The staff was amazing and incredibly caring. The care my grandmother received went above and beyond anywhere else she had been. I was hesitant when first arriving based on old stories from years past. But the reviews said the new company was turning the facility around, which is so true. They are working hard to modernized the look, and it's gorgeous where they have completed it already. In the end, I could care less what was dated etc, because the care and kindness of the staff far outweighs everything else. This is one of the first facilities that I actually felt care being prioritized over bottom line and profit. Thank you to all who are there and the dedication they give. It was a comfort in a dark time.

The Westerwood rehab center is a wonderful facility with an amazing staff! My father in law spent a few weeks there and the nursing staff were genuinely caring, patient, and attentive. I felt confident that he was in good hands while there.

Westerwood cared for my mom during her rehabilitation stay before she transitioned to hospice, and I truly cannot say enough about our experience. There is something to be said for the little things ” the smiles, the warm greetings when you walk through the door, and the way every staff member acknowledged you. Whether they were my mom’s nurse, aide, or caring for someone else’s loved one, everyone was consistently kind and welcoming. They treated my mom with dignity and compassion. Once she went on hospice, you could see the shift ” the tenderness in their eyes and the genuine desire to comfort not only her, but our entire family as we sat bedside for 12 days. A special thank you to Assistant Director of Nursing Andy for letting me do the ugly cry in his office and responding with grace and kindness in a very human, very needed moment. We are so grateful for the care, kindness, and humanity shown to us. Westerwood and their team exceeded every expectation.

Westerwood Rehab did a an excellent job taking care of my elderly family member. Top notch medical, nursing, PT, OT, activities, showering, communication with the family, coordination with the home health care agency, and discharge documents for the PCP. They even provided personalized name tags for his laundry! It’s a beautiful campus, residents look happy, and every staff person I spoke with was helpful and pleasant. Discharge paperwork for his PCP was very detailed. If I ever need a skilled nursing facility (or independent/assisted living, Westerwood is where I’m going

Westerwood as a SNF and the overall (nonprofit) organization behind it deserves the highest credit for the caring staff, clean facilities and professional services it provides. While my father ultimately succumbed to his ailments, he was in good hands for the short time he was with them. The follow-on condolence card and floral arrangement they sent just blew my family away.

My mother was here for the last 7 months of her life from Feb - Sept of 2024. She had dementia and had a rapid decline. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE was great! They were very accommodating, understanding, courteous, friendly and helpful throughout her time there. I never once felt like she wasn't getting the care she deserved and needed. She was also happy there. She raved about how nice the "restaurant" was and that the food was good. I am forever thankful for everyone there and so happy that we found Westerwood when we needed them.

Very short staffed in assisted living. I’m sure so many call lights that are turned on because someone needs help getting to the bathroom ends up being a poopie depends by the time help comes around.They take a long time to respond to call lights when residents need assistance. The nurse aides are stressed and impatient through no fault of their own. Management NEEDS to hire more help. Just one extra person on each shift would be so helpful. Please take a break from enriching yourself and help the residents and employees. They would benefit exponentially.

I can’t say enough good about Westerwood the food was amazing the staff was always close by to help keep my father be clean and comfortable and taken care of. The Capital City Hospice made sure my father was never in any pain they checked on his condition at all times. Towards the end the hospice staff made sure they were monitoring his condition 24/7 and gave him a privacy room that could hold my father’s large family that all wanted to spend the last remaining time we had with him. They even contacted the funeral home of our choice to come get my father to prepare him for his final resting place. They made a difficult time in my family’s life possible to go through.

My grandfather spent time in rehab and assisted living at Westerwood before he passed. I am so grateful to the staff & caretakers at Westerwood. Making the decision to move to assisted living is not an easy one, and the staff at Westerwood made us feel so comfortable and able to make the decision to get him the best care we could. From the dining room servers (shoutout to Mary!!!!!), to every nurse or aide who entered my grandfather's apartment, he was in the best and most caring hands. I highly recommend Westerwood for any needs your loved one may have.

