Mom moved into the assisted living portion in December 2021. We visit almost every day so have gotten to know the staff and day-to-day energy well. First let’s get the bad out of the way - the food is not very good. At mom’s former assisted living situation (on the east coast), the food and food service was so good it became a social lynchpin for the residents. Three stars. Also, the apartments are dated. For someone wheelchair bound, narrow doorways make navigation around the apartment difficult and the kitchen is largely unusable because of the narrow entrance. Two stars. Now the good, which in our opinion, far outweighs the food and apartment issues. The care staff is really amazing. Responsive, compassionate, they work as a team, work closely with mom’s primary care physician (who visits almost weekly). We've made numerous special requests to help mom’s transition and each time they’ve agreed and followed through. For example, we asked if it would be possible to have some grief counseling and within two weeks, Brookdale Santa Fe organized a weekly group session with a wonderful counselor. Five stars. We have also found “corporate” Brookdale very easy to work with. For example, mom loves our dog but since COVID there was a blanket no dog policy in effect. At the suggestion of the front desk staff, we called corporate and they were very happy to make a compassionate exception and we can now bring our dog in the interest of helping mom transition. Five stars. Net: net - many facilities say they treat each resident as an individual but we can say that Brookdale Santa Fe really follows through on that promise where it counts the most.

My mother has been at Brookdale for a year and a half and it has been a great experience overall. Its not perfect but the caring of the staff outweighs any issues we have had. They are responsive and have true affection and concern for the residents. I dont think its an easy business to be in but they try to keep their residents happy and comfortable, despite all the difficulties of aging.

A close friend of mine has been living at Brookdale for over a year and he seems to be doing very well. I go visited him at least once a week I enjoy the meals they serve and also have daily activities to keep each individual motivated.

It's such a warm and inviting environment staff is nice with smiles on their faces, the good is excellent the Residents that live there are really lucky to have such a large assortment of great dishes to choose from in a daily basis how can one ever get tired of there meals and their desserts!

I recently went on a visit to Brookdale Santa Fe and was amazed at the outgoing staff and sweet residents. Everyone was warm and welcoming with lots of charm. The outdoor gardens are beautiful and the roses are every shade. Who could imagine there is even a Koi pond! Programming galore for everyone. Looks like never a dull moment.

Recently I had the opportunity to meet some of the staff at Brookdale, have lunch there, and have a tour. WOW! what a property. The courtyard/garden is magnificent. Great place to relax. The food was nourishing and delicious. Lots of community spaces for people to get together, play cards or bingo and do arts and crafts. And very conveniently located near Trader Joes....I'm not looking forward to having to move into a senior living center some day, but if i do, this is a wonderful place.

The Sunday buffet is outstanding with many options comprable to the hotels here in Santa Fe. Always pleasant staff ready to serve. The residents really enjoy Chef Felix preparing their omelettes on Sundays!
