I see a lot of love for the assisted living department and I'm sure they are great, because all of Bonaventure of Salem is great, but I'd love to shine a light on the memory care department. I have seen such an incredible improvement in the care staff, dining service and management of the memory care side. My mother lives here and we were very close to moving her out, in the last couple weeks it's been a night and day difference. I received a call last week from a woman named Kylie who introduced herself as the new manager. She was kind, and asked if I had any concerns or needs. She took my suggestions to heart and I'm already seeing improvement. My mother is happier and the staff appear happier. I look forward to seeing all the improvements I know are already coming. Don't take the old reviews to heart, they listened and made improvements and Kylie was so very knowledgeable and sweet. Keep up the great work team, and Kylie I look forward to seeing all that you can do. We are rooting for you

I was in the building this evening and felt compelled to come home and write a review, something I've meant to do for a few months. My mother and her partner live in Bonaventure assisted living and there is one thing I've noticed each and every time I come see them, and that is the care, dedication, love and support that the assisted living department provides. This evening was nothing different than I see every day I come. Care staff smiling, visiting with the residents and being present. Even when they believe no one is watching their dedication shines through. Two names however stick out to me as going above and beyond the call of duty and the first is Lynnette, the manager of the assisted living department. I drop into her office at least twice a week and can be a bit overbearing sometimes, she always drops whatever she's doing to talk to me and come up with a solution to whatever I need assistance with. On top of that, she is always everywhere. Just tonight it was way past her quitting time and she was answering call lights, assisting residents to their rooms and taking trash out. She had plenty of staff but she still helped them out. I've asked many staff if it was just a show, and every single one have said it's just what she does. I even found out from my mother's partner tonight that she goes to their room every week just to make sure they are happy and they don't have unmet needs. She is an absolute diamond and I am happy to have her care and support for my mother. The other name is a new one for me, a caregiver tonight named Kylie was assisting my mother and I introduced myself to her. I stated that I had never seen her before and she shared that she normally is in memory care but she came in to help and learn about the residents. She has a smile that shows this is the field for her. She was gentle and loving to my mom and helped her in a way I've really never seen before. You could tell she was a bit nervous but she stood with confidence and care and I couldn't have been happier. I could not be happier with my decision to place my mother at Bonaventure of Salem. Please check them out, they are absolute angels that work here.
March 2026
My experience with this care facility has been amazing. I'm an outside provider who works closely with residents in independent living and assisted living mostly. The team for the assisted living from caregivers up to Lynette who manages the department have been so kind, compassionate and caring to the individuals in my care as well as to me. I have worked closely with Lynette as well as Mandy to help add to services and care my residents need, and they have always had suggestions as well as taken my suggestions to heart. The residents in my care are thriving and Happy and I love seeing it. I sleep well at night knowing I don't have to worry about them. In a situation that doesn't always get the best rap, Bonaventure of Salem assisted living and independent living have raised the bar. If you have a loved one in need of services, I couldn't recommend them more.
February 2026
I couldn't speak higher of the team at Bonaventure of Salem, specifically the Assisted living department. I searched high and low for a home for my parents before landing on Bonaventure. It's clean and spacious and the residents are well taken care of and happy. Lynnette was able to explain in depth the care and support our parents would receive and she has held to it, she is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It was a hard decision to admit my parents needed help, and she assured me that they are in good hands and they have been in good hands and spirits since day one. Care staff have been so phenomenal, Day shift caregiver Anna and Med tech Jessica are delightful always going the extra mile and taking their time to provide exceptional care and compassion. Swing shift Caregivers Bella and Joanna as well as med tech Kylie are a team that cannot be beat, they bend over backwards to help them and us, any chance they can. Edelle and Kelly have been so friendly and helpful as we navigated all the paperwork and contracts and all those fun aspects, but the care is what most people are going to look for and this team cannot be beat. If you need a reason to choose the team at Bonaventure of Salem you couldn't find better care, love, or compassion anywhere else. Give them a chance, you will not be disappointed.
February 2026
My mother lived here in assisted living for a short period of time. My family was there close to every other day and every weekend helping her adjust to the new place. We interacted with the med givers, care staff, nurse, assisted living director, front desk, housekeeping maintenance, food service staff, the manager and assistant manager to name a few. The communication with everyone was clear, transparent, compassionate, respectful, kind, and caring. It was clear that the whole team was doing their best everyday. The care plan changed as my mothers needs honestly became more. We weren't pressured at all when discussing the increase in need of cares. They had recommendations for two different hospice companies that they work well with and let my family make the decision of who to use. My mom declined quickly. The collaboration to provide my mom with the best care was awesome and I appreciate and am so grateful for everyone involved to the very end. I highly recommend Bonaventure Salem to those of you looking for assisted living for your loved ones.
January 2026
My mother was a resident of the assisted living department and though her stay here was short, the care and compassion shown to her as well as our family will live with us forever. We definitely had issues on occasion as any facility is going to have, but any time we brought our concerns to Lynette, the assisted living director they were handled immediately. She showed compassion and care any time we would meet and her team of caregivers and med aids were unmatched. Not everyone can do the job that the assisted living team can do but we were definitely able to see how hard Lynette and her team worked, and how much love and support they showed to us and my mother. Though my mother's life is complete, we consider the team at Bonaventure of Salem family. If you are looking for a home for a loved one, take a stroll down to speak to Lynette and the rest of the Salem team, because you won't be disappointed.

