My 93 year old Mother-in-law is currently blessed to be a new (11-2-19) resident to the Gardens at Westlake. While it isnt new or newly renovated like many assisted living communities in our area, I have found the shining is in each and every employee within the building. From administration to nursing, the caregivers, dining room, activities, front desk and even housekeeping staffs are truly the nicest and most passionate people I have ever met! Each and every employee has a REAL and dedicated interest to the residents day in and day out. They have come to feel like family to my MIL, my husband and myself. The quality of care is unmatched and I know she is in loving hands at the beginning and end of everyday. I am grateful to each and every staff member for helping us with this transition after living independently was no longer viable.

My mom and dad moved into the Gardens in April of 2014 and became very comfortable living there after a natural transition from their home of 40+ years. After mom's passing, 1-1/2 years later, dad has adjusted to his new life without mom. This transition could not have happened if it weren't for the comforting and caring staff at the Gardens. Beth has led the way with her kindness and has gone far beyond her job description to comfort Dad and get him involved with daily activities. The nursing staff, including Paola, Jennifer, Laci, Noreen, Colleen and Lisa have been extremely affective in attending to dad's extensive medical needs and communicate with us and dad's specialists to adjust medications. The dining room staff, including Becky, Gavin and Rene are very friendly and willing to make adjustments to meals and dad really loves the food...especially breakfast. Alice is always quick to put a smile on a resident or family member's face in the dining room. Housekeeping is done very professionally on a weekly basis and Dawn even returns dad's clean clothes to drawers and closets. Caregivers are available to help dad when needed and Pricilla is always available for a comforting/encouraging comment and on occasion, a teasing threat of the dreaded 'cold' shower. Friendly faces, Barb, Dawn, Tammi and Sue, greet my wife and I as we arrive at the front desk and are quick to answer any questions and more. Overall Dad is extremely happy to be a resident at the Gardens and I feel extremely lucky and grateful that he feels this way.

I have done special programs and visited residents at the Gardens at Westlake. My experience has been wonderful every time. The staff at the Gardens is very welcoming and helpful. Jason Stitt, Director of Fun lives up to his title! He is a very hands on Director, he is talented in many ways, from singing, driving the bus and arranging a full schedule for the residents. His assistant Beth Tousley, Fun Coordinator is always in touch with the residents. Louise Ceepo, Community Relations Coordinator comes up with quality programs to include the Community and showcase their great facility. Mary Lou Spagnola, Director of Community Relations also does a great job. Walking in the front door it is very clean and staff members smile and greet you. Everyone from Housekeeping, Dining, Personal Aides and Maintenance are helpful. Several of my friends have lived at the Gardens and were very happy. I would highly recommend taking a tour and see for yourself.

A month ago I moved my father to The Gardens of Westlake, and every day I'm amazed with how great this place is. I moved him out of another facility, where he complained constantly about the food and lack of socialization, and where I felt the care was not as good as I hoped. The Gardens is unusual because they are private apartments, instead of single rooms, and the residents are a wide variety of age and ability – residents can be independent seniors who simply want the amenities of 3 meals a day, and weekly housecleaning and laundry; or seniors who need any level of assistance. At the Gardens, we were amazed, first off, by the quality of the food. Every meal is served restaurant style in a lovely dining room. Rather than picking your meal a week ahead, you are presented with three options of entrée at every meal, with options for side dishes, soup, salad, and drinks. The food has always been hot, fresh and tasty. There is also a dessert tray with multiple options presented at both lunch and dinner. If you think I’m dwelling on this, it’s because at 88 years old, food is one of the few pleasures left, and means more to my dad than even good care! There are lots of choices of daily entertainment, including a weekly outing for a special trip to a local restaurant or special site, along with a weekly cocktail hour, and many live music events. The Gardens has two wheelchair accessible buses that are used daily, with a schedule to take residents shopping and to doctor visits, as well as on the weekly special outing. What this means is that instead of having to load my dad and his wheelchair into my van to take him to the doctor, I can simply meet him there, which has made my life easier. If you use the Garden’s internist, he is on the premises at least twice a week, and if you know nursing homes, you know this is unique. The nursing care is top notch – we are a medical family, and we’ve been very impressed with the care. In addition to staff nurses and aides, they also utilize visiting home nurses to provide all the care needed. The housekeeping is excellent; his room and his laundry has never been so clean. Every single person I run into is friendly, cheerful, and professional, and always ready to do anything needed to make things better. If you are looking for a place for an older relative (or, indeed, yourself – I’d be glad to move there!), you can’t do better than The Gardens of Westlake.

