Laura made sure all of our questions were answered and also scheduled times for us to meet and talk with Allie and Sara (two of the many wonderful nurses that work there) as well as other staff members all of whom went out of their way to answer any questions we had. All of this was during our first and second visit there! My mother has been there a few weeks now and Laura Flanning and the other staff members are still as wonderful and helpful as they the first day we them!! Most mornings my mother's day starts off with a smile and a laugh with Lilly one of the third floor nurses, then Mom is ready for her day. I am very happy with the care that my mother is receiving at FV. Jen, Sara, and the other nurses and staff are so helpful and kind, my mother is thriving at Freedom Village and the food is good too!!

Mom, after nine years, has transitioned from Independent Living to Personal Care. There was consternation and convincing to be sure. But the wonderful thing that happened, for mom and for us kids, was the team (Laura, Jennifer, Nathaniel, and staff) and how they welcomed her into that close community. The transition I'm talking about here occurred within mom, as if her reluctance to move has become a happiness to be welcomed, to be part of the "neighborhood", and to be visited daily by her new team of friends. What more can a son ask for....Mom has regained a piece of her youth, and we are grateful.

Laura and team have gone out of her way to help the family get settled, get used to the area, and start making FV their new home. We greatly appreciate the continued care and support they are receiving from the entire staff.

My mother relocated from Freedom Village independent living to The Gardens in early April 2022. It was a tough decision as mom was enjoying the independent living part of Freedom Village. However, it was time for mom to make the transition and knowing that she could still participate in all the independent living activities made a huge difference. The move was made easier by Laura Fanning's support and flexibility. Even after the move, Laura continues to keep me updated with mom's adjustment and shared a celebration with me when mom volunteered to help "greet" a new resident. Jennifer Caiazzo has been helpful with arranging the appropriate care for mom. She provided advice on how to deal with mom's early cognitive decline. Mom is still strongly independent and hasn't leaned into the many services that are available to her. I know that when she is ready for those services Laura and Jennifer will make the transition as easy as possible. It has been easy for me to communicate to Laura and Jennifer. I appreciate their responsiveness to all my questions.

Laura Fanning and the whole team at Freedom Village were very supportive when it was time make the move to assisted living. They really wanted to get to know their new residents and ensure that the transition was as smooth as possible. Working with Laura, we could find an apartment and level of care that met the seniors' needs and I was impressed with how quickly Freedom Village could accommodate the seniors.

We are pleased with our condo. The facilities are excellent and maintained by a top notch maintenance department. The move-in process was made less challenging by support from Freedom Village and the vendors they recommended. Changes to our unit were accommodated and finished on time. The most notable experience has been how nice the staff and residents have been. We have never had so many invitations to dinner and activities! We've met many interesting people. If this facility meets your needs, it should definitely be on your short list.

I'd like to add my hurrahs for Laura Fanning here at the Gardens! She is always available to help, or answer questions, or make the residents comfortable, in addition to her regular duties. I don't know what any of us would do without her!!

My 92 year old dad has been at the Gardens at Freedom Village for almost a year now, and our family couldn't be happier. The facility is clean, bright and friendly. He enjoys every meal he has had there. The staff is attentive and caring. Laura Fanning made us all feel comfortable from the first moment we walked into FV. Any issues that may have arisen were quickly addressed. In "Covid times", FV has been quick to enact guidelines and keep families up to date on what's happening at the facility. We moved my dad from another assisted living facility to Freedom village and we are so glad we did!

I would like to express my gratitude to Ms. Laura Fanning for the help and guidance she exhibited when we moved my late brother-in-law doctor Robert A Insalata , from independent living to assisted living. During his short stay before his death, Laura and Ali showed considerable compassion and understanding and made every attempt to ensure his welfare was looked after. She exudes enthusiasm for her job and deeply cares for her residents at The Gardens. Freedom Village is fortunate to have such an employee representing their interests.

In early October 2021, my mom relocated to The Gardens at Freedom Village. For many reasons—dementia, resistance to moving, and leaving her home of over 50 years—we expected Mom’s move to be challenging. The entire staff, from sales to administration to nursing, worked with us to create a transition plan covering everything: a clear, straightforward contract, quick turnaround when a room became available, hanging photos and window treatments to personalize Mom’s room, and creating a way to receive Mom on her terms on move-in day. While it is never easy to move a loved one to personal care, Mom’s reaction to the move and her adjustment to life at The Gardens at Freedom Village were much better than we had hoped—all because of the care demonstrated by each member of the staff. Now, Mom is part of a caring community, and her room feels like it belongs to her. As a family, we are incredibly happy to see Mom interacting with the staff and residents—not living alone any more. Within her first week as a resident, Mom was seen onsite by her new physician, and we received an introductory call from him to review Mom’s health and medical history. Flu shots and COVID boosters were administered onsite, and the staff also accompanied Mom to a routine medical exam. Day-to-day, Mom needs varying support with basic activities, and the staff helps her to select clothing, schedule a haircut at the salon, or even choose menu items, all while preserving her independence and dignity. Socially, Mom enjoys the Walking Club and sharing her many family photos with the staff. We selected The Gardens at Freedom Village after visiting five local continuing care communities and working with Mom on the idea of moving for two-and one-half years. The Gardens at Freedom Village provided the best value for our family because we have peace of mind. Low employee turnover and well-maintained facilities, along with priority access to memory care, rehabilitation, and skilled nursing services when needed, were important to us; however, the ongoing care and support provided by each member of the staff is truly what gives us comfort that Mom is receiving quality care—both now and in future months and years at Freedom Village.

