Reviews The Bristal at Holtsville
July 2024
My experience with Bristal in Holtsville has been outstanding. Specifically Geri and Linda have brought a sense of comfort and professionalism that far exceeded my expectations and previous experience with other facilities. My husband who is in Memory care at The Bristal, is doing better than I ever anticipated possible. THANK YOU GERI AND LINDA
June 2024
My Mother was living on her own, caring for herself cooking for herself prior to January 2024. We had to decide where she should be when she was diagnosed with a bladder infection that affected her entire being. She started not remembering us and was unable to feed herself or drink her juice. She was in the hospital for 6 days on IV antibiotics and then transferred to a Rehab center which will remain nameless for reasons I wont get into.near where my Sister lives. I live out of state so does my brother and my other Brother is a snow bird retired half of the year and living in Florida This was a very difficult decision to say the least none of us wanted mom in a Nursing home. I spoke with Geri at great length she answered all of my questions patiently and sent me pictures of The Bristol at Holtsville, I was amazed at the cleanliness, friendliness and professionalism I saw and heard from my siblings. Linda is in charge of Memory care, she is a caring, kind person and visited my mom frequently, Mom even started to recognise Linda. I am amazed at the care of the staff especially Geri and Linda they run a good show and keep the employees in check. If something needs to be done stat. They will alert the staff I am very happy with our decision to place mom in Memory care at the Bristol, it was the right thing to do. I pray that recognition is given to Geri and Linda they both go above and beyond and mom is safe there. It makes me able to sleep at night to know they care for her like they would their own Mother. My mother has lived at The Bristol for almost 3 years now. The staff is kind and compassionate but there are some very special employees who stand out… Ozzy Izquierdo is one of them! Always cheerful, kind and willing to help! He is never too busy to lend a hand and fix any situation. One night my mothers room temp was way too hot and I found him as he was leaving, but he made sure before he left that he found a solution. And he did it all with a smile! His kindness has truly made a difference in how my mother feels living there.

My aunt is new to The Bristal this week, and we could not be more pleased. The facility is bright, cheery, immaculately clean, and offers a host of activities and amenities (movie theater, bingo room, heated pool, restaurant-grade dining room, and much more). Every member of staff we have encountered are upbeat and friendly. Geri provided our initial introduction to the facility, giving us a thorough tour and patiently answering our many (many!) questions. She is a gem, always available and, in concert with Christina, guided us through the process and worked tirelessly to facilitate the move to The Bristal. Geri, Christina, and Nady took a keen interest in my aunt's myriad needs and outlined a program of support that, in addition to all the lovely amenities, will enable my aunt to enjoy wellness and happiness. Her care is now under the guidance of Julie, who - working with Nady - keeps close tabs to ensure that my aunt is comfortable and well-cared for. I am confident we are in good hands. The aides - Maria V., Maria, and those whose names we have not yet learned - have been kind and patient. If you are considering assisted living for yourself or a loved one, be sure to take a tour at The Bristal of Holtsville.

Dear Bristal Assisted Living Corporation, I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for Osvaldo Izquierdo, your Director of Housekeeping, who is a tremendous asset and a remarkable brand ambassador for The Bristal Assisted Living organization. Our mom became a resident of the Bristal at Holtsville community in March of this year. The main reason for our 5 star review is due to Geri Dovi and The Wellness Center. From the first phone call to gather information to find a safe, happy, welcoming environment for our mom, to the tour, to the sitting down to signing the agreements, to her special tour before moving in and the move-in process and her welcome on move-in day Geri has been incredible. Her dedication to making sure our mom is comfortable and taken care of still continues to this day. She is constantly checking in on our mom and making sure her needs are met. We witness her doing this for every single resident, calling them by name. She is a shining representative of your organization and we are grateful for her efforts. The Wellness Center, lead by Nady Nelson, has been wonderful as well. They have worked cooperatively with us to ensure our mom's needs are met on many levels. The atmosphere is very welcoming from the minute you walk in the door. From the decor, to the friendly staff and beautiful little touches, it is very impressive. Thank you to the Bristal at Holtsville! Sincerely, The Ellner Family

From the moment we walked into the Bristal, everything had been smooth sailing. From the medical staff, to the greeter kris (who has been wonderful), down to the waiting staff…my loved one loves being here. We would recommend to anyone!