I worked for this facility for about 5 or so years and I absolutely loved everything about it. Everyone is so friendly aside from the occasional gossip or rumor floating around (on the employee perspective) but we always treated our residents as if they were our own parents. We did our best to remain calm and collected and never let ourselves get frustrated with the care we needed to provide. The Management team has done an outstanding job at providing the necessities and advice to give the best care we can offer. There's a HUGE variety of activities and trips for the residents to have some sense of freedom and fun. The food has always proven to be delicious. Over all it is an exceptional place for family, friends and residents, as well as employees to invest their time in.

My family moved our mom into The Gardens at Westlake November of 2016. The care and attention she has received by all the staff has been fantastic. She needs help getting dressed in the morning, and always has a lovely outfit complete with jewelry and accessories. She is included in activities she enjoys, but is given her privacy when she chooses to take a pass. We are especially pleased with the nursing staff with Poala taking the lead with mom. she is in tune with moms special needs and handles her with respect and dignity. The staff at the front desk, Mary Lou the go to gal, and everyone we have dealt with have been wonderful. We feel very lucky to have found such a great place for our mom to live.

My Mother has been at the Gardens for two months now. She has had to transition from living independently for ten years in sunny California, to 'weathering' the climate of Ohio, no longer driving, and living with assistance! The staff of Gardens at Westlake have been by her side through it all, and because of their compassion and guidance, she has found her independence within their walls. Having worked as an STNA for many years, I can see how happy the Residents are and how caring the staff is. I bring Jack the therapy dog here twice a month. Beth & Jason are a true pleasure to work with. They make it fun and easy. When I worked in payphones years ago I was literally in every senior facility and nursing home in Northeast ,Ohio. This is beautiful with clean and updated resident quarters. Even the food smells delicious (although I have never actually eaten there). This is one of the few I would recommend for a loved one. I would even recommend it for myself. lol

My Mother, a resident at the Gardens, wrote this: I am a recent widow. I was married to a wonderful man for 48 years. I have five interesting children, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and my dog, Chloe. When my husband passed, I was lost – but with the help of the Lord, I picked myself up and made a plan. I stumbled on the Gardens at Westlake, Senior Living. Yeah, sure, I thought to myself, “I don’t think of myself as old, much less a senior.” Well, I moved into a cute little cottage at the Gardens. I admit I was dragging my feet and not wanting to participate in much, but the staff and other residents just roped me in. Everyone is so friendly, as much as I tried, to be in my little cottage by myself, everyone kept inviting me to all kinds of activities. Finally, I just gave up and started to join in. Soon I noticed I was having fun and meeting some really great people. I have been here for about a year and a half now and I love it. It’s like being part of big family. I will always miss my husband and the 48 years, a love like that never stops. I just entered another phase of my life and I’m having a great time. But! I must admit, I am the black sheep of this huge family. As a matter of fact, I met another black sheep here; her name is Patty. We try to stay out of trouble, but it seems to follow us. Like last week, Beth said, “You can’t throw chips during Bingo.” Ugh. I eat with the same people every night and look forward to seeing them and sharing our day and sometimes gossip – you get a group of women together and you have gossip. There is so much to do here, I have to keep a calendar. We do so much together, before you know it, these people are very important to you. We are all at the same place in our lives. It’s very comforting that we can be ourselves and have fun. Well, I seem to be rambling, and it’s time to say my prayers and go to sleep. It’s been another busy day. Did anyone see my dog, Chloe? “Chloe, Chloe…it’s time for bed!!”

I have lived at the Gardens for almost a year. My apartment home is so comfy with my studio in the loft and the sun that streams through my skylights. My kitty Simba and I have been treated with kindness and understanding by the caregivers here. The decisions made by management reflect their value of the individual. They, within reason, treat each resident as a unique individual....you cannot buy this attitude. The meals are done with taste and nutrition in mind,the four courses are terrific. The giving up of housekeeping, laundry and cooking is the reward for my fifty years in healthcare. I am very happy here.

My parents moved to Gardens at Westlake 18 months ago, and are very very pleased with their apartment, and living conditions. When first moving in, my mother had been quite ill, and was well taken care of. As she healed, the demands on their assistance dwindled. They have been able to come and go as they please, have card games with their friends, happy hour, have a beautiful apartment, fed fantastic meals, and are checked on when needed. If you enter the complex, you will see very happy and involved individuals. I highly recommend the Gardens at Westlake. A great move from your home to your new home.

This review comes from a family member, enjoy! I am a friend or relative of resident: The Gardens at Westlake has been the perfect place for my parents since moving from their large colonial after 37 years. Their apartment is spacious with an upstairs loft and half bath. They have their little dog, Pru, with them, and she is very much at home there. The staff is very caring and respectful of my parents and the family. We have called about concerns many times and are always assured that issues with my parents are taken care promptly. My parents are safe, comfortable, and happy with their new home. My sisters and I toured many assisted living facilities in the area, and the Gardens' accommodations, amenities, care, safety and activities exceeded our expectations for a new home for my parents. We are always welcomed by friendly staff. It is a happy, comfortable, and loving place to live.
