Rebecca was the most kind hearted individual in the whole residence it warmed me every time i saw her and her kindness filled my heart. whenever i went to take care of my grandpa with Alzheimers she always helped him remember. she even took my grandpa off life support so he can rest, she told me that someone makes her feel uncomfortable at work named "king" please do something about this for she puts the sun in sunshine.

My dad is a resident at this beautifully maintained property, located directly across the street from Lake Ontario. Staffing and care was the primary focus when moving him from another assisted living retirement residence that resulted in him being admitted to hospital due to lack of care. My dad has been a resident here for 6 months now on the 3rd floor. The staff are amazing, loving and attentive. The time they spend with the residents, sitting by their side, talking to them, genuinely shows their understanding and compassion, especially with those with advanced dimensia. When looking for a residence for your loved ones look for the smiles on the faces on the current residents while you visit, this will give you a good indication of standard of care. At Sunrise Burlington you will be greeted with these smiles the moment you walk in the doors. Great job to the staff and keep up the good work!

My grandmother lives here on the 3rd floor (memory care) and it is AMAZING! We love it, and most importantly my grandmother loves it. There are so many fun activities, every time we see her she tells us how much she enjoys all the things the does, and how someone comes to get her to do things on the other floors all the time (they cannot leave the 3rd floor unaccompanied but staff come and bring my grandmother to all the socials/games/exercise classes etc that happen on the other floors throughout the day). They also have a beautiful outdoor terrace on the 3rd floor residents can access so they always feel like they can get outside. My grandmother says it’s like living in a fancy hotel, and people only do what they want to do. If someone doesn’t feel like joining an activity they never have to. She loves that they have flexible 2 hour windows to choose when they want to eat, and get choices for all the meals (she really likes the food and we love that it’s healthy), they take her for walks over to the park that’s on the lake, the staff is just so wonderful with her. They have live music come in, dancing, dogs come to visit, students come to talk to them, she is always busy which she loves so much. They also have a foot care nurse come in, a helper puts cream on her feet for her every night, they do her laundry and help her shower if she’d like (but are very responsive to her wishes so she feels respected), they ensure she always takes her medication at the right time, etc. When she lived on her own we were very worried about her, and we weren’t sure how the move would go, but it’s been the best thing ever. We also have the Smile App so they send us pictures almost daily so we can see the activities my grandmother is doing. It’s so great to be able to see she is happy when we can’t always visit because of weather, work schedules, etc.

Here's the thing about Sunrise Burlington...every employee in that residence, from management to housekeeping to reception, actually cares about the lives of the people they are helping. There is so much humanity in this place, so much attention, intelligence, and professionalism. We moved our Mum into Sunrise after some extremely traumatic situations in a previous elder care facility. Since moving her to Sunrise Burlington she has had a renaissance in terms of her ability to connect with the world around her. Things I never thought possible happened because of the hard work and creative thinking of the team at Sunrise. It hasn't all been easy, but even on the most difficult and painful of days, these people lead with their hearts. It beautiful and humbling and I am so grateful to all of them. I know my wonderful Mum is in the best hands...Sunrise Burlington is a very special place.

