Reviews Lakeside Terrace Supportive Living Residence
October 2025
As someone who worked at SupportiveLiving.ca, I can tell you that the people behind this organization truly care. We support individuals who are often overlooked — people with complex needs, addictions, or mental health challenges. It’s not always easy, but we do our best every single day to provide safe, stable housing and emotional support. Many of the negative reviews come from people who never lived here or from former residents who left under difficult circumstances. They don't reflect the daily effort that goes into supporting our residents and helping them succeed in incredibly tough situations.

Do NOT send anyone you care about here. Staff is rarely to be seen, food is scarce, its been infested with bedbugs for months or even years. Residents are being eaten alive as they sleep, its unsanitary, holes in screens, visible dirt and mold. The residents are neglected and suffering. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN

My aunt lived at Lakeside Terrace until she went into the hospital emaciated. Covered head to toe in bugs. She contracted serious case of lice. Her scalp was full of scabs and sores from the lice. The home did not treat the environment. They cut off my aunt’s hair. Bugs were seen all over her head, on her clothes and when the PSW went to shower her lice was seen all over the bathroom counter. In the sink and all over the shower head. Also you cannot bring anything to the forefoot [name removed]. She will get very hostile. In March my aunt informed me along with other residents that all they served for meals and meals are included in the rent was rice. Just rice. No vegetables or protein. My aunt paid 1000 a month to share a room. Can you imagine? Maybe 20 residents paying 1000 a month and they can’t provide adequate meals? The infestation of bed bugs and lice was so bad the care agency informed [name removed] they wouldn’t be able to come in to do nursing or PSW care. My aunt would not have been receiving her meds or having the wound on her back. The staff that work there are all from India and they speak no English. They say they do an assessment before allowing a person to live in their dumps. One is can they evacuate a building independently in an emergency. She had a walker so no she would not have been able to do that. You are better off in a homeless encampment! Other types of people who live here people out of jail and mental health units. Drug dealers and users. Do not go to any place owned by [name removed]! This way he won’t make any money and have to go away!

This place is disgusting! My aunt lived here and due to the severe bedbugs and lack of food she ended up in hospital fighting for her life for the past month. Did they let her family know? Nope! All they have been feeding these residents my and said and I asked other residents is strictly rice because of the high cost of food! My aunt was supposed to have a psw who failed to report sores on her that bedbugs kept biting at. Now they are believed to be skin cancer! Sharma said they assess each resident to make sure they are a fit. Because they are a boarding house only. Why are they called supportive housing? Why don’t they do the things they say they do on their website? They charge these residents 1100 a month. For a tiny room they have to share. Also they can contact a power or attorney and ask for whatever they want and since my aunts was port cares and they don’t care: they sent it! I believe they stole my aunts money. Like they do all of the residents. They barely feed them and the bedbug situation is so bad! Check google! There is a pic of a mattress full of bedbugs My aunt is in the hospital right now with no clothes what’s so ever because hers are ridden with bedbugs. So we can’t take them! This place nearly killed my aunt! Do not go to this place! You are better off in a tent city!

My name is Jordan, I do happen to live independently here in my own apartment and do use a little help with trusteeship only, I did inquire about my transition from my own independence to this home as I do have a serious problem with keeping things clean and feel way and more less energetic due a so called medication adjustment and then I say to everyone that I lost my complete independence to Bethesda Adult Clinical Services, I do hear a lot of slander and non sense and horrible things about this place from Comments Living Port Colborne Wainfleet, but I still have a hard time believing that the owner Charlie or whoever is not a very nice man, but I still have not lost hope to believe that they would get away with such slandering and that stuff and let them stay open, but a boarding home could actually save my life one day and I hope they would be a very happy place and one day I hope this will be true. And also this place is actually on a great piece of land where you can get a great view of the lake, and it is beautiful, and the views are amazing, but it would break my heart if this resource was not used as a place to live and only for really bad people, but as long as I say and what I was told by many people is residents have a right to refuse than maybe this place can save my life. Thanks Lakeside Terrace.

