They are a true 5 I would give them a 100 if I could. Staff, from top administrators to volunteers, all have been great. No one has ever given us any issues and are always ready to help. It is a very clean senior living facility. There is always someone walking around and picking up. There are a variety of room types- assisted and enhanced, private or semi private, small, medium and large living areas. It is a comforting feeling to know your loved one is being well cared for, as you would care for them yourself. There are daily activities for loved ones to partake of if the mood strikes. I would highly recommend this facility and I commend all those for their professionalism as well as compassion towards the residents and their families.

Would absolutely love to understand why rent is Soo expensive 5k but yet activities are taken away such as the Sunday church day which now just every other Sunday. The church is 5 mins away and now are not taking the residents when it's "too cold". They started to offer scheduled medical appointments rides but request 10$ . You think the amount you charge for rent you would have a bus there more often vrs sharing it with another facility. Food they serve is okay they serve canned food alot. This is also the 3rd owner in the 3 yrs my mom has lived there.

Was very clean to the eye, but 2 different hallways smelled like urine with room spray.

The Legacy drained the resident of their money! They claimed she needed all this extra care! Funny we moved her, and she is thriving with no extra care! Please do not trust the Legacy!

Legacy at Maiden Park is such a wonderful place! With staff members who are so kind and helpful at all times it really make me feel so relieved knowing my grandma is at the right home. Every time I come to visit I am greeted so kindly at the front door with staff members kindly greeting me as I pass by. I know my grandma is so happy here because every time I come to visit I always catch her with brightest smile on her face. Between all the activities they’ve got going on she can either always have something to do or just relax and join in when she pleases. I am so happy that Legacy at Maiden park was the one for my family. Thank you so much I couldn’t be more grateful for the upmost care you take of the residents! To them they are their family to and you can totally feel that love!!