I cannot express enough what a wonderful facility this is. The staff are highly professional, welcoming and compassionate. They communicate frequently and genuinely do make a difference. The facilities are spotless and comfortable. The activities are well organized and the staff makes sure the residents are engaged. The Sunrise mobile app is a nice feature for families. My father is a new resident at Sunrise and my family are so happy that we chose this place for him. We can finally be at peace knowing he is looked after with so much heart and soul from so many of the caregivers & all of the staff. This golden gem on the lake in Burlington is second to none. Friendly and professional staff, no questions there! Extremely clean in suites, halls, dining and lounges. Dining room tables and chairs are well placed and residents are able to move freely between tables, -greeting friends. Great variety of activities and fun to join in. All staff are professional, nursing staff are all approachable, great listeners and are on the mark for care. Admin is awesome and second to none-really! My only note is : decor is getting tired, some wear showing.needs an update . I can’t thank the staff , admin enough (and all the others) for welcoming and supporting my family as they have for 2 years. I look forward to working with and building more memories . Sunrise of Burlington is simply amazing. Moving into senior living is not an easy choice for any family, however, staff and facilities at Sunrise have made this choice easier for us. Specifically, EVERY SINGLE staff at Sunrise of Burlington are kind, compassionate, warm and attentive. The resident director, marketing/admissions, nurses, all the way to kitchen staff only focus on the resident. Truly, they are all genuinely wonderful people!! HR must have a knack for finding gems because senior care is not an easy profession. Ultimately, staff at Sunrise of Burlington really care about their residents and place the needs of these residents above all. Perhaps because the facility is smaller, staff know everything about my mom likes/dislikes. They treat mom with kindness, warmth, smiles and a hello all day, every day!! Concierge even welcomes me with a big smile too! the food is very good, with special consideration for vegan dietary constraints mom has. There are activities EVERY DAY from 1030-4 pm to keep residents body and mind active. Plus, there is constant communication with a staff member from Sunrise. Sunrise of Burlington was recommended as the best Burlington.and it’s true. It’s worth every penny for peace of mind my mother is in the best care.

My 95 year old Mom is a new resident at Sunrise and my family cannot say enough about the excellent care and compassion she receives here. The entire staff have been generous and friendly to all residents and visitors from the moment we stepped in. Everyone from the front desk to the administrators to the wellness staff and support workers are so kind and attentive to all the residents. There are activities daily if the residents are inclined and the activity coordinator is excellent at keeping the residents engaged. When I walk in, there is almost always an activity taking place! The dining room is elegant and meals are nicely presented and healthy. I feel like I am in a lovely hotel. It is a cheerful place to be. I cannot say enough about the excellent support workers here who really care for the needs of the residents. They are the sweetest and warmest and most efficient workers I have ever encountered. They are always cheerful and super attentive to my Mom’s needs. They are excellent and do an amazing job. I feel that my Mom is really taken care of and happy here. I am glad to have found this beautiful facility!

Our mom had been living on her own in a retirement residence, but unfortunately had started to decline quite rapidly in the last 5 months. Between being hospitalized and needing much more care, and desperately trying to stay away from longterm care, we were faced with limited options to meet all her needs. From the moment we spoke to Shea, and then later Tonia, we knew we had found the right place. Every single person we have encountered and dealt with at Sunrise, has been incredible. From the care management team to the nursing staff, the concierges, the recreation staff, everyone has been extremely kind, gentle, attentive and available to our mom (and us). They treat her like she’s family. They have assisted us with the coordination of Home and Community Care Support, they continuously take an active role in my mom’s care by asking us questions, having the doctor call when we had concerns about her pain management, and so on. Yes, this residence is on the pricey side, but knowing our mom is being cared for so well, having the peace of mind that she is always checked on and always tended to - makes it worth every penny.

After both of my parents suffered stokes, I was able to find a residence that was not set up to offer my mother the assistance she required. Fortunately, after a short time, I was able to move my parents to Sunrise in Burlington. From the first day at Sunrise, my father was extremely happy with the care my mother was receiving from the staff at Sunrise. Not only was the care superior, the food, the building itself (their room looked out onto Lake Ontario) and the activities were all far superior. My father was able to walk to the plaza across the street, which had all of the extras they wanted, which was sweets for them and dog treats for the dogs that came to Sunrise. My father said Sunrise wanted to make him keep on living, whereas the other location did not. Another major difference between Sunrise and the other location was the medial staff and the greater availability of a doctor. At Sunrise the doctor came more often and was available more hours. The PSWs and the cleaning staff were always there to help my parents and any resident. All of the staff at Sunrise were always available and friendly would be able to update me on anything my parents needed, or what care they were giving, if it had changed. What I liked was, at Sunrise there were PSWs assigned to the residents, so they got to know the residents and were able to see if the resident had any changes that may need observation. This was comforting to know. During Covid I was always updated on my parent’s health. The staff did everything they could to enable contact between my parent’s and our family members. Last year my father’s health deteriorated rapidly, resulting in him being hospitalized. The hospital staff wanted to send my father back to Sunrise, even though his care requirements were beyond what Sunrise could offer. Tonia, the Executive Director, worked with me to get my father moved to a long-term care facility. Tonia did not have to help me. She could have put income for Sunrise over a resident’s needs. She did not do that. My father passed away shortly after moving from Sunrise. The Sunrise staff were very helpful in taking care of my mother and dealing with any issues she had, while I was not able to be around. I wish to thank Tonia and all of the staff at Sunrise of Burlington, those who are still there and those who have moved on, who helped my parents. Your efforts made my parents happier, especially through Covid. Some may say the extra cost to live at Sunrise is not worth it. My experience is I disagree. For what the difference in the cost was, the service was worth far more. I would recommend Sunrise of Burlington as a place that your family member will be taken care of. David Lang

