My rating is based purely from the perspective of being an EMT having been to dozens of facilities while providing medical transportation to patients either going to or leaving from facilities like the Ackerly. My partner and I were greeted with intelligence, professionalism and sincere compassion for the patient. Upon arrival to the patients room we were provided assistance and professionalism from Ackerly staff to safely accomplish the transfer from gurney to bed. Wish we could get this teamwork on every call at every facility. Nice job Ackerly

If you truly care about your loved one then PLEASE don't allow them to be put into the Ackerly or any LeisureCare facility. I realize that it's a business and their goal is to make money but they're also dealing with human beings and they didn't treat our Dad as such. Once in memory care, he was left to sit in his chair for most of the day and all night and developed severe distortion in his neck. He now has trouble breathing, swallowing, and can't even look his loved ones in the eyes. We brought it to management's attentions several times and they assured us they would stay on top of it, provide us reports, and ensure that he was receiving physical therapy to fix the ailments that their neglect caused. Still awaiting those reports and on top of that, they made it out to be our fault. I could go on and on but just understand that what they have done is unforgivable in my opinion. Our Dad has neurological issues unfortunately but that should not result in a lower standard of living due to being neglected by the same caretakers that are supposed to be looking after you. You don't ever want to move a late stage Alzheimer's patient unless absolutely necessary but we felt we were forced to and happy to report that his new facility is on top of everything, is happy to have him, and at a fraction on the cost. Do your homework. Good luck and God Bless!

Although I dont currently live at this lovely facility, I have attended several events here that were open to non-residents. Every staff member I interacted with each time made me feel welcome. I am positively impressed overall.

The Ackerly at Timberland has given my mom the warmth and love that I desired for her. Along with the need to handle the problems of her extreme Celiac Disease. The Ackerly at Timberland took that challenge and has kept her fed with wonderful gluten free meals. She moved into Assisted Living in January, 2017, then transitioned to Memory Care in June, 2018. She receives the attention and care that has contributed to her good health and enabling her to reach the age of 97. Our family is extremely grateful for the Ackerly staff in giving her a wonderful quality of life. Thank you to everyone who come to work each day in keeping my mom cared for, and safe, especially now! A happy window visit!

My mother loves living at The Ackerly at Timberland. She is proud to show off her spacious apartment and the beautiful facility. She has met so many new friends and enjoys many of the daily activities scheduled onsite. Her favorite is the morning PrimeFit class she attends 6 days a week! We have never seen her happier, thanks to the staff at The Ackerly!

I came to live at The Ackerly while recovering from an illness and stayed in a studio apartment within assisted living. I loved the smaller space and had help within minutes when needed. The caregivers are comforting and compassionate. I have met many wonderful people and feel very content living here. Recently I moved to an independent living apartment and am happy for the larger space. Overall, living at The Ackerly has been a positive experience.

I could not be happier with the decision to move my brother to The Ackerly. He has memory issues and is hard to please. The Ackerly provides for all of his needs and more. Katie Smith, the manager, has gone above and way beyond her duties to make sure my brother feels safe and comfortable. The staff all look out for him, a rarity in my opinion. There is substance behind the modern facilities. I would not hesitate to look into The Ackerly for you or your loved one.

Early in 2018 I found myself in the position of having to move my two parents into a retirement community and was wanting the Beaverton, Bethany, Ceder Mill area of Portland. I visited and toured many facilities and looked beyond the finishes to the care and services. When I walked into the Ackerly at Timberland I was impressed with the staff, the care that they have for all of the tenants, the food and the overall facilities.The Ackerly has many different floor plans for independent living and graduated care as my parents needs change. As with many of the newer retirement communities the Ackerly has a staffed gym facility, restaurants, sitting areas, and daily activities that are well attended. The facility is new and beautifully decorated with the needs of their community in mind.My parents are very happy with their new place, my Dad loves not having to do any upkeep or lawn care, and my Mom loves it that the cooking and dishes are not on her list!!The Ackerly was a great decision!!

I have several friends who are residents who are very happy living at the Ackerly. And they have been wonderful partners for the Cedar Mill Historical Society, including having a Cedar Mill History Day, and hosting some of our History Club meetings.

We enjoyed our time at The Ackerly. They have gone through some transition, but have great staff in place. The community is beautiful and they even have Home Instead available to utilize their services as their residents needs increase.

I have lived at The Ackerly for over one and a half years. I am very happy with its location and staff and my friendly neighbors. I love my beautiful two bedroom apt overlooking the gorgeous garden.Management has been veryhelpful,especially Katie Smith, Susan at the front desk, and Al our maintenance man. Of course there are always ways to improve..several moves have been made to improve the dining room food and services as well housekeeping, which I am happy to say is going in the right direction. Noise from residents who disobey the rules of decency has been an issue and currently has been improved greatly. I plan to spend my sunset years here!

My Grandmother lives here and it is a very nice place. The rent is a little high but she is very happy and has made a lot of friends. She does not get hungry very often, and always goes down to the restaurant for her two meals. It is also nice that its right next to Market of Choice and all the restaurants.

Katie Smith was amazing to work with in helping my client Rick get placed in the Ackerly. She facilitated the transition so seamlessly and with a warm and kind spirit along the way. She answered any questions and concerns professionally and made the process seem effortless. She knew exactly what my client needed and worked with his brother in finding the best possible arrangement for Ricks living needs. I would highly recommend Katie as the go to person for anyone needing help in getting a loved one or client placed in a safe, clean and new adult care facility .

We have been extremely pleased with the Ackerly since moving our family member there. His disabilities are not immediately obvious, and they have worked actively with us (we do not live in the state) to maintain the most independence for him, while simultaneously keeping him safe. Its a tricky situation, and we are so happy to have this team on the case. This is not our first facility - weve had years of experience with other family members, and this seems far better than most. The price is lower than comparable residences where we live, and the facility is the most contemporary and attractive weve seen.
