My aunt was left on the floor in her room after falling for FOUR hours before anyone responded to her for help. When they called me to tell me she passed away, I was told “your aunt is dead.” Social worker then proceeded to advise me how much time I had to get her things out. She was not happy there but she was 96 and did not have the strength to go through moving again. It just saddens me so much.

It's been 4 months since Ruben has joined this magical place. I am 1,000 miles away but I have peace of mind that Ruben is in a secure place, with independence to move around, served good daily meals, engaging entertainments, medical care when needed, a much more. I can attest that, staff at this location, from the Front Desk, Associates, Case Managers, every one takes charge to answer questions, assist residents and their relatives with a professional and caring disposition. Almost every week they find a reason to celebrate an event with fun and laugher. Ruben and I are blessed to have found this magical place.

She was very happy there and the staff went above and beyond to meet her sometimes difficult needs. My family and I can't thank them enough for her wonderful and loving care. I can't say enough good things about Somerset. My almost deaf, 99yr old father with dementia Iived at Cottage for the last 8 months of his life. Jazzmine, the case manager, made sure he was well cared for and content. Jazzmine kept me updated on his status and was always upbeat with him. She and Edvin even communicated with him in Chinese with Google translate. Dawn and the full aide staff gave him the freedom and the safe environment to live out his last days fulfilled and on his own terms, including his peaceful passing. Marla and Somerset staff were great to work with and always available to me. I am grateful they were there during our difficult times with dad. They made it easier to accept our decision to place dad's care there.

My mother-in-law stayed at this facility for well over one year. At one point, I had what I thought was a discreet conversation with a senior staff member and mentioned that it was becoming too expensive for her to stay there. A couple of months later she was suddenly sent to the hospital because she wasn't feeling well. A few days later she was visited by another staff member who "discovered" a bed sore and said they could not take her back. Well, that bed sore could not have happened from a short stay at the hospital so she must have gotten it while still at Somerset Gardens. My mother-in-law was in her early 90's with recently diagnosed dementia, but she could still get around. Furthermore, a nurse at the hospital verified that the sore was small and did not pose a health threat. However, to the folks at Somerset it did not matter. It was clear to me that they were essentially looking out for themselves. They either did not want her health to decline while still at their facility or for money to run out while she was still an occupant so they took the preemptive measure of kicking her out. Just like that, at a moments notice with no options or alternatives and absolutely zero empathy.

When you are faced with the reality of not being able to properly care for an elderly loved one, finding an alternative, suitable living arrangement can be quite a nightmare. Not in my case. When that dreaded time did arrive, I was lucky enough to find out about Somerset Gardens and after my first introductory visit, I KNEW that this community would be my mom's new home! When I brought my (very reluctant) mom for a meet and greet, both Dani and Jackie led my mother and I down a path of serenity with their huge smiles and answers to ALL of the questions brought up by BOTH of us! I write this review 7 months after my mom's first day living at SG and the concerns that were initially discussed, the promises that were given, ALL of these have been addressed and delivered! To quote my 12 year old son after a visit with grandma, "Geez dad, I've never seen grandma so look so happy"...

Our Mom is in the cottage. She has gotten outstanding, loving care from the staff at Somerset Gardens. Corinne LaCorte the cottage director is always ready willing and able to answer our question and take the best care off Mom. Edvin Linares the cottage coordinator is also always available to our family and always willing to help our mother. They are a fabulous team. We are so very grateful to know that mom has the best possible care. Thank you so so much. Somerset is fortunate to have both Corinne and Edvin as heads of the cottage team. Dawn is in charge of social activities and wears many hats, does many jobs. We love her as well. The love she has for her residents is the love you have for your family. The staff in cottage is outstanding, thank you to all the nurses and aides. Army too is outstanding. Thank you thank you thank you Somerset. Dani you are fabulous and so is your staff.

My mother has been at the Country Cottage section since this past August. I am extremely pleased with the care and attention my mother is receiving. The entire staff, from the aids, nurses, activity coordinators, is outstanding. Very attentive and caring. I am also extremely impressed by the professionalism and compassion of the Cottage Director, Corinne and the Cottage Coordinator, Edwin. Their passion and caring for All of the residents is clearly evident.