Full disclosure in response to prior reviews - I am a local guide with some repute on Google. I have not been coerced in anyway. If you review some of my reviews you will see I do not review positive without reason and when negative, I do not hold back. But to the review of Sunrise. My 91 year old father was lucky enough to find his permanent home here after breaking his shoulder in a fall from his scooter. My Dad is receiving excellent care at Sunrise. The wellness team especially have provided attentive, knowledgeable and loving care. Each staff member has shown compassion and genuine affection for my Dad and his cat, that has been allowed to occupy his suite with him. At times I have expressed concern for various issues, and each time without fail, my concerns have effectively been addressed without question. I have observed staff with other residents going out of their way to assist and comfort them. Having my Dad reside his final days here is a blessing. Now it's not cheap and that is probably my only negative comment. But in my mind you get what you pay for and I feel that my Dad is getting the best possible care, from the best people in the business. I thank all Sunrise staff and management from the bottom of my heart, especially during the difficult days of the pandemic lock downs.

My parents came to Sunrise in 2018 and eventually my father was moved up to the memory floor before his death last year. Throughout his battle with Alzheimer's and illness, the staff were incredible. Their kindness and compassion for my whole family got us through it. My mother is still there, surrounded by people that treat her with respect, love and humour. Throughout the Covid pandemic, they have really been exceptional. My mother loves the people there, is very happy and as her family, we are extremely grateful.

Because of covid I couldn't tour Sunrise or meet the staff before dad moved in but the staff have been exceptionally welcoming and kind. Today a manager asked me how I was doing! Now that's caring! Today I also had my first FaceTime visit with dad and when he started to cry the Wonderful staff person sitting with him was so kind and comforted him when I was not there to do it. I live 3 hours away so FaceTime visits will be important. Thank you to the sunrise staff for arranging these visits. I feel like dad is in good hands.

Incredible staff who strive to provide dignity and compassion to seniors in their elderly years. The attentive PSWs really do love and respect their residents. My father-in-law received excellent care during the final year of his life. The facility is well maintained, there are are good meal options and they provided a very safe Covid experience for all the residents. They also keep honest and open lines of communication with the family of the residents.

It’s super cool that the bridge is all there is from Burlington to Hamilton. Perfect for exercise, picnics, relaxation and literally everything. There is a huge beach close by too! Amazing to spend the whole day there.

This review is long overdue. My mother resided here for 4 1/2 years while suffering from dementia. It is an extremely difficult time for everyone involved. The care and compassion she received from the staff at Sunrise and especially from Jean and her team on the reminiscence floor was outstanding. The support they offered me was indispensable.

I have found the team who run this residence - and especially the extraordinary group who work on the memory care floor - to be compassionate, diligent and professional. The management team is approachable and the staff reach out to me on a regular basis. My Uncle is very well cared for and this alleviates so much stress. My grandma lived here for 9 years and they treated her like she was their own mother. They knew what she enjoyed and made sure that no matter how non communicative she became, she received the same love and care. They showed so much love towards her that it was truly her home. She lived on the third floor and when she passed, we were shown such compassion from the entire staff who seemed just as sad as us. I'm sorry anyone had a poor experience at this location because we are forever grateful to them for caring for my grandma as they did.

- Schedule a tour and visit the physical location to make sure community description is accurate.
- Confirm with community manager that living and services required for you or your loved one's unique needs and budget are met.
- Check with state government websites for additional provider licensing and information.

Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
