Our server, [name removed] was extremely rude and harassing my wife and I. Our soup was ice cold and made my wife feel ill. I also heard him whispering rude remarks about our appearance. I will never be coming back down to dining room again until he is let go from employment.

Shannondell at Valley Forge was our dream retirement community, but it has transformed dramatically since we moved in before the pandemic. Initially, it was an active 55+ community, with vibrant residents, outstanding restaurants, and elegant evenings where we'd dress up for dinner. Fast forward, and it's disheartening to witness the shift. Most residents now rely on scooters or walkers, and in the communal spaces one can find residents napping on furniture along with their caregivers, despite management's disapproval. The place is now reminiscent of a nursing home. The decline in the living environment has been disheartening. My advice to prospective residents is to thoroughly assess the current state of Shannondell, as it no longer embodies the vibrant, active community it advertises. Look closely and don't rely on what marketing tells you.

While the buildings are lovely on the outside, horror awaits as you walk the halls of the assisted living and memory care facilities. The staff is miserable, rooms are dirty, residents are left without baths. Residents are often left alone in their room for long periods of time, even when the resident should not be left unsupervised. Medication errors abound. Residents can wait hours for assistance to use the toilet. Escalating issues to management goes nowhere...first line directors do nothing but placate concerns without actually addressing the problem. Senior executives use will bully concerned family members.

This is an impressive set of upscale buildings and facilities for the older generation to have a good place for retirement.You purchase an apartment and pay a monthly fee.The food looks good. There are many activities.They take good care of my mother-in-law and provide a nice village for her to live in. She has many friends here and is happy, which is the main thing.

SD is a great place to be during this pandemic. Management and staff going overboard to care and provide for the residents; dinner delivered to our apartments; entertainment, exercise and educational programs provided on close circuit TV. Many other support activities too many to identify.

If you want your loved one to be well taken care of AND well fed, send them to Shannondell! I loved working here while I was in nursing school, and after I became a fully registered nurse. You heard horrible stories about neglectful nursing homes, that let people languish... not at Shannon dell. I would give ten stars is could. Best place ever

My mother lives there independently. While she recovered from hip surgery in the Meadows and her companion spent time there as well, she continues to live in the Bradford building, now going on five years. Everything is clean and maintained beautifully. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The activities and entertainment are numerous and happy hour is fun. To see how they are handling the Covid crisis is remarkable. If you have elderly parents, youll have peace of mind with them living at Shannondell.

I work in EMS every time i drop a patient off the staff are there to greet them and to see if there is anything they can help them with. There isn't the nursing home smell that most facilities have either. I would trust these people with my family. On the plus side it's a very nice facility all together.

this place is amazing it is spectacularly decorated in the outside well-manicured. This is the perfect place for someone 70 and older to finish up life. It's all wheelchair accessible and has an incredible number of activities and services for old people. When I get old this is where I'd like to be

My sister lives at Shannondell and she loves it. We love to visit. The offerings for residents and their guests are of outstanding quality and of seemingly endless verity. A lovely place. Visit yourself and discover all there is to retirement life there.

This is a very well-maintained, inviting complex, all around and in every facility. I have spent most of my time in the theater, performing with productions by Methacton Community Theatre. The performers all come as visitors, and as a visitor I found that there is limited visitor parking in Shannondell. Understandable, seeing as this is a residential community more than an attraction. Thankfully there are shuttles between auxiliary parking lots and the theatre when major events are taking place. Other times I've walked by a small gym, a pool, and some walking grounds. It's a pretty large complex, so there is probably a lot more to see on top of more residential space. All in all, it is a nice place, with a number of services and outlets available to residents.