I went to lakeside a few times hoping things would change and get better(WRONG),to start with the meals are sickening (ALL OF THEM)its absolutely filthy, those poor people to have to live like that, it was either pasta or rice for supper, lunch 1 piece of lunch meat and nothing else, one time i was there and the girl working could not speak or understand english, another time the girl that was on was either outside smoking OR on her cell phone, it is FILTHY, they showed me the BED BUGS they have to sleep with on their sheets and on their pillows, one man there can hardly walk, with no medical attention, no walker or cane AND no help, the activities there are smoking, smoking dope, and cigarette butts off the ground, they charge them 10.00 more for cigarettes, and there cigarettes are from ther reserve, my friend has diabetes, they do nothing to help the people that have this, i have reported ALL of this the government agencies are totally DISGUSTED they dont get fruit, they get very little vegetables very little food and they are always hungry,i could go on for a long time,i hope something happens soon, those poor people, the woman who said she was going to try and close them down GOOD for you i wish i knew how to get ahold of her i would help CLOSING that WHOLE down. will write more soon. DO NOT SEND ANY FAMILY MEMBER TO LAKESIDE TERRACE EVER. I do not suggest sending any family to this disgusting place. I lived there for 6 months. Other than the few friends that I made there, it was hell. My roommate didn't change her clothes or even bathe herself the whole time I was there. They a very bad case of bed bugs every month to 2 months. They don't clean the rooms much, lucky once a week. The food is all carbohydrates, hardly any vegetable or protein. I am a diabetic and they do not follow any diet for diabetics, they many diabetics and they will get sick and probably even die there. They are not allowed to have locks on their doors for privacy even when they are in their rooms. The staff all yells. The woman in the kitchen doesn't wear a mask, gloves and who knows if she washes her hands, inward told by one of the residents. She comes and goes to the building everyday, she is putting all of those residents at risk. I have had people call the health inspector to go and check them out when they least expect it. I will be also posting this right on the Lakeside terrace website, so everyone will see it.They advertise that they have activites, there is no activites. While I lived there I did not even want my family to come there to see me, because it is the most disgusting place to live. I will make it my jo to try to close this place down.

THIS HOME SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN! We finally got our relative moved, it was filthy, the food was horrible and usually pasta (as they were too cheap to spend money on nutritious foods and pasta is cheap). There were feces smeared on the floor and not cleaned up for days. The staff were rude and spend more time on their phones and outside the front smoking that looking after the residents. Money went missing from the so called "trust account" and of course they could not find out where it had gone. Anyway - if you are considering this place DON'T. I had to click on a star but this is not even worthy of one star

I have stayed here. I was there from June 2019-December 2019. I would not recommend this place for any relative of mine or anyone I know. It is a disgusting place. The food is not good at all and not good for any diabetic person. The rooms are not clean, I have had the worse experience of my life. I was in a room with a woman that never changed her clothes or never showered the whole time I was there. As for the roommate that I had, I spoke to other residents and they told me that she has not showered for many years. She smelled, she stood from me. Also other people stole from me. She swore at me, she stood from me she us the most disgusting, ignorant person that I have met in my life. The staff is not nice at all. The girl in the kitchen named Wanda is very rude and lazy. I found out from the residents that I still talk to, that she doesn't wear a mask or gloves or doesn't follow any COVID-19 rules. She us putting all if the residents and ant visitors at risk everyday. I had a few friends there, that I am trying to get out of there. They have had bed bugs there for many years, they clear it up and they just keep coming back. There is no basic tv service in any if the rooms, like it says on the website. There are no activites, they have nothing that the website says they do. I am very happy and glad to be out of there. I am trying to get this home shut down, because it is far from sanitary and clean and safe for anyone that lives there. PLEASE DO NOT PUT ANY IF YOUR RELATIVES OR FRIENDS IN THIS PLACE. I BEG YOU.

I started working at White House Lodge Supportive Living residence two months ago and what can I say? I have worked in many group homes but found SupportiveLiving.ca to be a large, welcoming company, offering so much opportunity to grow. My decision to leave the other group homes and work at SupportiveLiving.ca was solely based on the amazing support I received from their management team. It is a breath of fresh air to know my voice is heard and they are committed to my success. While my home base is White House Lodge, I was given the opportunity to travel to other Supportive Living residences. It gives me the chance to work with a diverse set of residents, with various diagnoses, enabling me to learn different ways of how to help them. I am also delighted to work with a new community in direct coordination with churches or food banks. My job is never boring and my work keeps me on my toes. I highly recommended working here. SupportiveLiving.ca is a great company invested in its staff, clients and residents!--Kenneth K

I was given the opportunity to volunteer with SupportiveLiving.ca. This past summer I was at Lakeside Terrace Supportive Living residence and helped looking after the residents. It was a rewarding experience, one that I will never forget! Thank you to the CEO, Vishal Chityal, for being a great mentor and giving me the chance to give back. In a time where homelessness is becoming a crisis on our community, he is keeping them off the street, housed and supported!

I was at a different home on Welland Street. Been here 18 years. The cooks are lovely and I eat good.I like the staff and the other residents. The staff are nice to me and like my family. We have fun together watching movie and tv. This is my home.

I started working with the company three years ago and glad that I had the opportunity to do so. It's been a great experience working in the different homes like Lakeside Terrace with all the residents and management. The personal growth and being supported by management has been great. The residents are friendly and appreciate everything you do. Thank you to Supportive Living team for being there for people who just need a little extra help to make their life better. Supportive Living is a great place to work!
