I've met a lot of people over the years, and every once in a while you come across someone who genuinely loves what they do. Luz Pacheco is one of those rare people. From the moment we met, Luz made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel comfortable and reassuring. She welcomed me with genuine warmth, patiently answered every question, and never made me feel rushed. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly and made sure I understood every step. What impressed me most was watching her interact with the residents. Her kindness wasn't something she turned on for a tour—it was simply who she is. She treated everyone with dignity, patience, compassion, and genuine respect. Those qualities can't be taught; they come from the heart. Luz is the kind of employee every organization hopes to have. She combines professionalism, knowledge, and compassion in a way that immediately puts people at ease. Long after I'll forget the details of the tour, I'll remember how she made me feel: welcomed, respected, and confident that I was in the hands of someone who truly cares. If Luz's supervisors read this, I hope they know what an exceptional representative they have. I took care of my parents from 2024 , lost my mom and still had my Dad. I found out I was sick and couldn’t continue to care for my Dad. My Journey was not easy I tried a couple of nursing homes. I was told I needed to take him to emergency and say I couldn’t care for him anymore. I was upset, I didn’t want to leave my Dad like if he was an animal, I felt that the system has failed the elderly in need. I didn’t know what to do, I felt so overwhelmed. I cried my eyes out asking God to please help me find a place for my Dad. I’m a Christian and have alot of faith. The next day , Staten Island’s was on my thoughts. I Google nursing homes in Staten Island. The first one that showed up was The veranda Assisted Living. I call and on the same day they made an appointment for a tour. I went , liked the place and every one was very friendly, professional and on top of everything .I was happy to find out that my Dad was accepted. I have to say that all the staff members are amazing , caring and on point . The Director Tamara Brade from the 6 floor has been sending me pictures of my Dad and the group going to the park and going for walks , also celebrating a Birthday with the group . Wow I was convinced, that God guided me to the right place for my Dad . I truly recommend Veranda in a heart beat. If you have a love one that you can’t care for, this is the place . Please don’t hesitate to call, you won’t regret it.

My aunt has been at the memory care at The Veranda for the past month. Words could not describe how incredibly thankful I am to the entire staff and in particular with Tamara. My aunt worked so incredibly hard her entire life. When she was diagnosed with dementia our family was crushed. When looking for a facility for my aunt we wanted one that would provide her with the most dignified care and living situation possible. I spent dozens of hours/days looking through the extensive list of facilities provided by her social worker. After a tour my sister and I agreed to move forward with The Veranda. We were so worried for our aunt, but that worry quickly turned into joy and gratefulness. We were reassured verbally but also with pictures and videos of our aunt. We see her smiling, laughing, interacting with other residents. My aunt even went on her first trip today and we were able to experience that with her via photos and videos! My sister and I have been able to visit her. She went out for dinner with my sister and my aunt asked her if she would go back to her “house” with her. In this short time The Veranda had become her home and we are so thankful. It’s never easy to make a decision like this for a family member. But I could not be happier with our choice. Tamara is so responsive and has promptly addressed any questions we have. I recommend the memory care at the veranda fully and without reservation.

From the very first day we brought my mom to this assisted living facility, I was overwhelmed and I couldn’t stop crying, and I’ll never forget how Tamara gently comforted me and said, “They are like toddlers; she will be just fine.” As time went by, we saw exactly what she meant, and she was right. The memory care team has exceeded every expectation we had. They consistently keep us connected by sending pictures and FaceTiming us, which brings so much comfort and reassurance. Whenever we take my mom out for a few hours, she enjoys it, but what truly says everything is that she always asks to go back. She genuinely loves being there, which gives our family so much peace of mind. The entire team is incredibly caring, compassionate, and attentive. It honestly brings tears to my eyes to see how much love they show the residents every single day. All of the aides are exceptional, but I want to give a special shoutout to Nilanthi Arachchilage. She has a very special bond with my mom, and it means the world to us. Tamara’s leadership is truly remarkable. She manages everything seamlessly and is always available, which speaks volumes about her dedication. I also want to thank Luz from the admissions team for making the transition so smooth and stress-free, and Eris Milliner at the front desk, who greets everyone warmly and seems to know every resident by name. While there was a minor incident with a front desk employee, it was addressed with management. I don’t want that to take away from this review, because the true credit belongs to the incredible memory care team We are beyond grateful to have found such a loving and supportive community for my mom.

