The staff at the Homestead are so very warm, kind, and friendly. The ladies at the front desk are always greeting you with a smile. Felicia is the administrator and what a beautiful person. She always has time to talk with me and address any situation I may have concerns about. Shamenie is the case manager and also is very kind and helpful. Steve is so very nice. He always will answer my calls or texts. I have met him in person and he is extremely kind. Also I want to mention a specific aide. Her name is Lolita. She is the best!

My mother-in-law lived at The New Homestead Home from January 2024 until May 15, 2025 when she passed away peacefully in a hospital. Her room was sunny with her own television, bathroom and small refrigerator. She was well taken care of by the New Homestead staff including case managers Shamenie and Felicia and her beloved aides Jasmine and Hannah. She looked forward to seeing them and they doted on her. They were also very loving to me as well. Jamilah arranged her transportation to and from doctor's appointments and the times she had to go to the hospital. They were always in touch with me and the director Steven could not have been more reassuring, compassionate and responsive to any of my questions and requests. I did not worry about her there. Yes, they could use an upgrade in carpets and even the menu but none of that is a complaint because Peace of mind is everything.

I was facing a difficult situation with having to move my parent from Florida to New York in a short period of time. Added to that, my mom was struggling living independently and needed the support of an assisted living facility. Stephen and the staff at the new Homestead provided exactly the right setting that I was looking for in her transition. She quickly adapted from living in isolation to having friends and people around that cared for her and made sure that she was well attended to. I am grateful to the staff at the New Homestead for providing such a welcoming and caring environment.

This is an amazing assisted living environment. Everything here at New Homestead is impressive. The services offered are complete. The rooms are clean and the menu choices and activities are abundant. There is a lovely outdoor seating area. Steven is friendly, competent and compassionate. The residents are well cared for. The best part of The New Homestead assisted living facility is its exceptional staff, whose friendliness and dedication made a significant impact on my aunt’s experience. We consistently praised the aides, medical technicians, and other staff for their warm and attentive care, creating a supportive and engaging environment that helped us feel our aunt was valued and well-cared-for. Their genuine interactions and proactive approach are standout features, contributing greatly to the facility's positive atmosphere. However, it’s important to note that the facility itself would benefit from renovations to enhance its overall appeal. While the staff's exceptional service provides a comforting and supportive atmosphere, updates to the dining room and gathering spaces would further improve the overall environment. Despite this, the friendliness of the staff remains a major asset, making The New Homestead a welcoming choice for those seeking a caring and personable residence. Another thing that is really worth mentioning is that someone has always been available to answer the phone whenever we called the main number. We checked on her very often, and we were not left hanging whenever we called. They quickly connected us to her room whenever we called. We must give special recognition of one of the aides there named Pam. She was my aunt’s one-one-one/ private-pay aide for several hours per day. She was incredibly compassionate and caring, and she absolutely went above and beyond. She not only provided for my aunt’s basic needs, but she also provided comfort and support, and treated my aunt like she was her own family. We are truly thankful to her, and we couldn’t ask for more. Ultimately, we chose The New Homestead because they were able to accept my aunt with her limited mobility, they were very kind and welcoming to her, and the location next to the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) train was very convenient. The outdated decor was just not that important. The most important thing to us was for her to receive care and compassion. We believe she enjoyed her stay, thanks to the caring and friendly staff.

The New Homestead is an old school family run assisted living facility. Several employees have worked there for more than a decade (a good indicator) and really care about the residents. You feel a good energy when you enter the Homestead. Facility is clean with a rotating menu. Thank you Jamilla for the tour and orientation! Although it’s been less than a month, so far my Nana is happy with the Homestead and I am thankful that our family found this assisted living facility for her. The New Homestead does not have bells and whistles but they do have consistent daily programming, caring staff, and activities including outside group walks (My Nana’s favorite), morning exercise sessions, guest musicians and bingo. As a social butterfly and an active 92 year old Black woman finding a home with a range of programming and a diverse body of residents and staff was critical for my Nana. Shout out to the Director of Activities Lisa for the programming and taking the time to connect with my Nana and me. I always feel welcome when I visit her. On a side note, fortifying and expanding the Homestead’s technology to include a reliable fax number and an auto-pay online platform for room & board would go a long away! Thank you to the staff for all that you do day in and day out for your residents.

