My mother has been in The Tapestry unit at The Shores for the past 6 years, she turned 90 this year. The Director and her wonderful staff are so compassionate, well trained in dealing with people with dementia, they treat her like family. They play games, do crafts, sing a longs, exercise. The entire building is very clean and friendly from the moment you walk in the front door. As my mom’s sister tells me, “you gave your mother her life back,” by putting her at The Shores. It’s a good feeling knowing she is safe and well cared for and happy.

My husband and I are thrilled with The Shores. My mother-in-law is currently a resident in the tapestry unit for memory impaired. My mom was also a resident there about 10 years ago. Many of the same staff members who cared for my mom are still there and give my mother-in-law the same love and kindness all these years later. Excellent care, safe environment, daily activities, delicious meals in a homey atmosphere make our family feel comfortable having our mom here. Staff is always available and open to phone calls, meetings or to help out in any way. They feel like family to us. We feel blessed after a day out with us, Mom is always happy to get back to her comfy little apartment at the Shores.

My mother recently broke her hip and could no longer care for herself. After much thought I decided to visit UMC at the Shores. I was hesitant and had visions of placing my mother in a place that no one cared about her. With some reservations I made an appointment to meet with Trina to discuss my mothers condition and tour the facility. After the tour and upon speaking with Trina I felt at ease placing my mother there. Everyone I met and came in contact with could not have been nicer. After some thought I decided that this was the best-safest place for her. My mother has been there for 2 weeks and I am so glad that we made the decision to have her live there. Everyone is helpful and most of all she likes it.Thank you to Trina, Heather, Michele and the nurses who care for my mom. You all made my decision a little easier and we are thankful for all your help. Dave Deaner

I loved my experience with the Shores. My dad was very happy there and the staff were wonderful. They were very quick to attend to his needs. They were very pleasant, always addressed him by name and went out of their way to make him welcome and comfortable.

My Mother has been a resident at UMC, The Shores for the past twelve years. It has been one of the most successful and fulfilling moves in her life. She has been able to maintain her connections with her family, existing friends and most importantly she has made critically important new friends. She has been able to build on her Catholic background by getting involved in the Methodist and other denominational services. The staff at The Shores simply could not do a better job. While my Mother has built great relationships with all of the staff, it is equally important to note that her daughter and son's have really enjoyed getting to know the support staff. I have nothing but good things to say about The Shores, it is very clean, the food is great! But most important the staff is the best, it starts as soon as you walk in the front door with the receptionist staff. My mother has dementia and has been in memory support for almost two years and she loves it there and thats all that matters. And believe me if something wasnt right I would be the first to hear about it from her. Of course, her dementia is not better, but socially she is happy, they do crafts, bingo, exercise and all that is because of the staffs care. I cant thank you enough for giving my Mother her life back again.

I LOVE The Shores! Our Mom has dementia n she is loved n taken care of 24/7!. ALL of the staff are trained in geriatric elderly care on a regular basis. It's very clean n beautifully decorated feels welcoming! Pam Garafolo has taught us ways to effectively deal with crisis when they arise. Pam treats each of the clients with love n respect! Thank you Pam n the wonderful staff!

As an employee of The Shores for many years and knowing the wonderful care offered here, when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease, I knew I would move her to the Shores Memory Care neighborhood once she could no longer live home alone. There was never any doubt in my mind that it was the best place for her and I saw her every day while she lived here. My mother passed away a few years ago now but the memories of my time with her have not. The staff was amazing and I felt blessed that she was not only provided with personal attention to her care needs, but was LOVED by the staff as well. As her daughter, I cannot express enough the gratitude in my heart for the kindness, love and humor (along with excellent care) bestowed on her during her time at The Shores. I was so grateful that I was able to have been with my mother while she was passing, that she was in her home in her apartment with her family and her familiar surroundings instead of having to move to Healthcare. It is so great to work for a company that places such high value on resident and family relationships. Now with Bridges hospice and palliative care neighborhood, more people will be able to have the intimate, loving experience I had with my mom. I would highly recommend The Shores to anyone thinking of moving in themselves or to family members considering a wonderful community for their relative. Worries are left behind and time is spent enjoying life through cultural and religious activities, food, friends, as well as an active lifestyle supported by fitness training classes of all levels. The Shores staff is compassionate, loving, knowledgeable, and dedicated. I will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a wonderful place to live and be cared for.

We couldn't have asked for a better place for my elderly, blind, wheelchair bound brother. At 81, he needed 24/7 care. After being in two other unsatisfactory places, we found a place or him on the medically needy floor. After being there for several months, he told me "This is the best place for me." He loved the food. I tasted it many times and found it to be tasty and nutritious. He medical care was excellent. He had a good attitude and treated everyone politely and respectfully, and everyone treated him kindly and with respect. My sister and I visited regularly (4 to 5 times a week) at different times of the day and always found the place to be clean and orderly. My brother was always clean and dressed. We observed the same care for others.