My parents have been living at the Bristal in Holtsville since June of 2019. The staff and management have been extremely helpful in supporting my parents in their golden years. From assistance with medications, physical therapy and special care needs they have created a safe and caring environment. The facility is very clean and staff go out of there way to be helpful. The restaurant offers a very large menu with daily specials and you can request just about anything. The senior staff have been fantastic in assisting my family with advice and support around healthcare, special needs, insurance support and other care for my parents. There is a wide range of activities on a daily basis, including day trips. Mostly making my parents feel safe, cared for and treated with respect and dignity. We are very pleased with the experience at the Bristal.

My mother has lived at this facility for about a year now. They have bent over backwards to accommodate her by bringing food to her room instead of going downstairs, they have allowed her to keep her tiny dog while she was there, they have tried their best to make her feel welcome. Though she may not be the perfect fit for this living situation, I appreciate how much they've tried to help her. The only thing I can possibly say might get less than 5 stars is the food in the dining hall because I went to eat with her there (they were super nice to let me eat with her). I would suggest that you go for a meal at dinner to decide for yourself, maybe it was just me and just an off night. I'd say that was a small thing compared to the kindness I witnessed from the staff and nurses while I was there towards our mother. I can't thank them enough for the peace of mind we have knowing that she's in a safe place.

Bless the caregivers at the Bristal of Holtsville. No matter what obstacles we face the staff is there, always, with willing hands to help. They are like family. They go above and beyond to support their residents and their family. Even through the hardest times I am confident that my loved one is treated with dignity, respect and LOVE. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi I met with Adam Walsh, director of community relations, today to gather information and view the community. It’s a beautiful place with a lot of activities to choose from. People in dining room looked happy and like they were enjoying their meals ( many choices). They have many different community rooms for activities- including a real bingo room with large light up board. Apartments were nicely designed. Staff appeared happy and like they enjoyed their work and worked well together. Adam was very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and transparent about fees and services. I have seen many communities on Long Island and I strongly recommend you take the time to visit here when finding a new home for your loved one(s).

Open letter to those seeking care at an assisted living facility. I must share my wife's as well as my own experience with the Bristol at Holtsville. It is natural that as anyone facing a sudden and dramatic change from a way of living that they have enjoyed their entire life to an uncertain future would be concerned, even fearful when they suddenly come to realize that all that has changed. The loss of ones freedom to come and go whenever or where ever they please, most likely on their own, has usually, quite suddenly, been taken away from them. There may be, quite naturally, a reluctance to enter into this "new world". I know it was for my wife. With reluctance, fear and resentment but unfortunately with no option she was forced to accept the situation. Admittedly it took a while for her to accept this new "environment" but with the caring and professionalism of the ENTIRE staff, from administration to housekeeping to maintenance, as well as the folks in their "wellness center" she came to not only accept the reality of her situation but to actually THRIVE in it. Even though she has lost the comfort and familiarity of her home I can honestly say that she is actually better off in her new environment. One may question why, how could that be? Let me explain the reasons. For one, since we could not afford a full time nurse, which she would have required , as "home health aids" are neither equipped nor allowed to administer the level of care my wife required she is now being cared for properly, under professional supervision. But even more than that, the environment at the faculty has eradicated her fears and concerns about living in this new environment. For several years, like many seniors, few people "came to visit" my wife and as her mobility declined her ability to socialize diminished and she became "lonely". The psychological burden of loneliness is difficult for those who are not in that position to appreciate and may be difficult for them to comprehend. At Bristol, although it did take two attempts, she has made friends, lots of them, and that is primarily what has actually made her life better. I would visit my wife on a weekly basis, probably not as often as she would like but being eighty years of age myself and running my own business that was the best I could do, yet quite incredibly staff members knew me and greeted me by name. At times I can't even remember why I entered the bathroom yet these folks at Bristol knew not only my name but they knew where my wife was whenever I arrived. I went to take my wife out for her birthday and the receptionist said, "you're a day early", which I was. Incredible that staff would know my wife's birthday, something that demonstrated the level of care being afforded my wife. Whenever I would visit I would see that the ENTIRE staff, from maintenance to supervision would greet her, talk to her, as he would to them. SHE HAD FRIENDS, SHE HAD COMPANY, SHE HAD COMPANIONSHIP. Few things in life could be more important than that and the staff at Bristol has provided all that and more. Although it was a struggle for a few months in the beginning my wife is enjoying a safe and satisfying life, something I sincerely doubt she could have had had she remained in her home. Additionally the burden of her care has been largely lifted from my shoulders as I am sure that she is getting better care and a better life than I could have provided her on my own. It may be difficult at first but given a chance it will prove the very best solution to the inevitable effects of the passing of time. Don Sterling

