Reviews First Community Village
July 2026
Our experience at FCV has been overwhelmingly positive as we transitioned our parents from independent living to full-time residents in the community. From preparing the Manor Home to be both safe and comfortable for our parents’ style and needs, to establishing support systems and helping them acclimate to the community, the FCV team has been helpful, caring, and supportive throughout the entire process.

The Roxbury at First Community Village is staffed by an outstanding, caring group of special care professionals. They KNOW and CARE for their clients. The staff works as a cohesive team in treating their clients with dignity and respect.

First Community Village is amazing. Their memory care unit (The Roxbury) is awesome. Their staffing and programs are wonderful. Their staff is so well trained. They are all friendly, talented, loving and knowledgeable. My family is so grateful for the care they gave our family member and us (as a family) and the progress he has made as a result. We also appreciate the support they gave us as the family. We highly recommend!

From the moment they set foot in First Community Village, my in-laws knew it was the right place for them. As the person who helped them manage their transition, I couldn’t agree more. The entire First Community team was exceptionally gracious and eager to help as we set about making their new apartment feel like home. Communication was outstanding. Questions were answered quickly and patiently. No request was dismissed, and even the smallest details were handled with care. That, along with the fact that the food is delicious, the grounds and buildings are stunning, and the other residents are exceptionally friendly and kind made the entire family feel as if we had made the perfect choice.

This place is awesome! Have made a ton of friends. Everyone here is so friendly! The food is amazing- haven’t had a bad meal yet. Also the campus is gorgeous with lots of trees and flowers. Wish I’d moved in 5 years earlier! Ten, even. There is so much to do from woodworking to Trivia to dance class to field trips. Best part: sitting in a comfy chair on the patio with a frosty beverage and watching someone ELSE mow.

My husband, Herb and I, are on the waiting list for an apartment in The Fairlax. We have worked with Aubrey Green. We have been so impressed with Aubrey and all of the First Community's campus. Aubrey has taken us on many tours, as family in and out of town wanted to see where we will be spending the next chapter of our lives, having lived in the same house in Arlington for over 51 years. Aubrey is knowledgeable, sincere, warm and so nice. She understands our feelings about making this move and has guided us appropriately. Thank you, Aubrey!

My parents lived at FCV for nearly 10 years. Their experience in independent living and memory care was both compassionate and professional. Thanks so much to the team who helped create a genuine community.

First Community Village is our new home. We previously lived and raised our family in the same home for 40 years and were apprehensive about moving to a new community and style of living. What we experienced was the smoothest of transitions we could imagine. After visiting other senior living facilities where friends live and experiencing the food and living conditions in those places we decided that First Community Village was the right place for us. We realize everyone seeks a place that has in mind a Goldilocks environment that is just right and that there is a no such thing as one size fits all. However, First Community Village checked all our boxes which were : -Walkable, paved trails with trees and gardens open to surrounding neighborhood -Dog friendly, big dogs as well as small -Safe even if Honey our Golden Retriever needs to go out at night. -Full service, a range of support services we might need as we age. -Intellectually stimulating. Programs and neighbors who make life stimulating and lifelong learning possible -Attractive surroundings: interesting architecture and art -Not too big (just right size, small cruise ship vs mega liner) -Welcoming to friends and family -Food choices that accommodate our palates and restrictions -And for me a full kitchen where I can continue to cook if I want to. What we experienced exceeded our expectations. A warm reception by residents and an exceptionally responsive and caring professional staff. We really love life in this place.

After visiting a half dozen other places, I knew First Community Village was/is the best place for me to spend my retirement years. Beautiful campus, paved walking paths, heated indoor pool with aquatic classes, other choices for exercise classes, transportation to grocery stores and other off-campus activities ” and medical/dental appointments, entertainers coming to campus, daily activities, lots of excellent food choices in our dining room. Your Ambassador gives you lots of information and helps you to get oriented.

Our mom spent her last few days here with the hospice team and skilled nursing staff. They were wonderful, attentive, and made everything so much easier during difficult time.

