Sept.2024 This is a newly updated review. My mother has two emergency buttons in her room and neither one work! I would like to know who we should contact regarding call and emergency buttons are not operating .if my mother , or any other resident, has a medical emergency in the middle of the night or day while she is in her bedroom; nobody will know or come to help her. Is this normal practice in a memory care facility? It's been a chronic problem here.

My father spent his final year at Washington Gardens and our family was extremely happy and impressed with the care he received. Everything was well coordinated and well communicated but we most especially appreciated the amount of personal interest the caregivers took in his welfare. Their kindness, attentiveness and genuine concern made my father very happy and comfortable during a difficult time, and he had great affection for the team at Washington Gardens. Moving him there was ultimately a very good decision for him.

My experience working with Washington Garden Memory Care has been wonderful. This facility truly stands out for its dedication and efficiency, making it a pleasure to collaborate with them as a medical transportation provider. A special mention must go to Sue at the front desk. She is simply fantastic, taking it upon herself to handle the prepayment invoice, which significantly simplifies the process for everyone involved. Her efforts don't go unnoticed and add to the seamless experience of working with Washington Garden. It's also important to recognize the incredible coordination behind the scenes. The coordinator does an excellent job organizing the rides, ensuring everything runs smoothly for the residents and their families. This level of organization and care from the entire team makes every interaction with Washington Garden Memory Care a positive one. I'm genuinely happy to work with such a caring and efficient team. Washington Garden Memory Care goes above and beyond to provide a warm and welcoming environment for their residents, and it's clear they're committed to excellence in every aspect of their service. I highly recommend them for anyone looking for a place that combines heart with outstanding care for their loved ones.

As a legal guardian of a resident of Washington Gardens, I am very pleased with the facility. It is roomy and well maintained. The staff has been very easy to collaborate with in regard to medical treatments, certain behavioral issues, and the unique requirements of this resident. The staff and other residents are friendly and engaging and really seem to care about the residents. They regularly hold parties and activities to give the residents opportunities to socialize. The resident is very settled here and pleased with his living situation. The previous facility he resided in fell short in all these areas, and the family encountered many unsafe situations and incompetent or indifferent staff. In comparison, Washington Gardens is a breath of fresh air.

The staff at Washington Gardens is the best! The interactions I experienced working with Rachel /Marketing and Jen / Nursing was amazing. The community offers a warm and cozy environment for folks with dementia and other cognition impairments. The resident rooms are bright, clean, and homey. The care staff was courteous and very engaged with me and also the residents! Donna Harris RN

Coming from a Physical Therapist Assistant who has been working with the geriatric population for the past 9 years in various settings. Washington Gardens Memory Care has impressed me with the level of care that the staff provides to the residents. Washington Gardens does a fantastic job of keeping their residents engaged with various activities that are designed to encourage life long learning and community. The staff does an excellent job of maintaining a positive environment and is able to provide care that is tailored to residents individual needs. I personally would feel comfortable with my own parents living at Washington Gardens duet to high level of care that is provided to all residents

The staff is so kind and caring. Mayra is awesome ! The food is very good and there are many activities during the weekdays. Very clean and comfortable. Med techs are prompt. Amber is also sweet and caring. This has not been easy for us as we are learning to let go (a little)and trust that mom will be well cared for and safe and happy. Ali and Kayla are very attentive and kind. More to follow… Mom is adjusting well and care staff is awesome! Amanda, Sis, Sue, Eric, Brittany, Jennifer , Patty and Divine are delightful! Lots of activities!

When my husband needed additional care I searched diligently for a memory care residence that offered all the things I could hope for. Washington Gardens Memory Care felt like home. The daily programs, the meals, the interaction of the medical and patient care staff is the best I found. I am so impressed with the individual assessment for physical, emotional and cognitive care that allowed me to feel right in having it being my husbands new home. The apartments, grounds, and units are warm and comfortable. I sincerely want to thank the staff in their attentiveness, caring and kindness for all the needs of their residents. This is and was the right choice.

My mom has been at Washington Gardens since December 2018. She has no short-term memory and wasnt doing well in the outside world. She is perfectly able to express her wants and needs but she was afraid of everything and hated being alone. At WG, I know she is being well taken care of and everyone there is so nice. If I have a concern, I call up and it is addressed right away. I live out of state and when I talk to her she always seems happy and content. We looked at a lot of places as we tried to find the right fit for her and I think Washington Gardens is the right place.

My mom recently passed just before Christmas, and I cannot say enough about the kindness, love, care, and support that surrounded us at Washington Gardens. Before the Parkinsons and dementia took over, my mom was a bit of a recluse, and I can honestly say she was happy there and even engaged in the activities as well as she could. She often preferred to stay out in the common area with the staff and residents. Over the 2.5 years she was a resident, so many of the workers cared for her at the very highest level, sitting with her at night, feeding her during meal time, playing music for her, bringing her hair accessories, etc. The facility is always clean and the residents are well cared for. In fact, not one single UTI while my mom was there (and at her previous facility she was diagnosed with 3 UTIs in 4 months). I was with my mom night and day during the week before she passed, so I was met everyone and watched everything that happened around us. The Washington Gardens staff was phenomenal in every way... one caregiver even stopped by on her day off to check in on my mom. The caregivers, nurses and even the kitchen staff work so very hard, and they truly care about the residents so much. My mom was feisty and difficult in her final years, and these kind souls watched over her with caring and love. They have such a difficult job... and I cannot thank them enough for their PATIENCE, compassion, and genuine care.

UPDATE 2020: Mom passed away in mid-December, after 2 weeks of hospice. I was mid-move when hospice started, and docs thought it would just be a couple days, so I did not bring her home with me. Instead, we stayed at HER home- Washington Gardens. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful the WG folks were to me. When we got mom a hospital bed, they let me keep her bed in the room so I could sleep there- which I did (note: all residents at WG get their own room, even on Medicaid as we were). The cook insisted on bringing me food and the caregivers were constantly asking if I needed anything and sharing lovely stories with me about mom. More than a couple of them came and sat with her, holding her hand and shedding tears. I received more hugs than I can count. It truly felt like family. My gratitude for this community is beyond anything I can truly express. 2017: I am so grateful for Washington Gardens. I have been the primary caregiver for my mom (Alzheimers) for over 8 years. Its been a tough road- and finding support who have a real understanding of the disease and how to best offer care that wont exacerbate symptoms is very difficult. My mom has adjusted very well to Washington Gardens- after a few months, we were actually able to take her off anxiety meds and she is still doing great! Never thought that could happen. Since anxiety for her is incredibly sensitive to the way people talk to and treat her- I credit the staff with much of why she is doing well without meds. I also credit the design- so that she is with a group of residents who are most like her stage wise- which really reduces possible conflict, and so she rarely has to be redirected as the community is absolutely safe. I have never seen any of the things that another reviewer mentioned (wet linens, pills on ground) and I visit often. My mom is 100% incontinent so I would definitely know if she were not being changed-linens were dirty. Maybe new management? I love the managers there now. They are incredibly supportive and understanding - of both my mom and of my needs as a daughter. Also, recently I was able to sign up with an insurance-care plan they offer (Medicare) that means there is a NP in the building about 3 times a week and that has been amazingly helpful as we work on a few chronic health issues. I really cant recommend Washington Gardens enough.