The Bristal in Holtsville has been amazing. My family and I are so happy with the staff, nurses, wellness team and administration. They have all welcomed my father in law with open arms. ❤ Moving a loved one to their new home is so stressful however working with Sara Huenke, Nadi Nelson, Latavia , Julie and Shalini has helped me navigate through this overwhelming process and made it as easy as possible. These ladies literally made what we thought would be impossible, possible. With their help they made my father in laws wish become a reality. A special thanks to Sara and Nadi who were beyond patient with me and so caring. I drove them CRAZY with all of my questions and request which they handled professionally and with grace. In no time at all, they pointed us to the specific options relevant to our situation, took care of all of the details, and moved my father in law in at lightening speed. The Bristal in Holtsville has taken my father in law as if he were one of their own family members and provides him with the care and attention he needs to successful get through the day. The facility is immaculate, the rooms are spacious and include a kitchenette and the food is absolutely delicious. They have a movie theatre, professional bingo room, a beautiful arts and craft room and several other spaces were the community can enjoy themselves. What I noticed here at this location was the smiles on the residents faces and the variety of activities they offer on a daily basis. This facility is a cruise ship on land. If your looking for an assisted living that truly cares about their residents and continue to strive for excellence then this is the place for you. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

EVERYONE has been awesome. The attentive and super friendly staff have made this transition for my mom seemless. After a year of Covid isolation, it is so nice to see her smile and enjoy life again. Thank you Bristal family

It is a blessing to know that my mother is being taken care of with dignity and gentleness. I found her room (when I visited unannounced) to be clean and organized as if I had taken care of her myself. At the Bristal you will find a care team that works with you and for you and your loved one.
June 2021
My mother in law has been there almost 4 years. Im writing this review after seeing the one below about residents being beat. No such thing! This Bristal went above and beyond during covid with next to no cases that effected the residents. Safety measures coming and going are always enforced. My mother in law is very happy and safe there. She loves the amenities and the staff gives their best. The people there are a second family. There are always areas of management that can be improved as people come and go but this Bristal has been a godsend for us.

It is my pleasure to write about the incredible care that my Mom has received at The Bristal in Holtsville. My Mom has been residing in the Reflections Unit (Mom suffers from Alzheimers ) for the last two years. The staff is warm, professional and caring. I have visited regularly (before the Pandemic) and at every visit I have witnessed the staff assist the residents with kindness and professionalism while performing difficult work. The Administration will contact me in the event Mom has fallen or have any type of incident. An example of the staff going the extra mile was recently when visiting had been stopped due to the virus and it was my Moms 90th birthday. I called to ask about dropping off a cake for Mom (which I was able to do) and the staff put together a birthday party in the Unit and sent me pictures of the party. It was a very kind act.I absolutely recommend The Bristal for those that need Assisted Living or Dementia care for a relative.Bernard Graham

When it became obvious that my dad needed more help than I could give, my search began for the right facility for him. I went and toured numerous places but the Bristal was in a league all by itself. The staff is amazing and were so helpful with the transition. They think of every little detail. My dad refers to the Bristal as Park Avenue. He is so happy there and thats what put my fears at ease. Thank you Bristal for being so wonderful

My Mom lived at the Bristal for two years. She immediately became involved in their activities. Often, she would enjoy musical shows, group activities and dining experiences. She even took the Bristal bus to Church and on picnics. Sadly, she became ill. As s family, we had to make quick decisions. The Bristal staff, especially the nurses were supportive and caring. Mom stayed at the Bristal with hospice and aides at her side. They supported my Mom and our family with the utmost compassion and professionalism. We are truly grateful to all.
