I recently helped my Mom transition from her family home to a one bedroom apartment at Will Roger’s in Saranac Lake. Jenn has been amazing and so accommodating to our many requests and questions. Jamie helped ease the transition on move in day. We are so happy with the staff and are so grateful this place exists. They are 5

I have been calling Will Rogers a cocoon of kindness. Every single person we encountered there was thoughtful, attentive, helpful, thorough, personable, kind, caring and responsive. From the wait staff to the admins to the house keeping crew to the facilities manager. Everyone goes the extra mile. Our move in was very smooth which was so important at such a stressful time in our lives. There is an abundance of activities and all the residents we met spoke about how much they love it there. I simply do not have enough words for the gratitude we feel toward the entire crew for welcoming our entire family into their world.

I am very glad to write a word of appreciation for the home that I have enjoyed at Saranac Village Will Rogers. My wife and I moved to an apartment here on January 31, 2025. Right from the beginning we received all the attention we could ask for from every member of the staff. In a short time we thought of staff members as our friends. Also, we gained many good friends among other residents. We enjoyed meals in the beautiful dining room. The housekeeping staff does our laundry and cleans out our apartment every week. These services mean that we no longer have to shop for food or do routine housekeeping chores. During the time I have been here my wife in failing health had to be placed in a nursing home where she spent her last days. Since my family lives far away, soon I will be leaving this good place to move near my family. Through all of these changes in my life the staff at Will Rogers has shown me great care and compassion, honoring my wife with floral displays and supporting me in every possible way. I cannot say enough about what a good place Will Rogers is. For whatever need I have had the staff has been right there to help. Reverend George Klohck

Saranac Village at Will Rogers is such a beautiful and vibrant community! The historic building has such character and is just stunning. Jamie, the executive director has been running an impeccable community for over 2 decades! He has a contagious passion and energy for the community, the residents and employees. The other managers are equally as amazing & dedicated. The activities calendar is unlike any I have ever seen; it is packed with many fun activities and entertainment every day including outings. The residents are happy and fulfilled. Even the dining experience is top notch and carefully thought out.

My 95 year old father transitioned to Will Roger’s on July 9, 2025. With the assistance from Jennifer Sawyer, Director of Community Relations at WR, it went smoothly. She was able to share available apartments with costs. Once an apartment was chosen, she was also able to furnish for immediate occupancy. I was able to visit my dad daily for 8 days and made positive connections with most of the staff. I then flew home to Florida needlessly worrying. The entire staff from kitchen, housekeeping, transportation to activities have been outstanding!! I truly feel that my dad is in excellent hands at Will Roger’s. Jamie Whidden is their Executive Director and he has been extremely helpful throughout the transition. Thank you all!

My father recently moved into Will Rogers and the entire process initiated by Jen Sawyer was so reassuring and personalized I can't recommend Will Rogers enough for when assisted living becomes necessary for your loved ones. The entire staff there is super committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for the residents.

Making the decision to move my grandmother into Will Rogers was not easy, but thanks to the incredible team, especially Jen and Jamie, the process became one of clarity, compassion, and genuine care. Jen, director of community relation’s, went above and beyond from day one. She was patient with us during multiple visits, never rushing the process. She invited us for lunch, gave us detailed tours, and took the time to show us several apartment options until we found the perfect fit. She struck the perfect balance between being down-to-earth and completely professional. Most importantly, she helped ensure the move was financially sustainable, which gave our family peace of mind. Jamie, the executive director, said something that truly stuck with me- that he wanted me to be a granddaughter again, and that their team would now take on the care I had been giving my grandma for so long. It brought me to tears, honestly. It was the first time in a while I felt like I could exhale. I can’t recommend Will Rogers enough. They made what felt like an overwhelming transition feel safe, supported, and even hopeful.

Incredibly helpful and accommodating staff. Went above and beyond to make my mother feel comfortable. Happy to make small adaptations allowing for her accessibility. People are very friendly and care about the residents. Good, healthy food. Great access to rails to trails pathway, heaps of activities. Rooms for visiting family to rent.

