This week I visited the Dumont Rehabilitation Center. The director, Amir, gave me a tour. I was very impressed, from the friendliness of the staff to how well-maintained and beautiful the center is. What a beautiful center! My father really enjoyed the back area for fishing and relaxing. I think I'm convinced this center is the right fit for him, and so is my father.

My aunt stayed at this rehabilitation nursing facility for two weeks for physical therapy, and our family had a wonderful experience. My sister-in-law was at the Dumont for 9 weeks with 3 breaks in her ankle and non-weight bearing for 6 weeks. The PT was excellent “ big shout out to Eli, Karen and Jamie. She had PT 6 days a week and we credit this care to getting her back walking so quickly! Also, very big shout out to Jacob, an administrator/ concierge, who helped with just about anything and everything. He always either picked up his phone and/or got right back to us always addressing our concerns. The nurses and workers at this facility were very nice, very caring, and very helpful. My SIL was on the younger side (58) and Theresa, who headed up activities and the hair salon, had lots going on for her to participate in. Thank you to the Dumont.

I've got to be honest. I really did not expect to see my dad progress so much after he had been bed-ridden in the hospital for many weeks, mostly due to his age. He's in his late 80s. But once my dad got to Dumont, MJ and the other staff in the gym brought him back to his feet! My dad kind of balked at having to exercise 2x a day--who can blame him? But at the end of his stay, he could walk unassisted for over 50 yards and then, with the help of the rollator, he was walking for longer distances without a problem. I visited him for most of his stay and had the chance to meet with his Care Team, all of whom were exceptional. It's so nice to see the elderly taken care of with such compassion and support. Thank you, Dumont, for all you have done for my dad! He's still doing great thanks to you guys!

My 94 year Grandmother spent approximately 3 months in facility unfortunately her mobility declined while there however the attendant staff there was excellent especially Jessica Lewis who became very close care giver to my Grandmother her dedication to her craft she made her stay there very comfortable in fact so good she’s asking for her while now home we offered Jessica to maintain contact with Grandma through FaceTime phone calls we also appreciate the service provided by Donna another attendant who was very special to her during her stay she ensured that Grandma was fed and cleaned up regularly considering she was bedridden we also want to thank Head Nurse Boone for her professionalism and attention to detail she was available and attentive to our calls and connecting us to her medical needs while providing the proper resources during her stay and following up during her discharge those are just a few of the staff members that were outstanding and overall the entire staff was always polite and respectful..

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this nursing home. The level of care provided here is truly phenomenal. From the nursing staff to the aides and support team, every single person treats residents with compassion, dignity, and genuine kindness. I'm late with this. Still wanted to contribute. My 95 year old father got a stroke back in November 2024. He got transferred here from Burke (after 3 weeks). He was at Dumont for 3 months for short term therapy. I can only testify for the 1st floor which was where he stayed. The first floor Manager, Victoria was very approachable, and on top of her work. She took her job seriously. Thank you girl! For the most part, the nurses on the first floor were nice. My dad loved Lisa especially! Thank you Lisa for your service, and big heart! My dad's experience: -Physical therapy and occupational therapy were 30min each. Shorter than Burke's. -He was pretty bored in his room. Expect little to no recreational activities for elderlies; just a word search. -Our social worker barely called me. I initiated most phone calls with our social worker which was disappointing. It was lackluster service. My advice: -They don't offer long term nursing home care -Check up on your loved ones consistently. When the staff sees that, they know you don't play around. -Provide things to keep your loved one entertained in their room (headphones for music/podcast, coloring book, books, journal, etc) -Speak up, and vouch for your loved one. Unfortunately, in this country the dollar sign is everything. People don't care. My dad is bed bound due to his condition (paralyzed on the left side from the stroke. I am still getting the help he needs. I wish you the best with your loved ones. God bless.

My dad stayed at Dumont Center after his hip replacement, and they took such great care of him. The rehab team pushed him just the right amount, and the nurses were always on top of his pain and comfort. He went from barely walking to doing stairs again in just a few weeks. Super grateful, highly recommend for post-surgery rehab.

My grandma stayed at Dumont Center for a few weeks after her fall and I can’t thank the staff enough for how they cared for her. Everyone was so kind, patient, and gentle they made her feel safe and truly cared for. The rehab team worked with her every day until she was walking on her own again, and seeing her confidence come back meant everything to us. Nurses and staff are a delight and very attentive. However, the food could be better. I’m not sure what the standards are in nursing homes for food quality but I believe the menu should be adjusted. Whoever the nutritionist is should ratify options. I don’t believe it’s that hard to come up with a menu that can benefit, majority of the patients there. A platter of freshly baked chicken and plain white jasmine rice would suffice. In expensive and of good quality. Loved ones have jobs, careers, children, and other obligations and quality diet is crucial to the well-being of elders and those in need of intensive care. Telling the family members that If they don’t like it, they can just order for them isn’t something that should become the norm. It is in the rights of the patients that they should get quality care all around, especially when it comes to diet. Also, I worry about the staff there. They have to work tirelessly still have to order food? Most of them have to pay for delivery. There are no local restaurants or conveniences in the area. When placing my mother there I was unaware about the accessibility in that area. Unfortunately, the case manager had made the choice for me. Coming up with a solution that benefits everyone would be ideal. Implementing a designated food area with options for all could possibly bring in revenue, which will then help the facility. Hoping for some adjustments in the future, not only for my mother, but for future families to come. Let’s be the change.

I wouldn’t call this a luxury rehab facility. The physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are amazing. The nursing staff need some work and compassion. Some are very rude and should learn some bedside manners. The aides are amazing also. They should be the nurses. They are very loving and really care for the patients.
