My father was a resident until he unfortunately passed away recently. He had a long and full life of 84 years and spent his last year being very well cared for at Olsen’s Rest Home. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. If you are considering a residence to take care of your elderly parents or a loved one then I highly recommend considering Olsen’s. It has been family owned and operated since the 1950’s and is currently run by George Olsen and his daughter Ellen. My father loved living there after a bad experience at one of the larger elder care facilities located locally. There are only twenty something residents so your loved one will get plenty of attention. All of the girls who work there are very nice and genuinely caring. I would visit him 3 times a week and every time I showed up he always looked great with his hair combed, shaved and dressed in a new outfit. Olsen’s is located in Nesconset on a beautiful wooded lot and is impeccably clean. It is a throwback to a generation gone by with a real homey feel. I always felt great at the end of our visit knowing when I left that he was in good hands and being very well cared for. In addition to their impeccable care they are also reasonably priced. If you are in need of adult care for a loved one then look no further than Olsen’s.

My mother just dropped my grandmother off here and she says my grandmother is just lit up. My mom is in tears with how happy she is to make this hard choice. Thank Gd such a place exists for elderly care, such a unique place. Im surprised Olsens doesn't have more great reviews.

Olsen Rest Home is kind of like 5 bungalow houses which they attached them through hallways, and it just makes you feel that you are in a home and not in a hospital. It is small and only has about 38 residents. They have 2 living rooms -- one on each side of house -- and they have about 40 high back chairs, so even if the other people from the other side come over, they always have enough room for everybody to sit. Then they have a small kitchen and an area where they all eat together where it looks like youre in the 1950s eating dinner with everybody. My mom has only been there for 3 weeks but in that 3 weeks I really feel like they care. It is not really pretty, but most of the older people dont really need all that prettiness like young people nowadays. It is just very homey. It is very old-fashioned, and for my mom, it is perfect.

Olsen Rest Home is fine. It's very clean. The people here are very nice. Everybody is very friendly and eager to help. The staff is helpful. My room is fine; it's a 1-bedroom. I have no problems with it. There is no kitchen here or anything like it.

They're doing a good job taking care of my Dad here. It's a nice place, not overcrowded at all, and it has a nice homey feel. Dad complains about the people there being "too old", so they could use more activities to keep people active. I wouldn't have any problem recommending it to someone. The owner is a great guy, he's an attorney so he knows what he is expected to take care of, and takes care of business.

We chose this community because it was a more home like atmosphere. It is a small community and really helps the one on one type care. We are very happy with this community and would recommend it to anyone.