I love Will Rogers. My mother was here and now my sister is here. I have never been to a facility where the staff is so helpful. From the Director on down, if you ask something they just do it. They never hand it off. Most of the time they anticipate your needs before you know they exist. The atmosphere is very friendly and charming. So much history and wonderful wood burning fireplaces. The food is also great. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Everyone at Will Rogers, especially Jen, made a fast, difficult transition as easy as possible. Every staff member we met were welcoming and helpful. Every time I have walked in, the great room smells delicious. My brother's apartment is small but, enough, and exactly what he needs. A safe, private space,with support. The building offers a lot to explore.The grounds and the building are well maintained and very attractive. I do highly recommend Will Rogers at Saranac Lake. Best wishes.

I have been working with Will Rogers since February to establish a new home for my mom and it has been exceedingly smooth/easy to coordinate with the staff. She moves in this week and I can’t wait to see her thrive in this community. Jen Sawyer, the director Jamie, Molly and Tom, the magic maintenance crew have been extremely understanding, beyond helpful and the entire place exudes warm, welcome vibes. Every time I enter the premises the residents are happy and welcoming too. You can tell everyone at Will Roger’s takes their job seriously and goes the extra mile to help their residents and their family members feel welcome and happy. I am beyond grateful there is a safe and welcoming space for my mom so close by!

I recently moved my mom here and I am incredibly happy with the decision. The place and area are beautiful, but the staff is what makes it such a great place. From the director on down to the staff working the floor have ALL been very accommodating and helpful. You can see that they really care for the residents. My mom is getting acclimated and I am able to relax a bit knowing she is in excellent hands.

Will Rogers has a been wonderful place for my mother to recover from a knee injury. The people have been amazingly kind to her and there are so many activities for her to participate in daily. Her apartment was clean when she arrived and they even put in an air conditioner when she was hot. It is the perfect size with a kitchen, living room and bed room. Will Roger’s is an active thriving fun community that even I feel apart of! Kudos to all the staff!

I would highly recommend this retirement community for a loved one. Its definitely worth considering. Being an independent living facility, it draws an active, interesting clientele. The building is a classy, old structure which has been tastefully renovated. They have a large working fireplace where folks gather each night before dinner, and throughout the day, for the warmth and ambience. Activity opportunities abound. You can watch a movie, join an exercise class, or a worship service, or work on a cross word puzzle, to name a few, and, they have an activities director who organizes interesting field trips throughout the Adirondacks. The staff are always helpful, the residents are friendly and cheerful, and whenever we see the manager, he always says, let me know if I can help in any way. He’s very gracious and will go out of his way to be of assistance.

My mother-in-law recently became a resident and she is thriving! Staying at Will Rogers is described as independent living, but the services provided and the vibrant social life facilitated by the caring and professional staff give the residents a much greater sense of community than one might find in other environments.

The first time I toured Saranac Village I asked, "when can I live here?" Although I have not reached the magic number yet (55), I did get to experience what it was like having a family member live there for 4.5 years when it was time to move my dad out of his own place in Naples, FL. The administration worked with us to get financial assistance set up so Dad could enjoy a studio apartment with large windows. He was so thrilled with the delicious food served every day, the regularly scheduled errands options and free transportation to appointments. All the staff were kind and encouraging to him, stopping to chat with him when he rested on the facilities-provided rolling walker he used to get to meals in the dining room. As he became less mobile, he was so pleased to get his favorite lunch, "two soups and a salad" delivered to his apartment. He highly valued the weekly laundry and housekeeping amenitites, saying, "I'm looking forward to getting my clothes and apartment cleaned tomorrow!" He stayed at Saranac Village all through covid and was so thankful for the tremendous care and dedication of the administration and staff to negotiate such a health crisis with unprecedented success, not having a single resident contract covid during the first year and then arranging to have public health nurses come to Saranac Village to offer vaccinations to residents and employees as soon as they became available. As Dad got older and did not leave the building as much anymore, he was still able to enjoy music and entertainment that was performed weekly on the original vaudville stage in the dining room. He was particularly grateful to attend his grandson's high school holiday music concert there, where he did not have to brave whipping winds and icy sidewalks to get to it. When Dad fell in his apartment late one night, without having his medi-alert button on him, it was thanks to the conscientious staff member who asked in the morning, "Why haven't we heard from Landon yet today?" that he was found so quickly and the rescue was called. All through his stay in the hospital and nearby nursing home, he asked every day when could he go home to Saranac Village, missing their good food and friendly staff. Every time I spoke with him, he said, "I am so appreciative that you brought me here to live at Saranac Village. I didn't know how good it could be!" Thanks so much to all the staff at Saranac Village for taking care of my dad--as he would say, "You made an old man happy!" for the last few years of his life.

