Please look at the previous reviews with high star ratings and note they are all left from when Sunrise managed this location. And Sunrise was wonderful. Bickford, which conjures many alterations to their name that are not at all flattering, is the exact opposite. They took over on May 1, 2018. My mother had been a resident for over 3 years, and despite a terrible medical condition, continued to thrive and be happy under the care of the Sunrise staff. It was one year ago today that Bickford got rid of the former Sunrise director and brought in a cretin who began his relationship with me by telling me over the phone, and in a very condescending manner, that he had no clue why my mother was still there, that they could not care for her. And so began a nerve-wracking couple of weeks in which I had to find a new safe place for my mother, who was on hospice. The day she moved, those former Sunrise staff members that hadn't been booted by Bickford actually cried as she left. In nearly 4 years, they had developed quite a loving attachment. While she moved to a place where she received excellent care, she was a stranger, and her new care givers were strangers to her. She died a month later, and I have no doubt that a broken heart contributed to this. As far as I am concerned, the uncaring and greedy owners and management of Bickford contributed to the death of my mother, and I will campaign heartily to make certain that no one I care about is ever entrusted to their lack-of-care.

I was very impressed with Bickford of Bexley, and I thought it felt like home. I loved the size and layout of the rooms, I thought it was very warm, comfortable, and great. We saw people in the dining room, playing games, listening to music, and families visiting. The staff was very outgoing, friendly, very inviting, and very nice. We saw the dining area, a room where they can go and get snacks, there’s a popcorn machine, and there was a common area where people were watching TV. We had lunch there, it was very good, they have a private dining room for families that visit them, and they can eat there if the room is available. That’s the community I would choose for my father. One thing I liked was prior to our going there, one of the owners asked a bunch of questions about my dad, and they gave him a nice portrait of the downtown area of New York and a big book of things he was interested in. They thought it would be a nice thing to put in his room.

I liked Sunrise of Bexley as an assisted living place for my brother should he need more care in the future. I was impressed with the warmth that the people there showed us. Ray, the one in charge of the place, assisted us in a very personal way and made us feel that the residents still need to keep their dignity, even though they needed assistance. The whole place was nice and clean, and the bedroom was very nice. They took me to their little ice cream shop.

The rooms at Sunrise of Bexley were bright and airy. I saw their dining room, and they do restaurant dining, but I was not able to taste the food. The people that I saw were nice and looked happy. The only thing there is that their parking lot is way too small.

I liked that Sunrise of Bexley had a lot of activities for the residents and was a well-kept, bright, and welcoming place. However, there were several levels, the hallways were narrow, and there wasn't adequate parking for the guests. The menu was good, but they were flexible if the residents didn't care for the set menu and had other options. They had an ice cream parlor and a wine evening. It was a nice place.

My mom is in Sunrise of Bexley. The staff is attentive and very good at communicating with us. The surroundings are very pleasant, and the cost is very competitive. It is a three-story building and very compact. The third floor is assigned to my mother's particular need, which is assisted living/dementia. The number of folks on that floor is small with only 15 to 18 residents. We chose the shared room because we think it will be better for her, and it is less expensive. The dining facility is fine. The food is good. The staff seems to be more than caring. There are activities available, but my mother has severe dementia and is not able to partake.

Sunrise of Bexley was very homey and had little fireplace rooms, libraries, and a lot of things. We didn't like that it was 3-stories and it was a larger facility, but other than that, it was beautiful, everybody was nice, and they had several pets walking around the place. We really liked it.

Sunrise of Bexley was like home. It was very warm. I came in contact with a gentleman that showed me around and the lady at the front door. The apartments were very quaint and clean, not very spacious, but homey. Most of them were going to a movie when I visited.

The food was good at Sunrise of Bexley. It had a very nice atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was not impressed with the all-in-one room, but I like the two-room apartments.

Sunrise of Bexley was one that we liked. The accommodations, the people, everything, we loved. The only problem that we had with it was the room accommodations: the accommodations were small, and there were no closet. They have a stand alone closet to put their things in, and my mother-in-law didn't like that at all. It was one of our top ones. They had a lot of activities within the place, and also they had a bus that would take people to wherever they wanted to go: shopping or to a movie or whatever they wanted to do. They would take them to the doctor's or whatever. We would have loved working with them. But I told them right off that if it was me, I would not want to be there because there is no room.

I liked several things about Sunrise. It was a secured facility. I just saw a couple of people working there and I thought they were okay. They gave me a tour but it was, basically, up on the dementia unit. They had the dementia people up on the third floor, which was fine, but I don't think my husband was that far gone. The rooms were rather small. They had a twin bed. However, the thing that I didn't like was that it was all white and very sterile.