Our Hospice Team has had the privilege of working with Bonaventure of Salem Assisted Living and Memory Care community, we are continually impressed by the level of compassion, dignity, and warmth they provide to their residents. The caregivers treat each resident as a whole person with patience, respect, and genuine kindness, which makes an incredible difference. Communication with their care staff is always thoughtful and timely. The staff consistently goes the extra mile to ensure residents feel safe, comforted, and valued. It’s clear that they don’t just care for people; they care about them. We are grateful for the collaboration and the heartfelt support they show their residents every day. This community truly creates a nurturing environment where residents can live with comfort, meaning, and dignity.

This place is absolutely wonderful! Friendly and helpful staff, happy residents and the environment is warm and inviting, just like the executive director KELLY, who really makes this place a home !
November 2025
If there was anything positive to be found in the darkest of days...it's the Salem Bonaventure team. I needed a ' home' for my family member and a home is exactly what they got. The communication, the care and the humanity they brought to not only their life, but mine as well, was unmatched. The team here literally holds up the whole family. The staff treated me like family every time I entered the doors. I can not say enough about this place. Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

My aunt has been a resident at Bonaventure assisted living in Salem for some time. She has made so many friends and loves where she is at. Everytime I have been in to visit the staff has been friendly, courteous and very helpful. I've sat in on a handful of meetings with the assisted living manager as well as the health and wellness manager, they were both able to answer all of our families questions and ensure the services that we have requested are being done. We are incredibly happy that we have made the decision on choosing Bonaventure of Salem for her home.
October 2025
My mother was at south Salem Bonaventure for 9 years. We received excellent support and friendship from both staff and residents. My parents went to Bonaventure knowing that my dad would eventually need to go to memory care. He went to memory care and mom was able to visit him daily until he died a year later. Thus started a new chapter of mom’s life. Her last 4 years were filled with activities, new friendships and time spent with family. Bonaventure was a great place for her.
September 2025
My mother is a residence here. From the moment you walk in you feel as though it is Home. Everyone that works there is so pleasant. They take good care of my mom. They check in on her. They give her her meds. They do her laundry. They take out the trash the place is spotless. So many activities are at Bonaventure. It’s truly a wonderful place.
November 2024
My dad was living at Bonaventure for 2.5 years. Since management has changed over the past year this place has been a blessing. Kelly, Hilary and Angie are the best. They have helped us cope in too many ways to mention here. Prior management was terrible, we had continuing problems with staff turn over and management changes and at one point nearly moved. That all changed with the new team. Great people to work with now. They still need improvements with lower levels of staff turnover. I’m guessing if the company paid more their staff would be more encouraged to stay. Elders need consistency with care providers and I hope the company sees that and can make some changes. The food could be much improved. My dad was often served cold food with no flavor. If these changes were made I would give them 5 stars.
March 2024
The facility looks nice with a pub on site and many activities. These amenities were going to be lost on my parent. To me, it felt like window dressing and I wanted to get past that. I looked up reports online and got a good idea of what was what. The deal breaker for me was that this provider does not accept Medicaid, so when a resident exhausts their resources, they have to leave. Since we didn't have a crystal ball to see when funds would run out, we selected a provider that will accept a transition to Medicaid when the resident is out of funds.

