The Sunrise was so inviting I wanted to sit right down with some tea and read a book. Sarah, who gave the tour, was so sweet and lovely. If you are looking for a place that feels like home, this is it. Don't forget to snuggle with the house cat on your way out!

This is a great place for a family member that cannot live alone and would like a homey, comfortable and lovely place to live. Nice rooms, love the new décor and an amazing staff. Food maybe needs some improvement - but hey . . . we all need to eat less as we age!

My mother joined the community 1.5 years ago. The entire staff welcomed her to her new family, made her comfortable, and provided her with the secure and compassionate environment she deserves. They were there for her when her sister passed on last year, and when COVID first arrived this year and steadily since then, encouraging her and keeping her spirits high throughout these challenging times. Her experience at Sunrise of Edgewater brings me great comfort and peace of mind being that I live a 4-hour plane ride away. My mom celebrated her 95th birthday at Sunrise this year; Im looking forward to many more.

My Mom has been living in the Sunrise of Edgewater Reminiscence 3 rd floor for a year and a half. I would visit her several times a week before Covid lockdown. I enjoyed it so much. Its such a beautiful and clean facility. Sarah the Director is wonderful and the staff , care managers, dining room staff, concierges and sales staff have helped me and my Mom immensely. Through trial and error of other assisted living, nursing facilities that paled in comparison to Sunrise of Edgewater, we made our way to a wonderful, cosy home for my Mom. She is so happy here and I look forward to the day that we have a vaccine for Covid and can once again visit indoors.In the meantime since my Mom resists going outdoors ,the care managers have us scheduled for FaceTime twice a week and I can communicate with my Mom and see how she is getting along. I Love this facility... everyone who works there is professional, friendly and extremely dedicated to the well being of our loved ones. Anyone who disagrees has not had experience in other facilities. This was by far the absolute best recommendation that my family received from Jean at A Place for Mom ! I would recommend Sunrise of Edgewater to all families looking for a small and personal , cosy home for their loved one with excellent care!

My husbands grandfather spent his last years here at the Sunrise in Edgewater. He was always treated with respect and encouraged to engage in the community. He was able to live with dignity through to the end because of the care he received. My family is very thankful for Sunrise.

I moved my Mom into Sunrise of Edgewater a few months ago and cannot begin to tell you what a positive experience it has been. The staff there have all been so caring and attentive to my mother and all of her needs. The assisted living coordinator even called me after her first night to tell me how my mother was doing and that she was already making friends and participating in the activities. The nurse is in regular communication with us as well. The one thing I was nervous about was the food because my mother loves my home cooking .but she is eating everything and especially raves about the homemade soups! Sometimes I even eat with her! When I walk in there I am confident that I made the right choice for my mother and for my family. Thank you Sunrise of Edgewater!

The entire experience at Sunrise Edgewater - facility and staff is THE BEST. My Dad moved into Sunrise Edgewater in August 2017. He feels so at home-the staff is like his family....and the staff feels the same way about him. There are daily activities -seven days a week. The lounge area with fireplace is a very tranquil area and the big screen TV provides residence a public forum to watch news, movies and sports... and the food is very good. This is the most caring group of individuals - sincere and passionate about what they do. The facility is impeccably clean-smells nice and very nicely decorated and organized. It is no wonder rent/rooms are in very limited availability-no one wants to leave! If you are considering an assisted living facility for a loved one I highly recommend Sunrise.(I will assume that the level of care and amenities at Sunrise Edgewater is consistent throughout the Sunrise network)

My grandmother was in the Memory Care unit (3rd floor), and when I visited her in January, she was asleep in her wheelchair. She tried to wake up to talk to me, and have lunch, but kept saying she couldnt open her eyes. The caregiver said she probably didnt sleep well the previous night. However, I later found out (from my mom who spoke to the director) that she had been sedated. I was surprised that her caregiver did not know this. During our lunch, my grandmother was able to communicate to me pain from a fall. When I informed the caregivers that sitting was giving her pain in her hip-pelvic area, they just gave her a Tylenol. I was surprised that they did not attempt to make her more comfortable in her wheelchair, or look into the source of the pain further. There was also an awkward moment at lunch. After we were seated in the family dining room, another family arrived that apparently had reserved that table. However, there was no other space in the main dining area to seat me and my grandmother. The other family was very accommodating, and decided to sit outside the dining area - but it seemed like another example of poor communication, planning, or maybe Sunrise of Edgewater can only accommodate one visiting family for lunch at a time? A few other issues: It seemed she had run out of gloves for the caregivers before the day I visited (slowing down the process for assistance) and no one had informed us. Also, there are no mechanisms in place for things like preventing the loss of hearing aids. Its a lovely looking place. But the issues with communication and follow-through became increasingly apparent as my grandmothers condition worsened. However the additional stars are because the caregivers seemed caring and better than some other places we had visited.

I was very impressed with the care and attention my mother got at Sunrise in Edgewater. The people who work there are very warm and caring. The place is spotless. There's a nice selection of activities, and a great porch where my mom and I could sit and talk. I felt my mom was safe and in good hands!
