The Actors Fund Home is a great place. My mom was here for several weeks and she received the best care. The staff is caring and very helpful. The best decision we made was sending her here for rehab. A special thank you to January Young (food services), nurses Tracey and Martha, aides Marleney and Maria and the physical therapists. Everyone was very attentive to her needs and she received the best care. THANK YOU!!!!

What can I say other than we are forever grateful to the The Entertainment Community Fund, Jordan Strohl, and everyone at The Actor's Fund Home. We were at a loss. Attempt after failed attempt at getting my wife's mother the help and care she so needed. We had been told for about 3 years that she could no longer live on her own and needed full time in home care or to be in a facility. My wife and I are in the entertainment industry. We have worked on Broadway, TV, and Film for about 25 years. That being said we are not wealthy nor come from wealth. We have two small children and live in a small 2 bedroom apartment in the city. We could not afford all of the care her mother needed but we were about to take it on because we had no options. By some grace of the universe we did a short lived new Broadway show and by chance met the head of The Entertainment Community Fund. I spoke with Barbara Davis about what my mother in-law needed and how we had hit so many dead ends. We had no way of supporting her and our two small children. It would financially cripple us. She told us about The Actor's Fund Home in NJ and we communicated we tried that avenue but were met with little hope there from others we knew affiliated with the home. She then instructed us to contact Jordan Strohl and that they together would do everything in their power to help us. THEY DID! Jordan gave us all the resources and essentially moved mountains for us!! My Mother in Law was approved for Medicaid in a very short time. MIRACLE! She is now on Medicaid and in the nursing home wing of The Actor's Fund Home receiving the full time help and care she most certainly needed. The home exceeds all standards. It is immaculately maintained and nurses and aides are kind and helpful. We have no words for how incredibly generous Jordan, Barbara, The Entertainment Community Fund, and The Actor's Fund Home have been to our family. After struggling for so long... knowing what we needed but couldn't do alone we were fatefully connected with these people through a passion project. I guess that's kismet. Thank you is not enough but we are truly forever grateful! The McFadden- Herrera family.

This is a TRULY special institution. My father was at another nursing home for rehab after a hospital stay, and I felt I had to give up my work in order to show up every day to make sure he was treated properly. (Some of THAT staff were just - employees. Just collecting a paycheck, longing to leave, rude to me and to him.) Dad is brilliant and shy and sensitive and was in a lot of pain. Then he moved back home, was incapable of living at home alone (managed long term care at home via Medicaid and run by private insurance companies is a joke - they would not provide 24hr care), SO - thank GOD I was able to get him admitted to the nursing home section of the Actors Fund Home. Then - all our lives changed for the better! FINALLY, he is SAFE and getting the care he needs from compassionate people who treat him like family, 24 hrs a day. What more can you ask for? That's the MAJOR difference between Actors Fund Home and all the other nursing homes I have visited or toured: the STAFF. Jordan Strohl obviously chooses his staff VERY carefully. My dad is SO sensitive, and frequently in pain, but he has all his mental marbles and he can tell me everything that goes on when I'm not there. At first I watched over him like a hawk, coming almost every day, but now I feel like I can get back to work and parenting and visit a bit less frequently. Dad has genuinely come to LOVE a couple of his aides (Jenny and Ethiopia in particular!) and all the nurses and other aides feel like great pals. What more can you ask for? The nursing staff is INCREDIBLE. They work SO hard and somehow they maintain loving, friendly personalities, even when presented with impossible demands and pressure from residents. They keep their cool, no matter what. I feel Dad is safe thanks to them. The physical therapy department is excellent, with cheerful, motivating personalities. The social workers, Nick and Elisa, love their jobs and respond to all my emails or requests immediately and respectfully. They are deeply compassionate and never make me feel like I'm a bother. Even the front desk ladies welcome me enthusiastically every time I visit. The kitchen staff, cleaning staff - everyone seems to have integrity. Dad's quality of life has been raised, and so has mine. I no longer have to live in panic about how my dad may be feeling. I don't understand the negative reviews - of COURSE a nursing home staff is busy, but you really CANNOT get better care than what these people are bending over backwards every day to provide. The staff actually WANT to be there, they LIKE their jobs. Dad, totally disabled, doesn't feel like a burden to me or to the staff. He isn't embarrassed; he can relax. The BONUS is they have frequent, incredible visitors from the entertainment industry (like Alan Menken, for example!) to perform and chat and just enrich everyone's lives. My 11 year-old actually loves visiting; it's not a chore. She adores her grandfather but she enjoys socializing with the staff, too. And she plays on the beautiful grounds. As professional actors ourselves, my husband and I have told our daughter that this is the place she is to move us into whenever we need care! Hopefully that's years away, but we will NOT be sad about moving here, if/when the time comes.

