Years ago I had a friend that lived at Canfield Place and I always felt comfortable when I came to visit her. She liked it also. So when it came time to consider places for my mom to live the top of my list was Canfield Place. I was happy that things worked out that we could get a place for her here. From the very start they were easy to work with and took good care of my mom. The staff became like family. From Nancy the dining room manager to Whitney (one of our favorite medaids) everyone was not only kind and caring to my mother but to my whole family. The activities at Canfield are varied and top notch. Destiny does a great job and provides something for everyone. My mom wasn't much for the activities especially in her later time at the facility but she did love the musicians they brought in and the holiday brunches for the entire family. My mothers care was well coordinated and I was always kept informed of any changes to her health or well being that they noticed. Towards the end of my mothers life (and time at Canfield) we were concerned that she needed more care than Canfield was set up to provide. Sabrina was wonderful to help us arrange for Hospice and wanted to keep my mother at Canfield if at all possible. When I thought they might "boot us out" Sabrina expressed that; "this is your mom's home" and that they would help us figure out how to make it possible to keep her "in her home". I am hopefully many many years away from needing this kind of care but sometime in the future.....my husband and I would definitely consider Canfield Place as a place to call "home".

We recently moved my sister into Canfield Place. I knew from the first day I walked into the environment that it was warm, loving and very inclusive. As we got to know the staff, and all the employees, there was no question that this is Canfield’s superpower. My sister fought hard not to be moved, but she couldn’t be happier. She is engaged every day with Residence and the staff keep a special eye her as they do with all of the residence. If you are considering assisted living for anyone you love, please make sure you don’t miss Canfield Place in Beaverton.❤️

We had been looking for a better fit for our moms assisted living environment as she was not happy with the Assisted living facility in which she has been living for two years. We worked with Marjan to see if we would be able to move our mom to Canfield Place. Marjan was extremely supportive and helpful in determining if the move would be appropriate for our mom. Unfortunately, since our mom needed some specialized care that Canfield Place was not licensed for, we were saddened that it didnt work out because we could tell that Marjan took a very real interest in the people living in the facility and in assuring us that the quality of care at Canfield Place is very good! When it was determined that our mom would not be able to move to Canfield Place, Marjan even helped to guide us to an assisted living facility that would better for our moms needs, which was very much appreciated as we dont live in the same state as our mom!

Canfield is filled with lovely residents ,Family atmosphere, and wonderful staff of all departments. The goal of staff is to ensure a well adjusted atmosphere for residence and family members to feel at home in their new environment. Everyone cares about each other like family and many activities are offered to ensure the quality of living is at a high standard. Everyone is loved and appreciated for whom they are regardless of who they are. All are welcome !

I have been working at Canfield Place for 4 years and counting. I started off in a part-time position which quickly evolved into a full time position (working 2 administrative roles that would normally be PT). Just 11 months into the job an opening in a higher up position became free. I applied and interviewed for it and have been doing that job happily ever since. I'm not going to lie and say this is a relaxing or easy going job. It is fast paced and it can get really stressful. The important thing for me, in weighing the decision of staying with an employer, is how management treats staff and its customers (or in this case residents), especially when things get stressful. And with Canfield Place, I am happy to report that management not only supports and encourages you in your position, but they care about their residents, resident's family members and, of course, their staff. Our current GM is a very compassionate and responsible leader (though by no means a pushover). I have seen her help out in the kitchen, dining room, with driving, working the front desk, etc. Her number one priority is making Canfield Place a wonderful place to live and to work. She is more concerned about finding the right fit for all positions whether it is a server or a med aid or nurse or supervisor. She won't just hire anyone in order to fill the numbers. And she will not tolerate anyone who obviously displays any form of harassment or disrespect for coworkers and/or residents. If you want to work hard, be appreciated for your contributions, be encouraged in advancing your career whether it is within this community or at another Leisure Care property or even outside the company, then this is the place for you. If you want to retire somewhere where it feels like your neighbors are friends and family and the staff is respectful and caring then I highly recommend Canfield Place. I highly encourage you to talk to the other residents, look at our DHS CBC Survey results (available for viewing to anyone in the community), and visit a few times to see if it is the right fit for you. I realize this is a unique review in that it is from a current employee but I feel it is important to note that there is a reason I keep working here and if I were for any reason to move on to a different career path, Canfield Place would still be an experience I cherish and miss. I love the management team. I think all of the employees who have been here for years and even most of the newer hires are great people to work with. I really enjoy how they encourage staff to have fun and to take time off to spend with family, making sure proper coverage is provided. I've known a lot of other employees like me who started in one position and either advanced up in that department or switched to a role they preferred in another department. I feel secure in my position here and do not see any reason to leave. I appreciate that if for any reason, I needed to leave Oregon, that Leisure Care will try their best to find me a position near wherever I would move and I would have the support of my current manager. Things can get hectic and stressful but overall I find this job incredibly rewarding, both emotionally and financially. I hope you find this review helpful in determining whether this is the place for you or not. Again, if you're a hard worker and you're looking for a career, not just a job, then I highly recommend Canfield Place for you. As for those who might be looking for a place to live with assisted living available, this is a community that feels like home, not just some facility with sterile surroundings. There is a good mix of people who are independent and those who may need a little more assistance but still want to be physically and/or mentally active and socially engaging. This is a place I would want to retire in and I'm not sure many people can say that about a place for which they work. Thank you!

My dad is doing great and quite happy at Canfield Place. The people there are wonderful. What really made them shine is that a lot of staff have their own families living there. The sales director has been there since they opened 20 years ago. The volunteers either have or had family members living there. The food is great and they serve you at your table restaurant style. If you don't like the special, they hand you a menu to choose something else. Breakfast is cooked to order. My dad loves his room. He has a huge studio where he is very comfortable. He has a ground floor unit and those units have two doors. One door has access to the outdoors to their own patio area. I love the busy atmosphere of seeing the residents out and about doing things. There is activity and socializing going on everywhere. The even got my dad to join the exercise class. It is close and convenient for me to get to on public transportation and makes it easy to visit my dad often. It is a warm and cozy smaller community. It is easy to get to know everyone here, more of a family home feeling. I'm quite pleased and I would definitely recommend this community to others.

Canfield Place is doing a great job. It is a very good fit for my mom, she is much happier now. The staff is very friendly and caring. The communication is great. They always keep me informed and call when something unusual happens. They are always looking out for her and her well-being. I feel secure knowing that make sure she is following the doctor's orders on her care. They make sure she has her hearing aid in. They go above and beyond to make sure she is taken care of, and they are very thorough. I've eaten there a couple of times, I think the food is great. They have an alternative menu if you want to choose something else. They have great choices. They have activities and they encourage the residents to participate. The exercise director has invited her to participate in exercises at a level that she participates in. She has gone down to movie night and they have social hours she likes to participate in. They offer transportation for outside excursions. Definitely a warm and inviting atmosphere. Outside it is nicely decorated in the back area with gardens and a fountain. I would highly recommend this community to others.

We have only positive things to say about Canfield Place. They have great activities and things to do if one chooses to participate. He did not wish to participate and did not feel pressured to do so. The housekeeping is excellent. The staff is very friendly. It is a beautiful place and well maintained.
