My father has dementia, and finding a community that could care for him with the patience, skill, and warmth he deserves felt overwhelming, until we found Champlain Valley Senior Community. From day one, the difference has been remarkable. The case workers here are truly exceptional. They've taken the time to understand my father as an individual, not just as a resident with a diagnosis, and they communicate with our family openly and compassionately every step of the way. Their expertise in memory care has given us so much peace of mind. What really stands out is that every staff member, not just the caregivers assigned to him, knows my father by name, greets him warmly, and treats him with genuine dignity and respect. That level of personal attention is rare, and it's made all the difference for someone navigating the confusion that comes with dementia. One small thing that means a lot to our family: my father absolutely loves the ice cream parlor on site. It's become one of his favorite parts of the day, and seeing him enjoy something so simple and joyful, even amid the challenges of his disease, has been such a gift for us to witness. The facility itself is always clean, well-maintained, and welcoming, which matters so much for both residents and the family members who visit. I am thankful for Champlain Valley Senior Community; they have been truly kind and friendly towards my mother and most welcoming. Anytime I visit they have been very accommodating to the needs of myself and my family who visit on a regular basis. Since my mother has moved to this senior living facility, she has taken part in activities that she has not been so inclined to do over the last three years. Our aunt has lived at CVSC for almost 3 years. Now in her 90s and with dementia, we feel confident that she is getting the care and attention she needs, even though we live far away. We have visited her there many times and have shared several tasty meals with her in the lovely cafeteria. Before her dementia worsened, she thoroughly enjoyed attending the frequent musical performances and participating in the many activities they provide to residents, especially bingo and putt-putt golf. The staff keeps us informed of her condition and are always happy to answer any questions.

My mom lived at CVSC in Willsboro for 3 years in Memory Care, and I have to say, the staff were excellent! The food looked pretty good, and in Willsboro, it's an interesting building--the old high school. There were great activities both in Memory Care and out and about. My mom didn't always participate, but they looked like they were having lots of fun. My favorite part was the way that staff interacted and built relationships with residents. It felt like a real home! And I knew that my mom was with the best people to look out for her, they knew her so well.

It has been a perfect fit for my husband who has Parkinson’s. The staff is very caring and fulfill his individual, unique needs. It is a beautiful setting by the river which connects residents with nature and natural beauty. The facility provides freedom and independence while providing daily needs and safety. My sister was at CVSC for several months and we found the care, communication and concern for her well-being to be excellent and most comforting. The staff is amazing and responsive, especially her case manager, and the application process was simple and direct. We moved my sister back to VT for expediency but look back fondly at the time she spent at CVSC. Highly recommend this home for your loved one. It's clean, spacious, on a beautiful site, has plenty of enriching activities and even a sweet ice cream parlor. Don't hesitate to inquire into CVSC if needs be

I can't say enough about this place and the people who work there. The case worker Jennifer M makes sure that if there is anything we need to know she tells us. She is always accessible to all of us. Jennifer M has ways to track things so if we have any issues or questions she is on it! The person I visit loves the place and is so involved with all the activities and people who live there. Everything is taken care of for her from food (3 great meals a day) to wash and cleaning. I can't thank Jennifer M enough and all the others who help her out taking care of her. What a great experience I had. I needed help (last minute) to get my Mom into assisted living and called Champlain Valley Senior Community. Eli from the office called me right back and I explained what I needed and asked for help. He was right on it and got back to me within a couple of hours and had a room for my Mom within 2 days. I was not sure what I was going to need and he told me not to worry that someone would call me to let me know and go over everything. I got a call from Jen MacDougal who told me she would walk me through the process and she sure did! We met with her the next day and went over everything. She clearly let us know what we should expect from showing us the room, the building and most important all the people who were working. She made it clear to ask ANY questions we had and she answered all of them. She is so professional and down to earth. I also got to meet Alyssa Frazier who works with Jen and make great team mates. They helped us with all our requests. We meet with Jen for several hours including going over all the medicine, Moms doctors and all her appointments. They do EVERYTHING so you do NOTHING but take care of your loved one. I don’t know how to thank them enough. When they say that it starts from the top of the organization and works down, they are 100% right. The staff there is nothing short of AWESOME! Now that Mom has been there for a while, we still feel the same way and just LOVE the place. They have so many activities going on and make sure they offer things were everyone can be included. If you are thinking about having a loved one needing a place to stay don’t think again, sign them up and know you are doing the right thing and you do not need to worry about a thing. Working with Jen, her communication is perfect and always get right back to you. I can’t thank them enough!

My grandfather moved into CVSC 9 months ago and I am so grateful to everyone there. He is much more active than when living alone and happily starts the day with an exercise class and enjoys things like flower arranging. The weight off my mind is also huge knowing he has professionals helping him with his meds and his care coordinator Jen arranges any appointment we request along with transportation so he and I no longer struggle trying to keep track of those. Ann and Tammy at the front desk always make me feel like part of the crew, and the staff was able to handle a higher level of care (he needs help with his catheter) than other facilities. We are happy to be part of the CVSC family and feel it is an excellent fit for us.

