My aunt ( currently 95 years old) has been a resident at Braemar Living at Wallkill since Sept of 2017. When she first moved in she was still very independent and able to take care of herself without much support from the staff. During and after the Covid-19 pandemic, the services provided have been deminished due to the lack of staff. My aunt recently had some medical problems and between hospitalization and rehabilitation, was out of the residence for 3 1/2 months. She pays completely out of pocket to reside at Braemar, and is not getting the services that she pays for. On Saturday June 30th, they only had 2 girls tendind to all the residents, this is unacceptable. Upper management needs to do something about this immediately!

I wish that this place would hire more aids to help residents with personal needs. NOT to leave residents on the toilet for very long periods of time. Someone helped a resident out of the dinning hall about 4:30 in the afternoon on Friday, June 23, 2023. That person who had been soiled was walked to the bathroom just down the hall. The person who had walked her there then went into a different door. Then returned to what I assumed to what she was doing in the first place. I never saw anyone go in to help the soiled person in the bathroom. Although I did notice anyone go into the rest room just before second seating at dinner time to help out the lady who had soiled herself. I would not want anyone to be treated in such a manor. PLEASE hire more caring and compassionate people to take good care of loved ones in there golden years. I am sure that you have several cameras that can show you exactly what did happen?

My mom was transferred to Braemar to be closer to all of us. The staff made the transition very pleasant! My mom really likes it there and says that the food is very good! The staff is very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend this place.

Dad has relocated from another facility in port jervis and had been neglected and so miserable. He had begged for years to go to braemar and they finally had bed available. He is so happy and is now finally getting the proper therapy he needs to rebuild the muscle that was lost while he stayed at the other facility. Dad is finally smiling. Braemar is beautiful and the other residents have all welcomed him and they all seem so happy and have raved about how wonderful they are treated. I can now sleep easy knowing my dad will be treated with respected and will be cared for like he deserves. Dad is no longer just a bed that is filled, but a person at Braemar!

My mom(96) and my sister (65 ) have been residents since June of 2018. The facility itself is fantastic, except for the elevators that cant fit 2 wheelchairs in them. The main problem is that they have been understaffed forever. I was there Monday and only 2 of the staff were working to take care of all of the residents. Its supposed to be 4 on duty. It took 45 minutes before they reached the room to assist my sister who needs help in the bathroom This situation is not unusual. I go to visit 3 times a week and its always something Either the laundry is not being taken care of or no one shows up to give them their showers or nobody answers the call for help. I have spoken to management on numerous occasions and nothing seems to work. Time to start looking for another residential alternative Sad but true.... Very disappointed.Since I originally posted this review much has changed at Braemar. The staff has been updated significantly. When my sister needs help they are knocking at the door within 10 minutes. She is a tier 5 resident and needs help for just about everything. So far so good. I am confident that this will continue. If you do have a concern with the care on any level, managements reaction is positive to alleviate all of your concerns. Please keep up the good work. It is appreciated and needed by the residents and family.

I brought my mother to tour the facility. The person that provided the tour was friendly, polite, knowledgeable and cognizant about walking slowly in the facility. She spoke with my mother and I before the tour allowing for any questions. We opted not to use the facility because of the distance fro myself and friends that could visit her. The facility has many services and benefits to residents that live there. And the person followed up with me to see what we had decided. Very professional in many aspects.

My initial impression of Braemar was very positive & upon completing a full tour, given by Pat, who was terrific, I felt comfortable & good about the prospect of placing Mom at your residence.Braemar has a homey feel with just the right amenities available ie: pub, theater & chapel & more.Lovely decor with attention to detail.Clean without being sterile.Being greeted by a warm fireplace on a cold day is a perfect welcome.The staff was pleasant & the residents smiling & engaged.ts not an easy decision to place Mom into someone elses care however, I left feeling positive about Braemar & believe Mom will be well cared for.I have since met with the Social Worker, Nancy & Director of Admissions, Beljanny who were professional & informative & quitespectful of MomI look forward to visiting Mom as a resident of BraemarThank you for your time & considerationBest regards Deborah DiMase ~