I moved to FCV in July, 2021, when the Fairfax opened. Although there are many reasons that I am glad that I found this community, I will just mention that the large amount of green space is very welcoming. Whether it is the bocce court, the putting green, the raised gardens for the residents, the walking trails with benches along the way just to sit and enjoy the view, the gazebo, the pollinator garden, or just recently added, the bird feeders, and not to forget the beautiful trees, bushes, and flowers, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

I have lived in independent living for a little over 2 years. I have been extremely satisfied with all aspects of the programs available. Quality leadership. I knew quite a few redidents when I arrived; since then I have met many more wonderful and friendly people. The food is very good and creatively prepared. I am on the Ambassador Committee; our job is to make everyone feel welcomed and their questions answered.

Fcv is a wonderful place to retire. Campus is beautiful. There are so many things to do you can do something different every day. I live in the Manor Homes. Check them out. We have yards, patios, garages, places to garden, etc. One of the special things is how close we are to Ohio State University. It offers classes for seniors at no cost . We are also close to the Griggs Dam. You can have a boat there and tons of walking. Of course the Village offers many perks. One of my favorites is the large indoor pool that opens at 6am. Come visit there is no where else like this. We visited at least 6 others before deciding.

A great place to live. Good food. Lots of activities.
April 2025
Susie and I moved into First Community Village in March of 2022 and couldn’t be more pleased with our choice. The food service has been outsourced to Morrison Living and is being professionally run with substantial regular menus that are augmented with different specials for every day of the week. There are several active special interest groups, an Ambassadors Committee to introduce new arrivals to the Village, an Art Committee and artist’s facilities. Ongoing activities include almost any card game you can imagine, regular class offerings to maintain your balance and spirit, swimming and exercise classes and well-designed exercise facilities. And all managed by affable and caring staff. There are wonderful walking trails on the Village campus and the campus itself is located in Upper Arlington with beautiful 100-year-old homes within a one-to-three-mile walking loop. Don’t miss the website or a call to the marketing staff.

We had a lovely and thorough tour of First Community Village. Everyone was extremely friendly, the grounds are walkable, relaxing and lovely, the complex is very clean and offers many amenities.
February 2025
I have three family members who love living in the Fairfax and Chelsea wings of First Community Village ” and we (their children) are thrilled for them. As the saying goes, it always seems too early until it’s too late. Our parents are happy they proactively chose to move to FCV in plenty of time to take full advantage of the vibrant social and intellectual community. As their daughter, I am grateful they did this as well. They were sick of the hassles of maintaining an independent home, even with help. It’s a relief for the entire family ” including the parents ” to know that professional help or stepped-up assistance is close at hand. The public areas of FCV feel like a very nice resort. There are multiple gyms, a theater, a pool, a salon, and a large library. The outside gardens and grounds are gorgeous for walking ” and who didn’t love the summer shuffleboard! The individual apartments are bright and sunny, with plenty of space for their furniture and art. My parent’s kitchen in the Fairfax is bigger than mine at home. During the winter, they love to read in front of the fireplace; during the summer, we love joining them on the balcony to watch the birds. A special shout-out to the maintenance staff, especially John, who approaches all calls (My tv isn’t working! Can you hang these grab bars?) with patience, humor, and speed. My dad is so relieved to no longer be the person up on the ladder changing light bulbs. Intellectually, there is always something to do at FCV: from hanging art exhibitions, working at in the gorgeous gym, passing by a puzzle table, attending lectures, watching a movie. During football season, the Ohio State games were played on a huge movie screen in one of the dining rooms, and the residents could enjoy a buffet and cheer on the Buckeyes. My mother-in-law loved doing this! Socially, community is vibrant, friendly, and interesting. FCV does a great job of welcoming newcomers and creating lots of chances to mingle. My parents love meeting up with friends in the dining rooms ” they can have a wonderful social life, without the hassle of cooking or the worries about driving to a restaurant at night or in unpredictable weather. Before moving to FCV, our parents had gotten a bit indifferent about cooking at home. They love the options for food at FCV, from the casual dine-and-dash deli, to the sit down places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is really tasty, and I happily accept all invitations to join the family for dinner. Downsides? Well, it isn’t inexpensive. And some reviews mention that there are some staffing shortages and turnover in the dining rooms, which is true. Unfortunately, I think this is probably typical for these organizations, so I don’t hold it against FCV. It sounds like they are aware of this issue and are trying their best. We are super happy with the facility, and I urge you to visit it as well.