My mom has lived independently until quite recently. Circumstances led to us needing to move her to an assisted living community. We are beyond grateful that we were led to The New Homestead. From the moment we walked in to take a look, the warmth, friendliness, caring and comfortable environment was apparent. This is a family run establishment and it is clear that everyone that lives there is treated as cherished family. The living accommodations are spacious and sunny and well- furnished. The food is delicious and abundant. The longevity of the staff is evidence of how much they love it there too! We couldn’t be happier, and more importantly, my mom is happy and well taken care of. The New Homestead is in a lovely residential neighborhood that is convenient for us to get to by public transportation so visiting is an all around joy! My mother was living here at The New Homestead about 3 years ago and the service was excellent!! The staff were so generous and kind. Due to my distance with my mother, it was difficult to visit quite often- but the personal care agents made it very possible to speak with my mother almost everyday!! The staff are very sincere and I feel as though I couldn’t have trusted anyone else to take care of my mother. When she passed- I was treated with such gentleness and was offered condolences from all. Im glad that my mother had a great experience here before she went on to the next stage. My 100 year old Holocaust survivor mom, Rosa, with all her faculties, just moved into The New Homestead, an enhanced assisted living/adult home on Sunday, April 16, 2023. She was very reluctant to leave her home and move into a strange and new place away from her family. Prior to visiting this facility, I made a 25 point spread sheet with specific points and questions that I needed to be sure would give my mom the best place for her to live. Of all the places I called, Steven was the only one who guaranteed that everything my mom needed (which is a great deal) would be provided, so I decided to see for myself. Steven Schonberger, the owner, welcomed me when I came to visit, showed me around, and answered all my questions and concerns, and assured me this would be an ideal and reasonable place where my mom would get everything that she needed. So I went home and explained how impressed I was by the room she would have, the staff, and all the things they would provide. My mom, of course was very upset and still didn't want to leave home, but at 100 years old, money was an issue. Plus she told me she would never leave her room and participate in any activities. Steven called that very same evening that I visited and spoke with my mom and she was so very happy and impressed, and he promised her, that what she required she'd get. Then came the day we visited The New Homestead, and then the following week she moved in! Her room is decorated in lavender (her favorite color) with all her favorite things to make it feel as homey as possible. While she told me that she would never partake of any activities, they took her to the entertainment room the first day where they had a wonderful singer who sang for two and a half hours. My mom loved it and sang along and then spoke to the singer after. My mom sang and made a few records in her time, so she recognized a quality singer. She has had a manicure, games, music, and so much more. She has only been there for five days and she has gone to all the activities and is loving it. At home she only had family and at The New Homestead she now has made a few friends. She is even eating different pureed foods and even "hailed the chef" after enjoying a very delicious meal the other day. I cannot thank everyone there for their attention to my moms needs, the care they show her, how well they treat her, and the way they get her involved in all this wonderfully planned activities. However, none of this could have happened without the kindness of the staff. My mom has taken a special liking to Ragin (administrator) and it is mutual. She speaks French with my mom, and my mom and her have a special rapport together. She has made her introduction into this place a very special one with her love, kindness, and compassion. I cannot thank her enough. She stops in every day to say hi and see how she's doing and if there's anything she needs. Steven, the owner, always comes by to say hi and gives her a big hug and kiss and makes her smile. He has gone above and beyond to make my mom feel welcomed and loved away from her home. He made sure her room had all the many requests she asked for and for that we are both so grateful. The many other staff that we are just getting to know from Camilla, Shamenie, Felicia, the med techs, all the wonderful aides that treat my mom with such respect, to George, Garmin, Nepal, Carlos and so many others we are just meeting, a big thank you to all! I cannot say enough about The New Homestead.I recommend it highly to anyone who wants their loved ones to get quality care. It's truly a place where people care and go above and beyond! My family & I were introduced to such great companion for my grandma’s who was able to help her stay connected to friends & active all of her interests. It has been the most beneficial connection for us. I can’t thank The New Homestead Home enough for the help that it has brought my family and grandma. We were lucky to be able to use her long term care insurance as well. Their owner of this association is always going above and beyond to help and answers any questions at any time day or night. I recently had the opportunity to visit this nursing home and was very impressed with the overall experience. The activities offered were very fitting for the residents and the staff made sure to keep everyone engaged and entertained. It was great to see that they also prioritize outdoor time, and the residents seemed to enjoy spending time in the fresh air. The outside porches were a particularly nice touch, providing a cozy and comfortable spot to relax. But what stood out the most to me was the kindness and professionalism of the staff. They were always ready to assist and showed genuine care for the residents. I also appreciated the easy-going and friendly atmosphere among the fellow residents, which made for a pleasant and welcoming community. Overall, I would highly recommend this nursing home for anyone looking for a caring and supportive environment.

Homestead is and continues to be an ideal place I would want to leave a loved one. The staff is amazing and is overly caring. They took such great care of my great grandmother she was able to come back home. Her room and herself were always kept clean. The facility itself is gorgeous in an amazing environment. Grandma loved playing Bingo with everyone. May God rest her soul. Thank you to Homestead for making her last moments a beautiful experience.

Just started my Mom here after my father passed and she could no longer care for herself. She has mild dementia. The rooms are kept immaculate. It is affordable and in a great neighborhood. Everytime I visit her she is fed, in clean clothes and being well taken care of. The staff is fantastic and always offering more personalized service than larger residences. I live in the community and visit the residents on a regular basis. From what I see and hear everyone enjoys the many daily activities. There's always something special scheduled each day; from wonderful music programs to creative arts and recreation. The staff is warm and caring and the facility has a very close knit family feel. The small size makes it a friendly, warm place where each resident gets attention and personalized care. I highly recommend.

The facility provides all the basics for those unable to live independently. The staff is caring and friendly. The residence is clean and well maintained. Rooms are fine. There is a full time activities person who keeps residents involved. There is live music on a weekly basis. Prices are reasonable and affordable given the high cost of assisted living in New York.