There is actually a full bar with a small bar menu and crafted coffees. Hours 7-10:30 am & 3-7 pm. Great, friendly bartenders.
June 2023
Great staff and executives who really care for the folks who call this home
February 2023
My Dad was at Bonaventure for 2 1/2 years and had nothing but neglect. From filthy living conditions such as waste baskets overflowing and fruit fly's to filthy soil laundry that was neglected laying in piles in his closet. Upon inspection, we found many dirty drinking glasses some with mold on them and stuck to the bathroom counter. My Dad was neglected and not cared for per the Service plan in which we complained 4 times to no avail. We moved him to a much better facility. DO NOT take your loved ones here to Bonaventure, they don't care (except for more of your money)
February 2023
Never send you loved ones here, after over 2 years of fighting neglect issues and the housekeeping issues, we are done. All the staff wants to do is take advantage of the automatic debit authorization to recoop as much money and possible while letting your Dad sit in a puddle of urine. Disgusting, uncaring, profit generating hell mouth of greed and apathy
September 2019
I would highly recommend Bonaventure of Salem for any senior looking for a community that fosters connection, growth, and independence. Bonaventure has many activities for seniors to brighten their horizons and delight in retirement. My loved one especially enjoyed going on overnight trips though the Columbia Gorge, playing bingo, eating popcorn in the on-site movie theater, playing pool table, scoring bingo, learning new board games, family BBQ events, patio parties, happy hour socials in the pub, and the roasted pig and hula dancers at the annual lu'au. I appreciated knowing my loved one was in good hands, and that the caregivers took pride in allowing her to be as independent as possible, but still providing help when needed to assist with activities.
September 2019
I've visited Bonaventure, all the staff are friendly and welcoming. Its nice to see residents doing fun activities and having a good time. Their Pub & Caf© makes delicious mochas & sandwiches.

I was invited to the Walk for Alzheimer’s event earlier this month. The staff was helpful but visiting with the attending residents made my day. I’m very happy I was able to attend, to meet some wonderful people and hear great stories about the Bonaventure of Salem community.

November 2015
Hello: My in-laws have lived here for perhaps 5 or 6 years. The first impression is that it's very beautiful. I call it 'the cruise ship'.... a very large facility. The art and furnishings are very tastefully done. The living spaces themselves are quite generous and well thought-out. But sadly, the food is consistently pretty poor. Portions are small (although you can ask for a larger one) and the food is pretty tasteless. The selections generally are middle-american cooking. Certainly not made extremely healthy or in terms of high concentrations of nutrients (more off the truck type cooking). There is a salad bar every night - so that's something, but mostly head lettuce and canned ingredients. Considering how expensive the monthly fees are, they could put some money into their kitchen offerings. But as I tell my father-in-law, if you ate at the same restaurant night after night, you'd get pretty sick of it too. The staff does make an effort to have occasional events, like picnics outside under a tent or special occasion dinners. It just would be nice if the cooks had more creativity, flavor and 'taste'. Service staff is routinely slow as well, but very cheerful and kind. They seem to enjoy the residents and care. The management staff changes pretty frequently too. The manager is frequently out of the building, or training someone. Since the corporate offices are next door, they move people around a lot. I think it makes it difficult for both the residents and the staff to know one another. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you have a car and can get out once or twice a week for a meal elsewhere!
December 2013
For an assisted living it was the best I have ever come across. Everybody has their own apartment and if there isn't any room to stay with them then can rent a room (just like a motel room) for about $50.00 a night and that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was even able to shoot pool play the juke box and play shuffle board (like they have in bars) for free 24/7. They have a frozen yogurt and coffee/espresso bar that I went to (self serve) for free. They also have a movie theater where they show 5 different movies a week, a hobby shop and excercise equiptment for free. To top it off they have a barber shop and beauty shop in there. Oh, and by the way there is a wet bar 2 evenings a week serving beer and wine. I could have stayed with my uncle forever and have never stepped outside. These were just a few things, I could keep listening things on and on. I was highly impressed. I'd give this place a 5 star rating any day.
