We toured this facility as a place for my father to go for respite if his facility was not able to take him. This facility is beautiful, the rooms are nice with a secured window and a private bathroom which includes a walk in shower, also has a mini fridge. Beautiful outdoor areas to sit and roam around which is also secured. There are many things to do here and plenty of space to do it. Everyone was very friendly and the facility was spotless. With nurses and aides all around. We need a memory care unit, so this place will be perfect when needed.

I am so thankful that a Care Coordinator in Riverview recently told me about Artis. My mother, who has memory issues was living in a different facility in Middletown and I was so unhappy with their care. I was paying extra for many services they were not providing. So many people told me that's just the way it is in so many facilities in the area. My mother didn't participate in activities and they didn't do much to get her involved. I brought her to Artis over a month ago and her life has completely changed. She is busy in activities from 10am to 5pm everyday of the week. She has friends. She tells me everyday that she really likes it there and everyone is so kind to her. I'm amazed by the huge difference in the care level between where she was and what they do at Artis. When I visit I watch how kind all of the staff are to each resident. They know everyone by name and what their special issues and needs are. The staff has been so well chosen in that they really treat the residents like they would a beloved family member. I can't recommend them more highly!

In the short time that she has been at the Eatontown location she has demonstrated that she is passionate about her work at the home. The facilities are top-notch, meticulously maintained, and the nurses and aides exhibit genuine care and compassion towards the residents. Managing a family member with memory issues can be challenging, but the Management Team has created a warm, safe, and inviting "home" for our loved one to thrive. The atmosphere encourages but never pushes, allowing residents to live their lives comfortably. The food is excellent, and there are always engaging activities available. The facility is designed for residents to safely roam both indoors and outdoors, fostering freedom and safety. While the staff are exceptional and always ready for a chat, it is the residents who truly create a loving environment, often seen helping each other and sharing laughs. Thanksgiving is a holiday that makes us stop and think of all our Blessings. Although my family recently lost our Mom this past February 2023, and our Dad became ill the next day after her passing, we consider ourselves lucky since our Dad has moved into the Artis community; April 2023. We'd particularly like to mention three staff members that our family has become very comfortable with; who we will be forever grateful and thankful for. Specifically, Ms. Bertha Dorcius and Mr. Arsene Shephond have gone above and beyond regarding the care of our father, Andrew Sala. Bertha regularly checks in on my Dad and all the residents in her area and makes sure they're comfortable and if they're in need of anything. Ms. Dorcius is strong and consistent with handling Dad including: washing, dressing, encouraging him to socialize, and notices if he's eating enough; there's also flexibility in terms of completing daily activities, given that Dad is a human who has ups and downs like all of us. Arsene is also quite competent with getting my Dad to cooperate with him; something that his family couldn't do too easily. We especially appreciate that he shaves my Dad regularly, which my Dad has lost the ability to do; and used to take great pride in doing himself. Dad's clothes are well taken care of by Mr. Shephond; and efforts are made to vary Dad's clothing daily. Dad always looks great, which is a big change from when he was home with assistance from home care and family. Arsene's quiet, yet strong persona, makes our family feel secure that our Dad is in good hands. Finally, we'd like to mention Ms. Maria Chiaramonte, who often greets us as we enter Artis. Maria knows us by name and genuinely seems to care about how we're doing. The recognition, pleasantries, and positiveness as we come into Artis is greatly appreciated. Of course, many other Artis staff have touched my Dad and our family in a loving and caring manner, known and unknown; for these staff members, we are grateful and humbled by such wonderful caring staff. The staff at Artis of Eatontown are some of the most incredible people I know. I had previously posted a review discussing how different the experience at Artis has been versus another facility that my mom was in. I won't get into those details again, but now that she has been there for seven months, I thought I would update my review. From the moment you walk into Artis, you are greeted by the smiling office staff. I am especially delighted when I get to see Mary, Deena, and Krista as the three of them are easy to talk to and I often spend a couple of extra minutes chatting with them before going back to see my mom. Seeing their smiling faces upon arrival is always a highlight for me. Sometimes, it is tough to go and see a loved one in a facility, but whenever I arrive at Artis I am reminded that my mom is in the best possible hands - this experience begins with the front office staff. After I go through the locked door to the other side of the community where the residents live, I am greeted by the nursing staff and care partners. I will usually see Carol, Kara, Gisela and sometimes Jeff if I am there later in the day. Each of them has greeted me with a smile every time and they each know me by name at this point. I enjoy taking a couple of minutes to chat with them about my mom and other things when I come to visit. The nursing staff and care partners go above and beyond to ensure that my mom is happy, comfortable, and healthy. Whenever I come to visit, my mom is bathed and is wearing appropriate clothing. This, obviously, can be very challenging when someone has dementia. Gisela, my mom's care partner, always ensures that my mom is clean, dressed, and her hair is done before we go out. Every single time I see her, she has a smile on her face and is doing the best she can for the residents. She really is one of a kind. The maintenance staff, specifically Olga and Tom, keep the place in pristine condition. Every time I come to visit, which is one to two times a week, I see Olga cleaning. My mom's room has always been spotless every single time I've been there. This is not an exaggeration at all. The facility is meticulously clean. You will never smell unpleasant odors when walking the halls at Artis. They work very hard to ensure that the facility is in pristine condition. My mom has gained several pounds since she has moved into Artis, thanks, of course, to the incredible chefs in the kitchen. She arrived at Artis very thin because she could not cook food on her own, the kitchen staff ensures that my mother eats well every day…Lisa loves to eat! I can't imagine how tough/sad it must be to go to work every day in a facility with people with dementia. The staff at Artis, from the front door, the nurses and care partners, to the maintenance and kitchen staff, are literally some of the kindest people I have ever met. I feel lucky that I was able to find this place for my mom, as they take care of her better than I ever could. My mom has told me several times that she considers the staff at Artis to be family. She is right, they are family, and I could not be more thankful that my mom is in their capable hands.

