My mother was a resident at The Artis of Somers for about a year and a half. We had such a wonderful experience with your facility on every level from her intake to her passing. The staff there are beyond caring and respectful of the residents. They are truly amazing people. From the Director, to the Wellness Director and Nursing staff, the visiting Physician, the Activities Director, and all the staff that provide the day to day care - each person was truly kind and went out of their way to treat our mom with dignity and respect. Caretakers would frequently dress her in nice clothes and do her hair with care. When visiting I would often be stopped by the staff and told stories or kind words about my mom - clearly showing that they care and know her. After she passed, one of the staff helped us to pack her room and told stories to us and was so kind he commented about how he would miss her and it was very touching. Placing my mom in The Artis was a blessing for all of us. It took the burden and fear for my mothers safety off of my family's shoulders and my mother truly flourished while there. She was the happiest she has been in years. Although she could not articulate her comfort, it was readily apparent by her demeanor that she felt safe, cared for and loved every day. The staff at the facility truly made her final years happy and dignified. I only wish every person had the luxury of experiencing such a safe and caring place for their final years.

My father has moved in a week ago and the location is gorgeous. The food speaks for itself my father was not eating properly for such a very long time and now he sits down and eats the whole meal with friends that he met. He has only been there a week, but every staff member greets him with his name and is always cheerful and engaging. I feel like he is safe and well taken care of. The afternoon aide, Sharon is sweet, always engaging and Extremely safety minded. This is the first week in two years that I leave my father and feel like he will be just fine. Taking care of a person with dementia is a job that one person really cannot do. Giving up control is hard but once it is done, It is truly a relief. Thank you Artis

Dear Team Artis, I would also like to give a special shout-out to Jenn, Director of Life Enrichment. She works tirelessly to bring a variety of stimulating activities to the residents each day. Residents can easily be engaged, if they want to, from morning through early evening, seven days a week. She and her staff make sure to get them to -arrive in the Community Room on time and return them to their neighborhoods afterwards, with the help of some very special Care Partners too. Live music has jogged the memories and had put a smile on many residents’ faces. They have also been known to get up, sing along, and dance too! It’s so heartwarming to see my mom, Marysia and her neighbors this way! Dear Team Artis, I would love to recognize LPN, Lauren Walsh. Her love and dedication to her work is very apparent every day at the Artis. She takes a special interest in my 101 plus 9 month old mom (today!) and all residents on an individual basis to safeguard their comfort and safety She respects and is well respected by the Artis Leadership staff, other medical staff and care partners. Cheers and love to Lauren for being a true asset to the Artis Senior Living community!

I would like to pay Tribute to Lauren W. RN, who has gone above and beyond for caring for a Family Member at Artis/Somers. Shortly before Christmas , I notices a few Medical Issues with my family Member, and alerted Lauren. Lauren became very concerned, and visited my Family Member several times over the next several weeks. What makes Lauren truly amazing, she kept in close telephone contact with me, as well as calling me as she met with the Artis/Somers in-house Medical Doctor. I would Like to Thank Lauren for all she has done for my family Member, as well as Congratulate Artis/Somers for providing such a Wonderful Staff Member.

When Artis was recommended, I could not believe how wonderful a facility it is to support my elderly mother. We raced against time to transfer Mom to a supportive environment, and the staff at Artis was beyond accommodating and guided us through every step of the process. Months later, I cannot say enough about their neighborhoods, activities, care team members, and staff. Thank you! You have given our family peace of mind, knowing Mom is safe and engaged in activities. The rooms are comfortable, and the dining areas feel like home. I love the lounge facilities and the community room where residents play games, do puzzles, or visit with therapy dogs, among other events. The ongoing communication is amazing. My sister has early onset Alzheimer’s disease. The challenges this presents are enormous and I was overwhelmed with her rapidly advancing symptoms. She needed support in every facet of her daily living and I needed support from an assisted living facility that understands dementia. Artis Senior Living of Somers delivered both. Artis is a place where my sister lives comfortably and supported in every way. The dedication of the entire staff to the residents is remarkable. Each person is cared for with respect and an understanding that they are unique, with different personalities and needs. Those needs are met by developing relationships with each resident. The kindness they employ in their work day is ever present. Artis has an inclusive environment and values the family as much as the resident. The lines of communication here are always open and flowing. My sister is safe, cared for and every day I feel calm and confident that she is living the best life she can. I cannot recommend Artis of Somers highly enough!

