If you're on Medicaid and you live in Elmira, AND if you need any kind of mental health help, you won't get anywhere with Arnot Health. You're stuck with Family Services, where it's hit or miss. I like my counselor, but I know some people who aren't real happy with the place. Nevertheless as a not-for-profit, they do the best they can. Update 8/2025 Give Family Services a try. They have people who really do care about you, and it can be a lifesaver. Arnot Behavioral Health has gotten better with many added doctors. If you're on a wait list HANG IN THERE.

I was very impressed with the staff here at Family Services. The counselor I spoke to... had knowledge on a lot of different resources that will help me get on my feet since I recently moved here. The waiting area is very neat and clean. It is also very large and it is not difficult to keep your distance from other others. Thank you to all the staff for being so kind & helpful!

Helpful, honest. Sometimes the wait to be seen can be longer than expected. Im new here going on my 4th visit but so far the experience has been very good . Everyone seems very friendly and try to make you feel comfortable. I will add to this review as more time passes. I personally don't have much patience, and I don't tolerate rude or judgemental people. With that said I would recommend this place to others.
