I first talked to Rachel at Goodlife in August 2018. Both my parents were suffering from dementia and were steadily declining. My husband and I were at the end of our rope. They needed 24 hour care. I talked to Rachel, who managed the facility. Both my parents went in September 15, 2018. I visited them often and I always found my parents clean, fed and receiving all their medications. I was notified immediately of any health issues, but more importantly when I would visit I would see them loved. Many times I would find Rachel there sitting with the residents laughing with them or just holding their hands comforting them. Its not all sweet tender moments either; the seniors there can sometimes get very angry and frustrated because of their dementia and I have seen the staff there with the patience of Job keeping them calm and diffusing those moments. My Dad passed in November 2018 and my mom more recently April 2020. Unfortunately because of Covid , I could not be with my mom, but I felt better knowing that when she passed that there were people that she loved and that loved her by her side. I am sorry to say I hear that Rachel has left, so I sincerely hope that they can continue to give the good care and love that I have always seen there.

Caring

Relative Of Resident

One must draw a distinction between a nursing home and assisted living/memory care. Good Life IS NOT a nursing home. My late spouse was a resident in the Alzheimer's unit. Yes, sometimes residents are "just milling around." Constant activities are not conducive to keeping dementia patients calm. Residents visit one another, watch TV, wait for visitors and mealtimes in the common area. On-duty staff sometimes must give in-room care to a resident with ADL needs and that is why a visitor might not see them. Facility is clean, food is good, large rooms/private bathrooms, caregivers and staff are attentive to needs of residents, and families are always welcome regardless of time of day.

Caring

Visitor

Good Life has a locked down kind of facility aside their regular facility. It just looked a little bit scary as there’s people wandering around aimlessly, so I didn’t like that at all. I didn’t see any staff in there. When I finally saw someone, she said there weren't any openings -- which was a relief. There weren’t empty rooms to look at, and there were no activities going on during the time I was there.
