A wonderful place to be at. The staff are all friendly, the meals are great, and I wish I could be there.

Now that my dad has been at this facility for about a year and a half, I feel like I can write a legit review. Is it the taj mahal? No. Would I live there if I needed a safe, affordable place where there were people who give a darn keeping an eye on me? Absolutely! My wife and I routinely comment to one another that when it comes time, we could definitely live at The Fountains. They handle the small stuff like setting off the smoke alarm from an un-monitored toaster without a fuss, but do not hesistate to call me with significant things like having to call 911 for an emergency, being out of a medication or supplement they hand him or any other noteworthy concerns. The staff seems to have a very good level of judgment when it comes to alerting me or not. I have to question the negative reviews about "medication administration" and letting a resident sit in peed pants because I don't think those things quite fit with this facility's level of care. This is not a nursing home. It is an assisted living facility with some ad-on levels of assistance. True "medication administration" is something that requires a licensed nurse. Handing someone his or her medications and keeping track of whether or not they take them, on the other hand, can be supremely valuable but is not "medication administration" as I understand it. I also don't think that the changing clothes and depends, etc. falls under assisted living. I may be wrong, but I think that these examples of needed care go beyond "assisted living." Other noteworthy observations and experiences: My wife and I visit once a month minimum on average and the other residents are routinely happy and friendly - this means as much as any other metric in my opinion. They have a ton of activities that we don't just see on the "activites calendar" but get exposed to (and often invited to) in person. When my dad went around the corner to get some sushi and had his walker stolen (he left it outside - he is 80+ with Parkinson's, so his judgement isn't always the best,) The Fountains sent one of their young, able-bodied kitchen staff over to get him back home! That was above, and beyond, and they didn't even mention that when they let me know his walker was stolen. They also had a loaner on hand until I was able to get him a replacement. I could detail numerous other occaisions of awesome, good old fashioned caring treatment of my dad, but this incident stands out. All in all, if you do your homework and understand what "assisted living" means AND your loved one does not require a higher level of care, I do not believe you can find better in the general Reno/Sparks area. These people actually do care about the folks that live in their facility.

I just called the young lady who is in charge of the activities at The Fountains (and probably does a lot of OTHER things, too) to tell her how much I had appreciated doing Christmas music with her and with the residents December of 2018. I could tell she actually cared for those people and it showed. We sang together and got the 'audience' to sing, too, which they did - especially when letting them select the next song. Maya - you are amazing! The owner and residents are blessed to have you there.