Aubrey was amazing and was 1000% percent right! My Mom loves this facility! So glad we didn't choose anywhere else! Please if your thinking of a residence or you really need to make the change First Community is the Best Choice

I have lived here for seven years and love my spacey light filled home w gardens all around. Have made so many friends here and two long time friends move in soon. So many activities, great staff and good food! And terrific workout facility. With warm weather here now will play lots of shuffleboard and bocci ball!
April 2024
The classes, the workout facilities, the open space and walking paths, can walk indoors to everything - theater, classroom, game room, dining room, work out facilities, medical, etc. etc.
April 2024
The ease for getting from one place to another, the classes, the activities, the pool, the workout equipment, the outdoor space for walking make this an ideal place for active, independent living.

The marketing and sales at First Community Village is Awesome to work with. They answered all our questions and concerns in a timely manner and are a great asset to the Village!! Thank you!
October 2023
Sam and Chris were professional, kind and very informative. They gave me confidence that my Dad will do well here! I must add, that my dad was there for 2 weeks. The PT staff was fantastic, however the nursing staff was understaffed, inconsistent and at times negligible. There was one nurse and one aide who were great I wish I could remember their names but overall I would rate it very poor.
August 2023
This is my 4th time here from a outside agency and the rooms are nice, the food seems good but they do bare minimum here because very short staffed, the nurses are mean because there overwhelm and take it out on the patience, they don't treat these elderly folks like humans, they treat them like it's a job and that's it, they don't care if somebody in pain they will have these people wait hours until they get help and night time is even worse, i don't know if it's because a lot of the important people are not here at night but it's horrible, I wouldn't recommend this facility unless it's for very short term care, but nothing long term, honestly staying here would probably make your love one worse because the lack of attention and help they get!
August 2023
I seen 1st hand how the staff really cares about the patients, not just our family member, but other patients. That is such a huge relief!

As I was trying to score my experienc with the stars, my screen kept going in & out, but I see it gave me the 5 star rating I was trying to reach. I've never had this happen before with any rating system I have used. Over all your community is great! If I should ever need this type of care.." FCV" will be at the top of my list. Thank-you all for the wonderful work you do in keeping our loved ones & friends in a safe, & secure environment!!! Sincerely Desiree Page.

March 2023
Overall the care received was good. The food could be better and warmer. I don't recommend waking patients at 6.30am to serve cold eggs. Common sense should always prevail over getting the job done. If the patient is asleep then leave them alone. The rehabilitation center was outstanding. I recommend the facility to anyone who needs short term rehabilitation after surgery.
March 2023
The reason I’m giving it to stars is because the people who own the place can’t seem to keep good employees, any employees. They use a lot of agency help, so if you’re there for a long time, say three or four months, you don’t get the same person all the time. Now this is mostly at night, during the day in my hallway, there were some very good aids. Namely. Keisha, Debbie and maybe one other I can’t remember. Therapy is hit and miss. I’ve seen good therapists in the workout room and others that just converse among themselves while their patient is doing all the work themselves, counting the reps all by themselves. A far cry from rehab rehabilitation. unfortunately, rehab rehabilitation is only short term, less than three weeks.
February 2023
Everyone has always been very kind and helpful when I am visiting with my older friend who has been staying for several weeks for physical therapy rehab.

First Community Village has exceeded our exceptions.
November 2019
Beware when you choose this facility that the facility and the doctors that work in the facility bill separately. I was surprised when the Dr. bills started arriving that my secondary insurance (Medicare Supplement) was not a provider for the physicians group that were working & billing at the facility. When they said they accepted both my insurances, that meant the facility accepted my insurances. They never mentioned that there is a separate a physician group working within the facility. Check the physicians group on your secondary insurance because the admitting people don't mention this twist when you check in.

The staff from laundry to the physicians are impeccable. They are very positive, sweet, phenomenal, awesome and it shows that they enjoy their job. The facility is so clean it is like a 5 star hotel no kidding. Thank you all for you help and services.
