The staff have been fantastic, the facilities are excellent both in quality and cleanliness, but also in how the setup encourages community/social community and engagement. Highly recommend! I have worked in hospice care for 8 years and go in many facilities. Maplewood at Chardon is amazing! Not just because of the beautiful setting, the courtyard that is accessible to residents and the really cute front porches on all the rooms. The staff and care that is provided is second-to-none. There is always something going on to keep the residents busy and engaged. Once when I was sitting bedside with a person nearing the end of their life, employees were constantly stopping by to shower love on the person as if it were their own loved one. It was beautiful.

One of our members did a short term 3 mos Respite at Maplewood at Chardon earlier this year after a fall and hospital stay and had a pleasant experience. She was able to receive both PT and OT services in the comfort of her own apartment and enjoyed all of the social excursions and activities offered. She was able to return back to her Independent Living, but should needs arise in the future, she would absolutely come back to Maplewood.

Our dear Mom lived at Maplewood from Feb- July of 2025 when she passed . A new friend she met at Maplewood told her " it's the people who make this place." She couldn't have been more right . A difficult move was made a little easier by the friendly , positive , loving people we encountered at this facility . Our family was listened to and hugged whenever needed and especially at the end of moms life . Also she was cared for with patience , respect , kindness , smiles, positivity , gentleness , prayers , hand holding and hugs, and much love and compassion by the staff. The activities and religious services were enjoyed by our mom also . My mom has lived at Maplewood since July of 2023. She has a beautiful suite in the Tides community. It is a perfect placement for her as she has dementia but is still able to manage some of her own care. The activities for this community are not only fun, but also include scientifically-based brain games to help the aging community. There are plenty of activities to keep the residents going all day! They have a nice mix of speakers, faith-based services, musical performers, games, social hours, physical exercise and outings. "It takes a village" and every department from administration to nursing, maintenance, housekeeping, activities and of course the fantastic aides, greet you with a smile and positive energy. We are so happy we made the move to Maplewood. I am 100% confident that mom is receiving the best care.

My Mom has been at Maplewood at Chardon for 14 months now. She is in the advanced memory care neighborhood called Currents. My brothers and I are happy with the care she is receiving there. I like that the facility is NOT on a noisy road or highway, as so many others are. I like the large outdoor patio in the adjacent Vistas neighborhood where we can take Mom when we are visiting. There are a good number of nice public parks nearby where we can take Mom on outings. I like the like large common area in my Mom's Currents neighborhood, which has a high, 2-story ceiling. This is really the only facility I visited which had this available. The front-line staff, known as Resident Services Associates or RSA's provide excellent care in meeting the Activities of Daily Living or ADL's for our Mom. Maplewood has a "no agency" policy, which means all of the RSA's are Maplewood's own employees. This is a huge plus. I like the Maplewood nursing staff which is available 24/7. I like the availability of a local physician who visits the facility each week and coordinates with the nursing staff. My brothers and I are very impressed with the daily activities program for the residents which is quite strong, especially each morning and afternoon, seven days a week. Maplewood has dedicated activities staff providing a broad range of engaging activities for the residents. This includes a weekly trip to a local restaurant. There is also a nice program of regular, live music with local performers coming to Maplewood which is currently three days each week. I find all of the management and staff to be friendly, professional and engaging in providing the care that I am looking for, to maximize quality of life for my Mom.

Maplewood has been a great experience for our family. My dad had been living in another state with in-home caregiving, but he was too far from family and we wanted him to be near at least one of his daughters. The team at Maplewood met our needs perfectly, arranging for a perfect setup in a community that met his needs from the first day. He jumped right into all of the activities and quickly got into a routine. Now when we drop in to visit, we have to track him down as he is always with a group doing something fun or interesting. He was especially pleased when on the first day someone came around and showed him a menu so he could pick his entree. The staff at Maplewood is terrific too, always keeping me in the loop on eager to address any concerns or questions I have. Overall, it has been an easy transition and all of us thrilled. My sisters and I highly recommend Maplewood to any family considering a top notch assisted living community.