My very dear friend, a retired Broadway dancer, had a mild stroke and we found that he could no longer live on his own. After a horrible experience in a Manhattan rehabilitation facility, we applied to the Actors Fund Home. We were absolutely amazed by the care and caring of everyone there. Unfortunately he only got to experience the short term rehab facilities because he got Covid and was in and out of the hospital until he passed. Jordan Strohl was our first contact and guided us through the initial process. He is so personable and makes you really feel at ease. Yes he is also fun to work with. Kathleen OLeary is the head social worker and Stephanie Kasner was his social worker in the rehabilitation section. I cannot express how grateful we were to experience this level of caring and an unbelievable ease of communication. While Jimmy was in the hospital he only wanted to get well enough to get back to AFH. To feel comfortable and well liked in a strange place so quickly is of major importance. Thank you Actors Fund Home!

All of the staff were kind and friendly. My mom was there about 10days recovering from "double pneumonia" and had great care. Their COVD protocols were strict and I appreciated that. The PT and OT were approachable and tailored my moms care to her needs. They always answered the phone and communicated with a care plan at her initial visit. Great job!

My 94 year old mom was transferred to the rehab center of the Actors Fund Home from NYU Langone Health after surgeries about a month ago. She received excellent medical and personal care from the well-trained nursing staff. The food service was great as they were able to tailor the food to my mom's medical needs. The facility strictly observed Covid protection procedure. It may seem harsh with the 14 days quarantine requirements but the facilities' recreation staff went into my mom's room to provide personal daily activities. My mom has remained Covid free, then and now. The facility was even able to get her the Covid vaccine while she was there which is a miracle since I couldn't get her to do it on my own. My mom was also able to enjoy the tranquil garden in front of the facilities. My mom went home after about 3 weeks of stay.

IMPECCABLE SERVICE- My mother was recently sent to this facility and our family was amazed at the high level of individualized care along with the responsiveness and communication with our family. Due to COVID, there were restrictions, however the staff ensured we were able to see our mom and have frequent zoom meets updating us on her condition and care plan. My mom frequently expressed to us how responsive and attentive the nursing staff was and her individual care nurses- Maritza, Julie and Eleanor. Also, the social workers Stephanie and Kristen provided our family with the necessary information and resources so that we were able to bring her home with gained independence. Thank you, all!! During this time of COVID this was a true blessing to be at peace with our mothers care! Thank you

My Mom was there for 22days. She said the facility was spotless and it was beautiful. She loved the grounds. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 her family was not able to see the facility. But most importantly was the type of care she received. Mom says that everyone she came in contact with was friendly and helpful. She says they treated her with care. She could not stop raving about the care she received and the wonderful staff. I would highly recommend this facility.

This is an amazing place for rehabilitation! My husband had two surgeries this winter and, after both, he went to the Actor's Fund Home for rehabilitation. The administration is caring, responsive and helpful. The nurses are prompt, attentive and kind. The cleaning staff keeps things immaculate. And on top of it all, there are performers and movies for entertainment! How fortunate we were to find Actor's Fund Home to care for my husband during this important period in his life! .

My husband is at The Actors Fund Home and the Staff is qualified in everything they do, they go out of their way to make my husband feel comfortable. The Rehab Staff are Great in getting my husband ready to come home.

The staff at The Actors Fund Home are compassionate and caring and the new buildings are beautiful. When my 93 year old aunt lived at The Home, she enjoyed the food and the daily activities, but most of all, the nursing assistants knew exactly what she needed to make her happy. I am so thankful that she was in the best nursing home around!

I know from personal experience that this is an excellent facility with a caring staff in a clean and supportive environment.

My mom received great care at this facility. The aides and RN's were very compassionate and attentive. The rehab was second to none. The administrative staff helped me with all the appointments for my mom, coordinating transportation and getting her home with the necessary help and agencies. It's a small facility so you will get to know residents, nursing and admin staff and social workers.

Extremely warm and loving environment. This nursing home breathes friendliness and warmth; the nurses walk the perfect balance between professionalism and personalism.
February 2020
Although the food was very good. It was nothing compared to the pleasantness and the helpfulness of the staff. All who were involved were very professional and a pleasure to work with.

I love these people. Period. I have been to many nursing facilities, and the staff at AFH puts them all to shame. My mother spent the last three years of her life there and told me often that she felt like she was on vacation. This group has a special place in my heart, and it's a joy to visit and volunteer there.
