My experience with John Joseph Place has been nothing short of exceptional. My personal circumstances made it very challenging to care for my ailing mother when my father passed away and JJP helped me through a very difficult time by providing the support and guidance through the transition process from home to retirement community. This is not what I expected assisted living to be like. There is a real sense of community and the staff and management exhibit genuine empathy for the residents. My mother often pocket dials me and I get a first-hand view at the interactions between residents and staff. The staff are always going out of their way to provide for the little things that make a difference in quality of life. I don’t see lip service or promises, what I see are concrete actions that improve her mood and health on a daily basis. The team at JJP have their hands full with my mother (as I’m sure they each have their own stories), but they manage each day with professionalism and care. They regularly interact with me and proactively support my mother’s emotional and physical well- being. It’s the little things that matter- whether its engaging in activities or sharing stories, I can tell that the team cares. I truly thank the management and all staff at JJP for the love they put into caring for my mother’s needs. I thank them for helping and supporting me through this difficult process, and because of their efforts, I am able to spend more quality time with my mother. If one of your loved ones is approaching this stage in their lives, I highly recommend considering JJP as the place for this next phase.

Don’t Judge By What’s on the Outside A member of our family has been living at John Joseph Place for almost a year now and we’d like to acknowledge the tremendous care that he’s received from the wonderful staff there. We’ve all heard horror stories about the care at some places that’s not the case here. He’s been very well looked after, hasn’t had a single complaint and just loves the staff. Food is one complaint many people have in hospitals and care centres – not at John Joseph Place. The food is cooked onsite, made fresh and tastes great (according to our guy). This basic need, when done well, can make a big difference in a person’s day. We can’t say enough about the amazing staff. They have a full calendar of activities for the residents, keeping them active and social. Personal care is not overlooked either. They check on our guy regularly to make sure all is well. Even going above and beyond when they can. For example: they have a small collection of DVD movies that our family member has worked his way through. Knowing he loves movies, a staff member takes him across the street to the library every 2 weeks to get more movies or the odd book. Not only does he really appreciate the chance to get outside but comes back with enough to keep him entertained for a while. A small thing that means a lot to someone who is used to being able to do these kinds of things himself. There are many more examples of just how wonderful the staff are but it’s probably best said with… Don’t judge something (or someone) by what’s on the outside. John Joseph Place isn’t the prettiest care centre in town but inside it’s full of loving, compassionate, caring people who are doing an amazing job of looking after people, giving them the respect they deserve and making their life just a little better during what is a a tough time in their lives. When you understand that...then you'll understand what a beautiful building it really is. A huge Thank You and big hug to all the wonderful staff and management at John Joseph Place for all you do!

The day I walked into John Joseph Place to submit my resume I stood at the front desk taking it all in. I was greeted by residents and staff who all looked very happy and were willing to answer all my questions. The atmosphere was cheery, clean and inviting. There were residents out enjoying activities and looking at their activity calendar I could see they were kept very busy! Standing there I had a good feeling about John Joseph Place, it felt " homey" I am proud to say I am now a proud member of the JJP family! The staff are amazing, they're compassionate, professional and knowledgeable. The meals are fantastic and they fo cater to specific diets and special requests. The management and activity coordinator go above and beyond their call of duty in many ways and always striving to improve. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for care of a loved one or a great job opportunity! John Joseph Place is not just retirement living it truly is our home. Kristine Morden psw

My Mother is at John Joseph. She has been there for several weeks and loves it. She is happy with her room, enjoys all meals and is making friends. Mom is taking part in activities which is new for her. The staff are all amazing and always have time to talk with me about mom. I am so happy that mom is happy.’— My father has joined my Mother at John Joseph and I couldn’t be more pleased. The staff is such a wonderful team with every one working as a team to provide the best possible care. The food is enjoyed by both . This is an amazing place and I am grateful for the wonderful support they provide. UPDATE: I have both my parents living in John Joseph Place. Mom has been there since November 2024 and dad December 2024 . Both my parents are very happy. They are well taken care of physically and mentally. They enjoy their meals and especially the variety. The staff are amazing, from the administrative staff, nursing, psw, maintenance, activity director, everyone works as a team. When visiting I have witnessed the kindness of everyone who works there resulting in a truly happy home for all residents. The home is beautiful, clean and resembles a home not an institution. I am very grateful for the love and care given to my parents and I sleep well because they are there. I recommend John Joseph Place to anyone who wants a great home for a loved one.

Very compassionate, caring staff who personally know the residents and their needs. Easy to work with and contact so that communication is open and friendly. The continually updated care plan keeps everyone in the loop and aware of expectations and resident needs. Very impressive! Meals are terrific! It feels very much like a home environment instead of an institution, yet the standard and quality is there! My father is very happy and content there. Thank you to the staff for their thoughtful and excellent care!

I cannot say enough good things about all of the staff at John Joseph Place. My mom was placed there in an emergency situation and they have gone out of their way to take care of her and meet her complex needs. Emma and Elyse, the nursing staff and PSW staff have all been kind, caring and incredibly good at communication with our family. Although an older building it is clean, comfortable and filled with amazing people that really care about what they do to serve the needs of the residents.

The young blonde girl is very sweet to the residents! Always delightful! The narrow hallways are an astetic touch! Not my style but some adore! Sketch location near a crematorium, however I can over look that factor! Better then all other facilities hence the 5 out 5 star review!