Jamie and the staff at Saranac Village bent over backwards to accommodate my grandmother's needs. She certainly wasn't used to having EVERYTHING done for her, meals, housekeeping, laundry. She was so comfortable in her apartment and loved socializing with the other residents. I cannot recommend Saranac Village enough. Many thanks to all the staff, especially Jamie, Molly, Linda and Barbara. You are all so caring!

My husband and I lived there for a bit while we were staying in Saranac Lake. It was an amazing place to be! Everyone there is so very friendly, helpful and cheerful. We loved our time at Saranac Village and would recommend it to anyone. Such a beautiful place to live and close to grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants. They also have daily activities on site to keep you entertained any time of day.

Saranac Village at Will Rogers is by far the best independent living facility in the Adirondacks. You are provided with housekeeping, meals, and transportation services, all while living in a beautiful well appointed apartment. The accessibility to nature, as well as the town of Saranac Lake makes a perfect combination for any person considering independent living. Not only is the facility beautiful and well kept, but the staff are some of the most friendly, dedicated and caring individuals I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with. If I could give Will Rogers 10 stars I would!

Saranac village at will Rogers is WONDERFUL! I am a traveling medical professional that was in desperate need of housing on this area and Jaimie and the staff have been so welcoming and wonderful! They are very pet friendly and my pup has loved it here as well! The building is beautiful and has beautiful surroundings with a big yard area and beautiful deck out back. All necessary stores/shops are very close by including Aldi and Mobil at the end of the street and Dollar tree and Dunkin Donuts right across the street. I would highly recommend Will Rogers to anyone for both independent living and assisted living! 11/10!

I have had two family members benefit from the fantastic care and services provided by Saranac Village at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake. The first, my Aunt, was a resident from April 2004, until August 2018. Recognizing that Will Rogers is an independent living environment for seniors was why we originally investigated Will Rogers for our loved one. My Aunt’s stay at Will Rogers was a phenomenal experience for her and my family. She immediately developed a true bond with the staff and administration to the point that she requested the director of Will Rogers serve as a pall bearer at her funeral. Over the years, my Aunt developed increased care needs. The Will Rogers administration worked with us to identify qualified care givers we could hire. When the time came that she could no longer stay at Will Rogers, due to the level of care she required Will Rogers administration helped us identify a reasonable priced assisted living arrangement. Based on our experience with our Aunt, the choice was very simple when in 2015, it came time for my mother to move to a senior living arrangement. Mom, soon to be 99 years young, loves it there. The level and number of available activities are tremendous. I credit her participation in these activities with extending her golden years and giving her a new lease on life. Of special benefit to Mom are her exercise, pinochle, and knitting sessions. Though a lifelong teetotaler she even enjoys occasional participation in the happy hour gathering where she catches up with old friends and meets new friends. Every member of the staff and administration we have dealt with has been caring and helpful. The longevity of both is a testimony to the environment. I handle(d) both my aunt’s and my mother’s finances. From a fiscal point I am happy that not only is the cost of living at Will Rogers very reasonable but is less than the monthly cost I was spending for Mom to live in her own home. My Aunt and now my Mother have benefited from Saranac Village at Will Rogers, allowing them to continue their independent living in their lifelong communities.

The Adirondack region is so lucky to have an independent, senior living facility like Saranac Village at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake! The staff are all so friendly and helpful, and they treat the residents and guests like family. From fall until spring, the fireplaces in the Great Room are favorite spots to gather to enjoy the warmth and the comaraderie of friends and family. Evening programs offer music, lectures, plays, and more and bring community members to visit as well. Staff are present 24-hours a day, and are always within reach if a resident needs them. Three meals are provided daily, laundry and housekeeping weekly, maintenance requests always completed on demand, and transportation and activities daily. Pets are allowed, and short-term stays too. What could be better? Give them a chance to show you how wonderful life can be!

Saranac Village at Will Rogers is a wonderful Independent Living Retirement Community. After living in the area for 35 years my Mom needed to down size but she didn't want to leave the area. We were able to find an apartment for her at Saranac Village at Will Rogers. The staff there are friendly and genuinely care about each resident! You immediately feel like family. It is a very caring, nurturing, social and fun place to live. Mom is always busy and has made many friends there. We would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a safe independent living environment but doesn't need medical assistance!