I’ve waited quite a while before posting this but I have reached my breaking point. Mom and dad moved to Maplewood Senior Living in September of 2015. Sadly, I lost my dad to Covid in December of 2020. When they first moved in things were good except for the fact that neither of them wanted to be there and had to adjust to their new lifestyle. Fast forward to 2024, mom has late stage dementia. She is wheelchair bound, she can’t speak and needs to be fed at every meal. It’s so hard to see her this way but I still enjoy my visits with her. For the past two years or so the food has been awful. There was one very brief period where they actually had a great chef but due to management, bad actors and politics he left. Family caregivers have continued to complain about the food and nothing is ever done. Day old fruit, overcooked frozen vegetables, awful looking proteins are the norm. What’s worse is they douse everything in sauces to try to disguise the fact that the food is gross. Every day I take a picture of her lunch. I’ve added several photos of some of the worst. Today pushed me over the edge. I hadn’t visited in two days due to my work schedule. For the second Sunday in a row I arrived to find mom’s stomach incredibly bloated to a point that it looked like a pregnant belly. I called the head of the memory care unit over to address the situation. She informed me that mom hadn’t had a #2 in 4 days! How does this go unnoticed. We had the same issue last week so you would think that someone would be on top of the situation. Nope, the only reason someone noticed today is because I pointed it out. In addition, the head of the memory unit got sassy with me when I persisted on asking how this happened. (Back story, she was the nurse on duty because of someone calling off so perhaps she wasn’t used to working hard) I’m stuck on what I should do. I am worried that moving her would not be good for her health. The cost to be here is exorbitant and each year they send a letter with a sob story about raising the monthly rate. Follow up. It’s now day five and no bowel movement. They only noticed because I asked about it. At this point everyone here is too blame. Management doesn’t care!

There were many things I liked about Maplewood at Chardon when I visited. First, to be clear, this is Maplewood, not Mapleview (which I was not a fan of). Maplewood was spotless, and the food smelled amazing. The staff at the front desk were very welcoming. I liked the safety aspect of having to check in at the front desk, even for the independent living apartments. The apartments themselves all opened into the interior of the building and had front porches which are individually decorated. It was nice to see the residents' personalities as I walked by. The apartments are spacious and the layout of the building was easy to navigate. I like how Maplewood is there for all stages of elder care from Independent Living, to Assisted Living, to Memory Care, with the apartments in each division having the same layout for the comfort of the residents. Mr. Iorio gave me a tour and showed me the extensive activities list and other resources available to families. He answered all questions, and found the answers for questions that I had as well. I would definitely recommend a tour if you are looking for a residence for a family member.

My mom moved in just before Christmas and was not sure what to expect. If she didn't like it she thought she could always move back home. After 9 months and fully embracing it she decided to make it her permanent home. She is a very social person and loves being around people. The staff has been so wonderful, kind, and loving to her and she absolutely adores them. Having gift shop, the chapel to celebrate mass every Tuesday afternoon and a salon in house to get her hair done without ever leaving is such blessing. Mom was going down hill fast after my dad passed a couple of years ago and Maplewood has been so good for. She loves being able to walk in a controlled environment and the courtyard to enjoy the sunny days. Michelle is always ready to greet you with a smile at the door (and a wise crack to get you laughing). Dimitra the social activities director is SO nice and works so hard to all the residents engaged from knitting clubs to happy hours to bible studies, bingo, and arranging for live entertainment to come in. She has enjoyed the weekly Wednesday nights dining on the town with other residents. Allison who is part of the cleaning staff along with the other staff members even went to visit my mom more than once on their own time when she had to be in a rehab for an extended period - WOW! All the aides are always so happy to see her and giving her hugs. We feel so blessed to have Maplewood and the staff in our community and to have mom in such a great facility. Thank you for always looking out for her and making this time of her life filled with sunshine and smiles!

Maplewood at Chardon has been wonderful for my 98-year-old mother! Last year the burdens of living in her own home became too much for her, but she was very hesitant to give up her home of forty years. Maplewood did everything it could to welcome her to a new home, where she could live her way, but get assistance when needed. The staff is extremely friendly and caring, and they try to accommodate her preferences whenever they can. As a result of the new, comfortable living situation, my mom's outlook on life has blossomed and she seems more energetic. Maplewood is also very good to its extended "family" - the families of the residents. They communicate frequently about events at the residence and specifics about my Mom's health and well-being. There seems to be a very low turnover rate of staff, which is another plus. Very highly recommended!

Maplewood at Chardon was one of the best decisions I ever made. My mother wanted to leave a skilled nursing facility she did not like as she was recovering from an ankle injury after a fall. I looked at about 9 or 10 places before I came to Maplewood at Chardon. The woman who greeted me took a lot of time to explain everything to me and show me around. The Levels of Care looked to be exactly what I was looking for to cater to my mom's condition. The facility was always clean, the nurses and STNAs, the administrators, maintenance staff, kitchen and everyone was wonderful and kind. They were very good about shuttling my mother to her appointments. She was at Maplewood at Chardon for about 9-1/2 months before she passed away from her worsening health condition. The whole staff was wonderful to the end and I would recommend them and Maplewood at Chardon to anyone looking for a quality assisted living facility.

The staff is friendly and very helpful from the front desk, the van driver to the caregivers and assistants. We were very happy with the care and the kindness presented to my mother. My Mother has been a resident at Maplewood since February, 2014. We LOVE it. She has significant memory loss, but this doesn't stop the staff - all of the staff, including food servers and housekeepers - from regarding my mother (and all residents) as whole individuals, worthy of caring and respect. From time to time, if I have had an issue, I bring it up with management and we discuss it openly. No passive-aggressive games, as is often experienced in care-giving environments. I give Maplewood my highest recommendation.