Thank Goodness for The Veranda Assisted Living My aunt has Alzheimer’s and dementia, and she was previously living in her own apartment. She has always been a fabulous diva, and even with her mental illness, she is still very aware of her living conditions and loves looking beautiful, as always. With so many changes happening to protections and security for patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s, finding a safe and secure place became even more urgent for our family. The Veranda Assisted Living was truly a place sent from heaven. My family and I were searching for a facility that could be as fabulous as my aunt — somewhere she would feel comfortable, like a community, not just a senior home. My sister, who is a doctor, found The Veranda Assisted Living for us, and the process was incredibly smooth thanks to Luz, the case manager, and Tamara, who helped make everything happen quickly and seamlessly. We had never placed a family member in a facility before, so this was completely new and emotional for us. Luz was with us every step of the way, guiding and reassuring us throughout the entire process. The facility is clean, beautiful, and secure. Residents who wander can only leave with family or friends, which gave us so much peace of mind and made it easy for us to say yes to The Veranda. We also love that we can visit 24 hours a day and still spend holidays and birthdays together as a family. What truly stands out is the staff. They contact me regularly to keep me updated on how my aunt is doing, which gives us so much comfort. They organize trips for the residents with family permission, and they offer wonderful services like hair and nail care — which is perfect for my aunt’s fabulous diva personality. They also provide activities that keep the residents engaged and stimulated, helping maintain their interests and quality of life. Our priority was finding a place that was safe, loving, clean, and secure — but also somewhere we could decorate and truly make her space her own in her fabulous diva style. The Veranda feels like a five-star hotel, and it was the perfect choice for her. Thank you to The Veranda Assisted Living staff and community for not only providing my aunt with a beautiful place to live, but for giving our family peace. We transferred my mother to Veranda memory care after a horrific experience at her former assisted living facility memory care, Waterford by the Bay in Brooklyn. While at Veranda she has put on some weight after losing about 80 lbs. The former director at Veranda, Laura West, was compassionate, extremely knowledgeable, and easy to reach. She and Luz, from marketing, did an outstanding job transitioning my mom. My mother is happy and well adjusted. When we visit she is alert and chatty. There are many activities for the residents, which my mom participates in. She is very much improved since moving to Veranda. The front desk staff is very pleasant as is the staff on the memory care floor. The entire staff is very professional. The memory care floor is beautiful and very clean. The rest of the facility is undergoing an update. The lobby area is very nice. Plenty of parking in the parking.lot. My family is indebted to Laura for her kindness and for her going above and beyond to make us feel that my mom is safe. We wish her well and look forward to having a great relationship with the new director.

Place is awful. Several residential floors have various degrees of mentally challenged individuals, alcoholics and drug users (with a very recent overdose death). Elevators that breakdown frequently. Several floors are old and rooms are dated with disgusting bathrooms (lower floors). It hurts me to have someone in my family living there. Do your homework, visit and see for yourself. It is not a well managed place. They need to do better. Some of the 5 star reviews are from actual employees of this place. Seriously! And, from some of the other ficticous names you see, many of these reviews are fake. Do better Veranda! For anyone working there, would you want your family member to live there? Wish the person I dealt with was honest about this place. Very disappointing experience all around.

About a month ago, I placed my 87 year old dad in The Veranda's Memory Care unit. Navaah is truly an amazing, caring and dedicated individual who worked with me every step of the way in placing my dad from a rehabiliation place to this wonderful facility. The 7th floor Memory Care unit is newly renovated and I am extremely pleased with the cleanliness of the floor, the attentive staff (especially Diane, Elliot and Jennifer) and Ms. Laura, the director, who knows all the residents of the floor. Each time I leave my dad, I feel assured that he is in good hands.