My father entered the memory care unit of Somerset Gardens almost a year ago and despite having dementia he seems to be enjoying a higher quality of life than when he was home. We believe this is due to the wonderful staff who take great care of him. The facilities at Somerset Gardens are clean and well maintained. My father participates in the activities that are offered and this stimulates him. Cottage coordinators Edvin Linares and Corinne La Corte always make themselves available to my family whether it’s to answer any questions or concerns we have or just to keep us updated on my father’s day. They truly treat him as if he’s a family member and we greatly appreciate that.

When my mom started showing signs of dementia and my family began looking for a facility to keep her safe, Somerset Gardens seemed the logical choice. The help I received from LeAnn in preparing to apply, watching videos of the facility (Covid pandemic prevented in- person tours), and gathering everything we needed for admission was outstanding. LeAnn was so helpful and welcoming, and I couldn't have completed the admissions process without her. When Mom moved into The Country Cottage, Somerset's memory care unit, the Covid pandemic prevented us from in-person visits for awhile, which was so hard on us all. But Corinne, Director of The Cottage, was amazing and so helpful. She set up FaceTime sessions between us and my mom, and she kept me informed about everything Mom was going through. Her care and compassion proved to be a lifeline during such a difficult time. When Edvin joined The Cottage as Corinne's assistant director, he became another lifeline to my family, even after visitations were again welcomed. Edvin also shows the care and compassion that Corinne does, which is reassuring to us. Corinne and Edvin, and Dani Laino, Executive Director of Somerset Gardens, all treat my mom like family, and by extension our family is treated with such friendly affection. My family and I are so grateful for the wonderful care Mom has received at Somerset, and when we visit, it warms our hearts to see how happy and well taken care of she is. And the rest of The Cottage staff is to be commended on all they do for Mom. Dawn and her crew do such a great job providing all kinds of fun activities to keep Mom and her friends happy and occupied. They are all so warm and friendly. Thank you to everyone at Somerset Gardens for making Mom's life better, which helps my family and me sleep at night.

Somerset Gardens is so amazing. My dad is so happy there. The employees go above & beyond especially Corrine LaCorte. I don’t know what we would do without her. She is so genuinely kind and caring and keeps us up to date on anything dad is doing or might need. She makes the residents feel like they are one big family and is there for any families needs or concerns immediately. Thanks to wonderful employees like her and Edvin & Dani & Dawn, Somerset Gardens in Plainview is a wonderful place! Edvin always makes sure dad gets involved whether it’s cooking and assisting or taking a little sightseeing trip in the van. That is truly much appreciated! Dawn always makes sure we get to FaceTime dad and talk to him whenever possible and Dani makes sure everything is running smoothly like one big family! People like these that ho above & beyond is why Somerset Gardens in Plainview is such a wonderful place!

I want to let everyone know how pleased I am with the Somerset Gardens staff and community. Both my mom and dad have been part of the Somerset Gardens community for more than four years. My mom just recently passed away, and the care and caring attention she received was extraordinary. My father's health and happiness is my primary concern and I am happy to report he loves living in this environment. He is able to exercise his independence and takes part in the many myriads of the activities that are offered, has made many friends in the community, and he enjoys the quality and selection of the food. His interactions on a daily basis with all the staff are wonderful. From care-workers, to the medical team, to maintenance, to Administration (including Dani Lano, the director) and Social services - each person is the best at what they do. This is not just their job, they truly care about the residents and it shows in their attitude, expertise and follow-up. The various staff members communicate and update me regularly in person and even when I am not there visiting, so I am able to sleep well at night knowing that my father's health and wellbeing is always monitored and in the best of hands.

Moved my dad here from another well known chain, immediately saved him 4K a month and he likes it better! Excellent care, friendly helpful staff, and they supply a life alert button for free as well as a phone in the room that calls directly to the front desk - two things not available at the other place. They dont nickel and dime you on the bill either. His room is bright and comfortable and he even has a little terrace.