Clean. Safe. Great food. So many activities, guest speakers, classes, and groups. A library. A nature preserve. The grounds are beautiful with many little gardens maintained by individual residents. A wellness center, store, salon, bank, gym. Lovely courtyard. The staff are friendly, caring, and professional. They have transportation to various stores in the area. Field trips. My mother is very happy here and has made several friends.

A group of us from my local Quaker Meeting [North Columbus Friends Meeting, Religious Society of Friends] presented a program, "Seeking Quakers," for members of the Westerwood community on 11-1-2023. Several people who live at Westerwood had visited Meeting for Worship at my local Quaker Meeting [near The Ohio State University campus] several months earlier and had wanted to learn more about Quakerism. A retired United Methodist minister who lives at Westerwood had arranged for the site [a meeting room near the chapel]; more than fifty Westerwood residents attended that program in an extremely crowded room. One of the Quakers in attendance presented a PowerPoint program on the history and the current practices of Quakerism; other Quakers who had been present spoke about their personal experiences of Quakerism. The sharing during that session had been quite rich. What is now known as "Westerwood" had previously been known as "Friendship Village Columbus." Several of my friends have lived there over the years. I visited the Westerwood chapel briefly before entering the meeting room for the "Seeking Quakers" presentation. On the wall of that chapel had been symbols of the three "Abrahamic" religions [Judaism, Christianity, and Islam] but there had been no symbols of any of the other world religions. I asked my Uber driver to drop me off near the illuminated sign near Forest Hills Blvd. so that I would be able to take a photograph of that sign before walking to the main entrance. It took me a moment to find the main entrance because all of the doors that I had initially been able to see had been locked. I eventually found the main entrance, was welcomed to Westerwood, and then was directed down several long hallways towards the location of the "Seeking Quakers" presentation.

My elderly father recently spent a week at Westerwood to rehab from a hospital stay. Was everything perfect, no. That being said, there were many more bright spots than not and overall it was a good experience. Considering how sketchy many rehab and nursing home centers can be, Westerwood was a standout. Clean rooms, spacious and well maintained. The majority of the staff were friendly, caring and skilled. We did have a couple of poor interactions, but that was rare. The social work and therapy teams were outstanding, and got him moving and feeling better almost immediately. Great communication and care on that front. The med nurses also were friendly and caring and communicated well with us on his needs. Most of the aides were great, and a couple of them were stellar providers of care and attention. I would recommend Westerwood as an option for care, with the caveat as always, that it is important for families to stay connected and pay attention.

I would like to know why my father. Charles McLean was kicked out of assisted living without written 30 days notice? The administrator of assisted living, according to my step mother Barbara McLean, stated that she was given a verbal notice, but nothing in writing. Correct me if I am wrong but 30 day written notice must be given if either parties decides to terminate the contract. Margaret (Peggy) McLean

I have found a gem of a place for my mom and dad. Everyone, especially Chris Patterson and Sallie Roman, have been fantastic to work with. Environment is bright and cheery, staff is knowledgeable and so helpful. Residents enjoy the very best of what the community here offers. So thankful.

Westerwood is fabulous, from the amenities they offer to the friendly staff and residents. The activities range from, music performances, movie night, wine and cheese Friday's and a weekly briefing with the staff to ensure the residents have a forum to be updated and ask questions. It is truly a remarkable place. They even have lectures on a variety of timely topics hosted by Otterbein University. My dad moved to Westerwood in July 2021 and as he puts it, "you could not ask for more". Thanks to the staff and the residents that welcomed him, as a child of an elderly parent, I also "could not ask for more"

Friendship Village is 40 years old and has many positive points and a few issues. In general the staff is friendly, caring, and well equipped to assist residents at all three levels (Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care). The Library, Pool Hall, Fellowship Hall, Bank, craft rooms, and outside grounds have been well taken care of. Although there are on-going projects (reroofing, parking lot resurfacing, etc.) and the staff really tries to stay on top of things, but the buildings do show their age (minor ceiling drip, carpet buckles, occasional HVAV issues). The dinning hall food and service is generally good, although turn-over seems higher here than in any other department. There is a big sense of community here, which is a big plus. On the balance, this remains one of the better retirement communities.
