Reviews The Carrington Retirement Residence
July 2024
If you have a family member here, get them out! This place has several violations against it and is under inspection of the RHRA. The founder [name removed] is non-compliant of the rules and regulations of the RHRA as well as the Ontario Labour Relations Board. The Fire Department has issued violations as well. MPP [name removed] has been contacted with no concern regarding the matter and local media as well. Hard to understand how this man is allowed to keep doing what he's doing and abusing these residents and staff. They have even been put in situations where there has not been enough food for them, all while he has not paid staff for weeks, or bills or property taxes. No food delivery service or garbage removal because of unpaid bills. This place is disgusting, filthy and rodent ridden. Several complaints have already been made, but apparently more need to be. All staff walked out at the end of May and new staff are not trained or qualified. The residents that are still stuck there deserve better than this. [name removed] should at least be fined if not jailed. He should be ashamed to show his face.

I say to the last reviewer, if it is true, its your family that is to blame. That's along time to put up with so called abuse on a family. Member.. Im a psw in another facility, my mom is at this one, she loves it and so does her family, Food and staff r amazing with her.. and breaking ground on new facility..way to go !!
April 2023
Director of care [Name Removed] is arrogant and caters to her psws so much that she does a disservice to the residents. Food is mediocre to poor, cook is a shrew and most staff dont know how to care for residents...word of advice..anywhere but this place.
October 2021
My Mum-in-Law resided there for approx. 8 years. First of all, residents are encouraged to give up their family doctor and use the doctor who they have some kind of contract with...who visits not-often-enough. No one knows when she is coming because family are not informed. The 9-to-5 RPN decides who sees said Doctor. As well, they want residents to use their drug service....and scold family members who go to a drug store to fill scripts from Emerg. Docs. Which bring another issue...resident was ill on a weekend and we took her to Trenton Emerg. Well I can't tell you how much grief we went through for making that decision! The only good thing I can say about this facility was the meals seemed good. She initially went to this facility because she fell in her apt. and broke her arm. During her stay at The Carrington, she had numerous falls resulting in....concussion;; broken hip; sprained wrist;. You may ask why she was left there for so long? Because the system didn't allow for her to be pulled from there and put in LTC without her consent....and the doctor who worked for The Carrington certainly wasn't going to...she was happy there because her Alzheimers prevented her from noticing the lack of proper medical care. By the time one of the County nursing professionals stepped in and started the process for LTC and she was moved to HJ McFarland, she was in such bad shape that she lived only one month. Just want to prevent another family from going through a similar experience.

My grandmother has been there since December and loves it. She feels safe and they have daily activities or exercises for them.