My Mother lived in Independent Living at Freedom Village for 11 years and she loved it. When it came time for her to move to Personal Care she had reservations, especially her fear she would lose her independence. She has not! I can't say enough about the help from the Staff who helped us navigate the transition. From helping us find movers, accepting deliveries to answering every little question that we had about her care. There is always someone looking in and watching over my Mom which is a comfort to me. We couldn't have done this move without the help of Laura Fanning (Personal Care and Memory Care Sales Counselor). It is a difficult time when a parent reaches the stage in their life when they need assistance in their everyday living. Freedom Village is the best place to start this new stage!

We recently moved our parents into an assisted living apartment at Freedom Village. We toured many places and none came close to having the type of apartment living my parents were looking for. Besides the fact that their space was fully renovated before they moved in, their new 2 bedroom apartment is very spacious - easily accommodating their king size bed (many could not) as well as full bedroom suite. The living area is huge and gives them plenty of room for family gatherings. Laura was a true champ through this whole process as she navigated through almost daily questions from my parents, my eight siblings and numerous in-laws. They are enjoying meeting new friends and jumping in on many of the social activities. We have been very pleased all the way around.

We went through an extensive search of the best CCRC places within a 30 mile radius of our home. When Freedom Village came up, we first met with Nicki, who gave us a tour of the (rehab) area where Mom would first be located. Nicki listened to our concerns, and gave us a thorough tour. After that, she passed us off to her colleague, Laura, who was responsible for intake in the memory care section of the facility. Laura took a lot of time to show us the area and the accommodations that Mom would occupy, and she even introduced us to the woman who oversees that area, Lisa. We were impressed by the care and the time Lisa took with us to make us feel comfortable with this area. After about 3 weeks in Freedom Village, I have no complaints or concerns about the care that Mother is receiving. Every time we go visit her, she seems happy and content with her new surroundings. Each time I interact with the staff in the memory care area, I am impressed at just now engaged and attentive they are. So far, I have no reason to relocate Mother to another place. They are doing an outstanding job! If you are embarking upon the same type of journey as we (wife and me) were, I encourage you to visit this place. They will help you to feel a little less nervous and a lot more confident about your journey. UPDATE 14 Sept 2021, Lisa is no longer there, and we are waiting to see what kind of talent they can recruit. You should inquire about this particular change of staffing if you are starting out on your search for some good place for Mom or Dad. . Still, my wife and I are sticking with Freedom Village. Not a bad choice, in our eyes.

From the first day we met Laura Fanning in trying to set up my mother from Rehab Services to Assisted Living-Personal Care she has been wonderful to work with. Her knowledge, resourcefulness and compassion was outstanding. Initially, her follow up on providing me everything I needed for the application process, getting them moved in, and the room set up was a breeze. She helped to transfer Mom, she even helped getting Moms husband to be my Moms helper. He was set up and moved into the newly remodeled apartment. EVERYONE, from Nursing (Ali), Hospice (Celeste), to Maintenance in setting up the Apt, Food Service, nursing assistance around the clock (too many to names to mention), and facility services were all so friendly, caring and would do anything they could to solve a problem or help my Mom be comfortable. We are so fortunate to have found a facility that cared for our mother like she was their own family member? My family highly recommends that you talk to the staff of Freedom Village if you ever need their services. Anthony Celii

Update: Almost three years now. Continuing to love life here and still making new friends. Ive been volunteering with a local hospice which has taken me frequently into the nursing and memory-care sections. Im impressed by the high level of care they are giving the residents and patients. Its too early to provide a comprehensive review but here are a few highlights: -The investigation and buy-in process went extremely smoothly. -Food... well, if it were a restaurant, Id give it four stars for food and five for staff. That said, every once in a while the lag between ordering and food delivery is excessive. -Staff are just plain wonderful. They remembered our names from early on. They remember our preferences and our food restrictions. This is getting long so Ill just add that a primary reason for our selecting this place was in the hope of making new friends. We found success there from the first day on.
