This place is not what it advertises. They have some pretty low quality help, I have smelled marijuana several times when entering the building, my Mother does not receive the care I expected and I have noticed the staff intermingling in a non appropriate manner. The food is below standard, and waiting for some assistance takes for ever. I will not be promoting this residence to anyone in the future. Poorly managed.

I do not have enough words to fully capture the care, humanity, and heart that live inside this community, but I will try. Every single staff member at Grande Ronde Retirement Residence goes above and beyond. This is not surface-level kindness or simply doing a job. This is real, consistent, deeply human care. My mother is treated with dignity, patience, respect, and genuine affection every single day. Life here is active, engaging, and thoughtfully planned. Residents enjoy activities such as Bingo, library visits, Lunch Bunch, and many other opportunities to stay social, mentally stimulated, and connected. There is laughter here. There is purpose. There is community. The dining experience is exceptional. There are multiple meal options at every meal, along with an abundance of snacks available throughout the day. Food is not just nourishment here. It is choice, comfort, and joy. Staff know preferences, take time, and make sure residents feel heard and cared for. When my mother recently experienced a major medical incident, the response from the staff was nothing short of extraordinary. They wrapped our entire family in support through hugs, reassurance, constant communication, and a willingness to do whatever was needed. In one of the hardest moments of our lives, we were not alone. We were carried. I have lived in La Grande for over 25 years, and I can say without hesitation that the new company and management have exceeded every expectation. The building is bright, clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully maintained, but it is the people who make it a home. The staff here does not feel like employees. They feel like family. Entrusting someone you love to others is one of the hardest things you will ever do. Grande Ronde Retirement Residence has earned our complete trust and our deepest gratitude.

Most of these reviews are by stsff members vs residents or residents families which skews the total number of stars...which is what corporate asks each location to do. I am still traumatized from having my mother there. If you think it's a great place, you rarely visit your loved one. Understaffing, poor supervision, unqualified staff, salty, sugary processed food, laundry getting lost n ruined, long waits when help buzzers are rung. Don't fool yourself. Most Senior living is corporate greed, plain n simple...maximize shareholder profits by providing the bare minimal care. Keep em alive so you rake in your monthly fees, but no more. Some staff try very hard but they are poorly trained, hardly supervised, and expected to do more than is possible give typical staffing ratios. I spent enough time there to know that many times, there may be only one staff person at night covering the majority of the facility. Senior care is criminal. We need to do better. It broke a chunk of my heart out to see the conditions and have very little impact on improving it. If your loved one is in a hell hole like this, pay attention...visit OFTEN, ask questions, keep your eyes open and advocate for your family member utilizing the state ombudsman's office and DHS adult protective services when necessary...But know this...complaints are swept under the carpet, placated, and any formal action takes forever and often has an unsatisfactory outcome. A cultural shift on elder care is the only way forward...

I’d like to know who’s actually leaving the positive reviews?? This place is far from decent yet it’s the only place we can keep our family member. Would the staff let their family get treated poorly? Ignored? No! So why do you treat our family this way?? Would you eat the food that is given to these people? Haha if they get the order right. We pay a lot of money for this help so please do better! And if someone presses their button, help them!! Don’t make them wait for hours. You are there to help them! Come on and do better! If something happens to our family member im gonna be very upset! They deserve better than cold food and buttons for help being ignored for hours.

If it weren’t for Sheri at Grande Ronde Retierment I don’t think we would still have my mom. She pushed and pushed and got my mom admitted to GRH even before she was a resident. My mom has been on the assisted living side for a little over a year and we wouldn’t want her to be anywhere else!

GRR came highly recommended so we checked it out for my 91 yoa mom. The staff couldn't have been more hospitable, from the director to the maintenance and kitchen staff. We're IN!

I came from Virginia to my hometown of La Grande to help my mother move into assisted living after a bout of pneumonia. I do not often leave five star reviews but Grande Ronde Retirement Residence earns all five. Everyone here is compassionate and kind, yet professional and capable. I stayed with my mother here for more than a week. The food was good. The sense of community is real. The staff helped my mother and me through a very difficult time. I cannot thank all of you enough for all you do. I appreciate you!

We had a private luncheon for our Mother, Marie Lester,. The meal was delicious. The staff was so helpful and went out of their way to provide every need. They even provided balloons! It was an outstanding experience.

Mom was 100 when she moved into the GRRR and there were concerns someone that old could adapt to a facility. Staff and Mom made it work and she is now over 101. When I left for a week I felt such gratitude to those caregivers that work there. I knew she would be cared for and that they would get hold of me if needed. There are mistakes and misses but the caring is always there. We think the meals are very good for a large group setting. Mom thinks some folks there just need to gripe. I hope they can find more ways to retain some of the great staff.

Amazing place! Amazing staff. Our grandmother was here for a long time and she was always so happy. They took such great care of her. The food was always fresh and good. They always have fun activities for them to participate in and get involved with. The staff is always professional and it’s always clean. Plus my little loves going to visit for the popcorn and ice cream:)

I love this place! I work at a local hospice company and I always look forward to coming to visit patients here. It's such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Plus, I always grab myself some of their homemade ice cream when I come 🙂

I have really enjoyed watching the staff interact and care for the residents. We visit some residents who are part of our church and every time we are there we see the genuine care that the staff has for the residents. It's extremely refreshing to see the kind and attentive interaction that takes place here. I highly recommend it!