Our mother -- a 93-year-old with a stubborn streak -- moved into CVSC about two months ago. While the transition from her ancestral home to CVSC has not been easy, the professional and caring staff have gone above and beyond to make it as smooth as possible for her. To have this remarkable place right here in Essex County is nothing short of miraculous. Two months in, we do see that she is settling into a routine. She is increasingly engaged -- in a positive way --with the staff and other residents. Above all, the apprehension and fear of living alone that she experienced before moving to CVSC have vanished. That's huge. There is a powerful "process culture" underlying the warmth and humanity of the people who work at CVSC, and that is very comforting for us.

There is good communication between staff and families. There are always staff available when I go visit. Champlain Valley Senior Community has been quite a good fit for my mom! The rooms are warm and airy, the staff so very friendly and helpful, and she loves her meals there! They have allowed her to have her cat with her, who is her very best friend at this stage of life, and a big reason why we chose this place! She's even started to get involved with the activities and entertainment offered, like Irish dancing by children. They took good care of the residents during the pandemic, too - a very vital factor.

My Mother has been a resident of CVSC for the past year. She started as a resident in the assisted living wing and ultimately transitioned to the memory care floor a few months later. The staff at CVSC has made this an amazing experience for both my mother and I. They are professional, caring, kind and always demonstrate an uplifting attitude and spirit. My brothers and I are beyond grateful for finding such a wonderful facility. Moving my mother out of her home was so very difficult, for all the obvious reasons, but CVSC calmed any worries or doubts I had. Their communication is excellent, they are always well staffed and the facility is neat, orderly, and clean. As well, they are consistently available when I have questions and/or feedback for them. I highly recommend CVSC for those in search of a residence for their loved ones who now need more support and care than can be provided in their current home.

My parents and in-laws were residents of CVSC over a period of 6 years. Our family chose CVSC as we felt we could trust the facility to provide our parents a safe, healthy, professional, and stimulating environment- and provide us a sense of relief that their changing needs would be met. Having the availability of the Memory Care Unit was a bonus as that day did eventually come. Making that transition from AL was less stressful under these familiar surroundings. Staff were skilled, friendly, genuinely caring, had a great sense of humor and oh so much patience! Case management was kind and approachable- listening to concerns and finding solutions. Meds were distributed in a timely fashion and I was contacted if something was needed. The Recreation Director provided activities that were creative and fun, and worked hard to interest our parents. I enjoyed the delicious holiday buffet dinners and camaraderie pre-pandemic and hope they can return. We were fortunate to have and are grateful for the care CVSC afforded our parents.

My parents, John and Shirley transitioned into CVSC from their home of over 55 years in Jan. 2018. From the start, the staff was welcoming and caring. It did take some time for them to get used to new surroundings. Mom wanted to do the laundry and prepare the meals! It wasn't long before they were participating in group scenic rides along Lake Champlain, and other activities available to them. The dining room and ice cream parlor are two area's of socialization. Safety and security are big pluses at CVSC. Staff are available 7/24 to assist residents. Mom continues to enjoy living at CVSC. She enjoys the indoor activities in the winter and sitting out front in the summer visiting and watching the river and it's wildlife.

My family moved our mom to CVSC in mid-2019. We chose CVSC for the option of enhanced assisted living. My initial impression was good”an attractive and clean facility with a friendly staff. We especially liked the access to the gazebo across the street overlooking the river. The dining room is bright and often is decorated with fresh flowers. Over the past 2+ years, we have become acquainted with the staff and I have found communication to be easy. They work hard to provide good care and any problems have been quickly resolved. My mom has often said: They are kind to me here. The isolation caused by the pandemic has been difficult--both for my mom and for my sisters and me. About a year ago, Hilary (the activities director) suggested that we set up routine zoom calls. So twice a week we have a family chat. These visits are really helpful for all of us and sometimes as we are saying goodbye, my mom makes me smile as she says Thanks for coming. We are fortunate to have found CVSC

Eli and Emily have a 5 star facility. I searched from Albany to Canada and I never felt it was the right fit. When I visited Champlain Valley Senior Community, I knew it was perfect for my mom. The staff is wonderful, kind and patient. The adjustment for my mother has been terrific mostly in part to the expertise of the staff. My mother has a lovely apartment, and has gained 17 pounds in less than 2 month with the fabulous meals served. My mother was extremely resistant to making a change and she just told me there is nothing she could possibly want that she cannot get at Champlain Valley Senior Community. If you want to have no worries and your elderly loved ones to thrive, feel confident with this choice. Thank you Eli and Emily.