I could not be more pleased with The Veranda! Starting from our first interaction with Tamara, it has been wonderful. The transition to assisted living or memory care can be emotionally exhausting for everyone, especially our loved one’s going to live there. I honestly don’t know where to start so I’ll start in the beginning. My mom is 85 years old and about a year and a half ago started to show different types of memory loss and other issues. After going to a neurologist, it was confirmed that my mother had dementia. I was completely confused as to what to do because my mother was living at home by herself, we were able to get her an aid for six hours a day, which was nearly not enough. As the disease progressed, it came to the point where she would like to go out at night for a walk by herself and it became too dangerous. After shopping around looking for different assisted living places, we have gone to many in Brooklyn, New York and a few in Staten Island, New York I was not impressed with any of them as soon as I walked into a few of them the residents were all saying don’t come here don’t come here. When I called the veranda assisted living on Staten Island I was transferred to a young lady named Tamara Brade. Let me just say that she went above and beyond what anybody could’ve even imagined to help me in the situation that I was to be able to get my mother in there quickly. Always available by phone. Had it not been for Tamara‘s help and knowledge and and just genuine care I never would’ve been able to get through what I did with my mom. She made it so easy. Everything she said was exactly as she said was gonna be my mom is now in the memory care unit, which is on the seventh floor. The entire memory care unit is brand new and looks like a five star hotel. my mom has been there now for a while loves the people there as for the employees they’re all top-notch staff. Everybody just goes above and beyond. Everybody is always smiling and never see a negative face from anyone there. Ask for the coordinator of the memory care unit. Her name is Laura West. I get daily reviews daily videos FaceTime text messages from her all day telling me how all my mother is doing everything. My mother is doing any issue. I have that I ask her gets addressed immediately. As far as personality there are very few people that I know that have that type of amazing personality as this Tamara for that matter as well, I don’t think they seem to hire anybody unless they have an amazing personality there. Laura has gone above and beyond to help my mother with everything she’s made it so easy and so smooth for my mother to be able to live and be happy. The rooms are beautiful. The dining room is beautiful. The decor is first class. The employees in the memory care unit every single one of them is just Superb. If anyone is in need of taking their loved one to a place where they’re going to feel secure and you should look into the veranda assisted living speak to Tamara speak to Laura. You’re gonna fall in love with them just like I did. Ask for me since my mom has been in there. I have calmed down. I was a nervous wreck for the longest time always worried about whether she was gonna go out for a walk and get hurt or get lost. Now I can rest easy sleep easy I gotta visit my mother three times a week. They never tell me all you have to leave or you can’t come at this time or you can’t come at that time. The door is always open for you to come and visit and the staff will go above and beyond to help you with any needs that you have. My mom‘s name is Hannah and she is in room 70 one which is on the seventh floor a note to Tamara and Laura I love you guys. Thank you so much for everything you have done for my family.!

It deserves no stars. First they lied to me about my powerchair said it was ok to have during the video chat, then I get there and I'm told it can't come into the facility and so my brand new powerchair is put outside the building! This was Monday my first day. Next week Monday I woke up in an ambulance on the way to the hospital after lying in my bed for four days sick and vomiting, no one answered the emergency bell or came to check on me as to why I wasn't coming to meals! They lied to get me there and did nothing to help me. I wouldn't send anyone there, they are not safe for anyone.

Not only was Tamara easy to get in touch with, she even kept in touch with me after my father was admitted into the facility. Tamara is one of the sweetest and deserves recognition for her hard work. She has kept myself and my family at ease! Thank you Tamara and thank you Veranda for being so welcoming to my father.

WOW! PEEPS ARE TALKING ABOUT A PSYCHIATRIC WORKER THAT THREATENED A RESIDENT OVER ANOTHER RESIDENT. MGMT KNOWS AND SHES STILL HERE. THIS IS A PLACE OF DIFFERENT TYPES AND LEVELS OF MENTAL ILLNESS. SHE SHOULD GET A ROOM HERE, AND CONTINUE HER PSYCHIATRY. SHE WOULD FIT RIGHT IN! THAT IS NOT A SAFE OUTLOOK FOR YOUR FAMILY MEMBER.

My first time visiting the facility I received a warm welcome from the front desk staff. The lobby is I beautifully renovated and kept very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Veranda features onsite recreational activities, a beautiful dining area and on site theater. Staff are hands on and dedicated to providing exceptional care. I lived here when it was called Anna Erika. At two people to a room, it was simply awful - no privacy whatsoever. From the photos I've seen it looks much better now but I haven't been there so I can only assume & give them the benefit of the doubt.