I love the neighborhoods , the outdoor walking path and the shadow boxes at the residents doors with their familiar pictures. After the decision was made that my mom needed more care than what I could give her, the search began for a new home where she could thrive, be happy and well cared for. Artis Senior Living of Somers is a very special place. From the minute you walk in the front door there is a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The individual neighborhoods are charming and small enough that each of the care team members really know the residents that they take care of. The management, nurses and director are readily available to answer any questions or concerns that I may have. Most importantly, my mom who was not happy going into an assisted living facility has acclimated beautifully. My father moved into Artis a few months ago and I can’t speak highly enough of them. At Artis they only work with folk who have memory issues. Due to this the resident’s needs and interests are catered to and it is reflected in programming and other subtle ways. The building is setup with several neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedrooms. In the center of the building, connecting the neighborhoods, are common areas that are used for activities, events, etc. Residents are encouraged to be where is most comfortable: spending time in their living room, going to an activity, visiting other neighborhoods, and when the weather is good being outside. When my dad moved in there was careful thought about not just his medical needs but also his social needs in terms of which neighborhood he would most click with, where his apartment would be, and even in encouraging him to sit with specific other residents staff think that he would click with. He has adjusted well to his new home and he has told me on numerous occasions that everyone here is very nice. When I visit or call I have never had a bad experience and my dad seems like his needs are well taken care of, staff seem to genuinely enjoy his company as he does with them, and they communicate any needs to me in a professional and timely manner. Since moving in to Artis he has begun hosting weekly bingo, has attended several parties, watched the solar eclipse, and gone on trips in the community. Artis puts a lot of thought into the residents’ experiences and quality of life. The activities range from music, games, physical activities, art, learning, trips in the community, etc. There are usually 7 activities per day to choose from. I like that he has a large range of activities to choose from and staff seek resident input on programming activities, menu choices, volunteerism, etc. Artis offers an enhanced license which allows greater options in terms of dietary needs and transferring residents with mobility issues. Due to my dad’s dietary needs he had to move from his previous memory care residence. Artis is able to meet his dietary needs and his food looks as attractive as the food provided to residents who do not have dietary needs. It is a huge relief that it is unlikely that he will need to move anytime in the near future. His previous residence was a mixed population building and the folk in memory care were often treated as an afterthought with minimal programming and often sat in chairs in front of the TV for most of the day. This is not what residents experience at Artis. My dad seems happier, more engaged, challenged intellectually, and overall is doing well at Artis.

Lori Gest who always goes out of her way to help the residents any way she can and does it with a big smile always! Jenn and Brian are two of the most kindest amazing individuals I’ve met and can’t thank them enough for all they do to keep mom and the residents involved and busy with activities. The front staff ladies which include Melissa too are always so friendly and helpful as well! I have observed the staff quite frequently while visiting including housekeeping and dietary who are always willing to pitch in and help the residents and know them by their first name giving them extra personal attention . Staffing artis with caring compassionate people makes my mom feel safe. I will always be grateful to each of them and hope they never get tired of caring for others because each of you truly do make a difference in their lives. Myself and our family are so thankful and hope each of you are blessed with a happy life because you have touched so many lives along the way. The moment we walked into Artis of Somers wseveral other facilities knew this was the right place for my mother- in law .we love that mother in law has her own private room and bathroom. staff is incredible and always there to help and assist without making the residents feel like they lost their independence. When we realized that my dad could no longer live alone, even with all of our efforts to keep him home, we started researching options in senior living and looking for the type of care which would be the best fit for his needs at this time. Artis of Somers was one of our first visits. My husband and I were very impressed but we did our due diligence to make sure we were making the right decision. My dad has been at Artis for over a month now and I must say Artis of Somers has met or exceeded our expectations. The facility itself is bright, thoughtfully decorated and welcoming. From the very comprehensive questionnaire to the attention to his cognitive care, the staff has truly made us comfortable that he is in the best of hands. Throughout his transition he has been treated with kindness, respect and patience as he has settled in. Every visit my dad will tell me the staff could not be niceror more helpful. It has made such a difference for me and my family knowing my dad is safe and very well cared for thanks to this community and their wonderful staff.

It has been a rough road taking care of my mother. My family and I were so torn about how to best care for her and we were all exhausted. It was a tough decision to move mom into memory care. Once we learned about Artis Senior Living of Somers and talked with the staff, our fears and concerns were eased, but still, what would it be like for mom once she was there? We are delighted to say it has been a great move for mom. She is treated with such respect and care that she adjusted extremely well to her new environment. The staff at Artis go out of their way to make sure each resident is offered activities that they are interested in, and they are extremely responsive to any questions or concerns from the family. Mom can't say enough nice things about the food, the people, her room and the community spaces. This is coming from someone who was extremely resistant to moving in. In summary, I highly recommend Artis Senior Living of Somers very much and the only thing, in retrospect, that I would change is that we didn't move mom in sooner!

My mom was one of the first residents in this new facility and has now been there for about 5 weeks. We have been very pleased with every aspect of the transition. The staff competently and efficiently processed all the paperwork and intake documents. I was impressed with the depth of questioning about my mom's history and needs, both physical and emotional. The attention to her cognitive and health needs has been remarkable. Most importantly, they have gotten to know and appreciate my mom as an individual, and have been fostering her gifts and talents and encouraging her to share them. She is shown respect and offered a wide range of activities that have been great for her- she is more engaged with others than she has been in years.