Before I start, I want to warn everyone that this is going to be a long review. I was an employee of Legacy at Maiden Park before the community was even open. During my several years of employment I saw things change. Some things for the better and some things not so much. I loved working there. The staff was amazing. I started as the only nurse with one resident and as the population grew my positions within Legacy morphed into being a Unit coordinator, Case manager and assistant to the Resident Care Director. The only reason I left Legacy to go to another community was because it was a promotion to being the Resident Care Director. Fast forward to the present day. My mother has been in memory care at Maiden Park since June 2023. The summer went well with no concerns, but things started to change in the fall with the staff. How sad it has been for me to learn how much things have changed since I worked there. My family and I have noticed there has been some really caring staff in the memory care, so to them we say thank you. As for most of the staff, we are not impressed with the level of care, concern and love shown to the residents. There have been a lot of staff changes. Most of the caring, loving staff has been terminated (not only noticed by family of several residents, but current staff has told us “All the good staff has been fired”). Not sure of the reasons, but there were at least 5-10 great staff let go. Now Legacy has a lot of agency staff and if they are not agency, they appear to be Watermark staff that are very uncaring. While I worked at Legacy, we struggled with getting good staff but we also did not fire staff when there were issues that could have been corrected with discussing the issues. That is called “corrective action”. 1. My mom had been in the hospital for 4 days and I requested she get a shower when I returned her to the community. I asked three times before I left. Everyone looked at me like I had three heads. No one got up from their break of doing nothing, to get her in the shower. I ended up emailing the RSD to ensure it was done. I had also advised the med tech at that time she needed her PRN inhaler. Her doctor’s order is for 2 puffs as needed. I noticed on the way home from the hospital she was have difficulty breathing. After basically telling the med tech to give it to her, she finally was given her inhaler. She had her puff once and put the cap back on. She started walking away and I told her she needed another puff. If that happens with me standing right there, what is happening when no one is around??? 2. Due to the fall and hospital stay she had a new order to have one assist while using a walker. A walker she had never used before (She only needed it for about two weeks then PT got here off it). I returned to the community that evening to put her new sneakers on. When I got there, she was not in memory care. They had taken her to music on EALR, which was fantastic, however, when I got over there the residents were on their way back to memory care. Our mother was in the back of the line WITHOUT the $2500 assist near her. I sent an email to the RSD detailing our annoyance with the fact there was no one assist anywhere near her but yet, she was being charged an extra $2500 for it!! But that fell on deaf ears. The response from the RSD was “I’ll discuss it with the staff”. Is that the same staff who sit on their phones the whole time? 3. Our mother’s brand-new glasses have been missing for well over a month. Closer to 2 months. I would think by the number of times we have said something to the staff, they would have been found by now. I went through the hall cabinets (One of the staff told me to look since I know what they look like) and unfortunately so far no glasses. All my family members ask the staff to look for them because memory care residents have obvious cognitive changes, and the glasses and probably are in another resident’s room. If I was able, I’d check the rooms. But again, no one takes the time to search for them. Way too busy looking at their phones. 4. My sister who is the POA had reached out to the RSD, the case manager and business director on multiple occasions to discuss concerns. She has left messages and never received return calls. I think she is still waiting for a return call. I got tired of not getting return calls, so I stopped and only used email to communicate. 5. To have the RSD’s office up in the administration hall instead of on the floor is poor judgement. I have never worked in an Assisted Living Community where the families and residents did not have direct access to the RSD. To me having an open-door policy with the residents and families is extremely important. I’d have to say this just shows how unimportant the families and residents really are. 6. Even more so, to take a supervisor who had an office on memory care out and replace it with the maintenance office is just filled with poor judgement. The memory care population doesn’t need a bunch of men (if there were females, I’ve never seen them) coming in and out of memory care. When this was brought up to the RSD, the response I got was that the staff was congregating too much in the supervisor’s office when it was in memory care. Ridiculous reasoning. I would have to suggest next time having a staff meeting with the supervisor to discuss how to handle staff congregating. The answer Legacy had was to pull the direct supervisor completely off the unit and let the staff sit around doing nothing except playing on their phones. The phone situation is out of control there. Not only has our mom’s friends and family noticed, but other residents family members have also mentioned it in passing. Rarely do I see much interaction with the residents unless activities are doing something, or they are getting ready to have a meal. So I guess it is better to have staff on the memory care unit without a direct supervisor where the population is more fragile, so staff can be on their phones the entire shift. 7. The community is very dirty. There is nothing moved to give a good cleaning. Our mom has a small floor shelf unit. My sister was moving her from Legacy and when they moved the unit (which is very light and there isn’t much to it and the dust and dirt underneath was totally disgusting. 8. I had an issue that I waited to speak to the RSD about. She was out getting snacks for an upcoming staff meeting and came in just as I was leaving. I started to discuss a concern and her response to me was “ I can’t talk I’m getting ready for a staff meeting in a few minutes. _____ can help you”. Well guess what? I didn’t want ____ to help me I wanted to speak to the RSD. But I wasn’t as important as her snacks and her upcoming staff meeting. 9. One last thing. We made the decision based on all the above-mentioned items, along with several more concerns, to move our mother to a different community. The entire staff knows when and who is moving out. NO ONE came and said goodbye to our mother. The RSD was in her office, again up in the admin hall and didn’t come say anything to my sister or our mother. Not very professional in my opinion. Just reinforces that Legacy has no interest in their residents or the families. The BIGGEST focus this community has is $$$$$$$. Once they aren’t getting any money from you they don’t care about anything. These things may seem very trivial, but they are just the tip of the iceberg of the concerns and issues we have had come up. I could go on for hours. But hopefully anyone reading this gets the point. For $4300 a month (for a shared room) I’d say it’s totally disgusting. Also, our mom has been there since June of last year. On March 1, 2024 her monthly rate increased from $4300 to $4700. It’s called bait and switch. Get her in there at one price, then within 9 months raise it $400 !!!!!!!!!!! Putting on a review for Legacy at Maiden Park was difficult because it has been an important part of my life for several years. I have taken care of the memory care population since 2013 and know what is important from an administrator perspective and now from a family perspective. I know the drill with families and the administration. This review is only being put out there to possibly stop someone from spending WAYYY too much for their loved one’s care at Legacy at Maiden Park. Think long and hard about having someone you love move into Legacy at Maiden Park. What was once a loving, caring, well working community, now has proven to be a community where $$ is king, where there is no solid supervision, where the RSD (and/or Watermark) prefers to be up front instead of being approachable with an open door policy, where the administration refuses to take responsibility for their own actions, decisions and choices but chooses put point blame at the previous administration. (I was told the staffing issues were a direct result of the past administration. Well, the past admin is long gone. Time for the current administration to step up their game. To be totally clear, our families’ views have nothing to do with my employment or any other previous employees at Legacy. We were under the impression that our mom would get the same loving care that residents received when I was there. We were 100% wrong. Do your homework. A nice building is nothing more than a nice building. Search out a community that will show love, concern, and have a staff that demonstrates that caring nature when family in, and is not in the building.

My mom has been at Legacy At Maiden Park for 10 months. Mom is comfortable and happy in her new community. Seeing her happy takes a huge burden off of me, as well as how ALL the staff that warmly welcomes us every time we go to visit mom. Communication with administration and staff is 100% and that is a huge plus. Mom is not treated like a patient, she is treated with compassion and friendship. Mom refers to the employees as her friends and smiles when she talks about the conversations she had with them. All the socializing and friendships created is what has made mom refer to Legacy as home. That alone, is what makes me recommend Legacy at Maiden Park.

My father just spent his first week living at Legacy at Maiden Park in Rochester, NY and we couldn't be happier. Dad is 97 years old and needs a lot of support to get through the day. His aides at Legacy reflect caring and competence as they assist him throughout the day with tasks such as dressing, bathing, eating, and grooming. Every aide we've met has been kind, patient, and friendly. They encourage Dad to take part in daily activities and engage him in conversation. He never feels like a burden, rather the staff makes him feel appreciated and important. The directors and nursing staff are easy to reach and very supportive. The residence is clean and attractive, more like an upscale hotel than an assisted living facility. Thank you Legacy for making dad's move to assisted living a great experience!