Very satisfied. Mom 96 y/o Artis keeps her v busy and v social. She v happy here. UPDATE: Mom is now 97 and continues to enjoy her days at Artis! The staff is super friendly and helpful from the reception area to the nurse, Julie, who knows everything going on with mom's health and overall well-being. Gisela, Care Manager can be seen providing support & comfort as well as physical assistance to residents while encouraging them to participate in activities. Nancy, Activities Director, goes the extra mile to provide entertaining, fun, challenging, and engaging activities! Families receive a weekly calendar of events so visitors can schedule accordingly and maybe even participate. Nancy is assisted by Chitl or Caroline who are always cheerful and friendly. Best of all the facility is intimate. An Assisted Living where everyone who works there and the visitors know one another and are friendly and respectful to the residents often greeting them by name.

I visit this Artis facility every week with my Bright&Beautiful Therapy dog, Ziva, a golden retriever. From the moment we first walked in the door I knew this facility was the one we wanted to spend time at. The beauty of this facility - gorgeous, welcoming and homey - is not just skin deep. I consider the more important beauty, that of administrators who are exceptionally caring and involved with residents, and the staff who are amazing in how caring, considerate and respectful they are of all in their care, the true jewel. Ziva enjoys her visits and warmly shares her attention with residents, families and staff, and we hear about and see photos from so many engaging programs offered for resident stimulation and enjoyment. This review is very long. For your convenience, here’s the TLDR: Artis specializes in memory care and their staff is specifically trained to deal with dementia. Don’t get swept up in the “escapades” lifestyle of some of these other places nearby. Artis is the absolute best. Their staff are some of the most caring and wonderful people I have met. I now sleep soundly knowing my mom is secure and cared for. Here’s the long story:The whole team at Artis are incredibly caring, wonderful people that truly understand and have compassion for people that need memory care. My mother had been in another assisted living facility nearby. Unfortunately, they had no security, and Mom was found wandering several miles away from there at 3am when she was picked up by the police. I met with the head of nursing the next morning expecting apologies but instead I was told that I had to remove her from their community because she was a “wander risk” despite being told in their sales pitch that they could handle someone with early-stage dementia and that she could graduate to memory care there. There was no room for her when this incident occurred.I was extremely distraught and reached out to Deena on a Sunday morning (the same day my mom was found by the police). She dropped everything (while on a weekend getaway) and sprang into action. She made the transition process seamless. My mom was moved in within a couple of days. Mom is happy and well cared for at Artis. The building is immaculately clean and has a beautiful outdoor patio that is fenced in for residents to enjoy the nice weather. I have never encountered a resident that looked dirty nor have I seen or smelled anything that would lead me to believe that the facility is anything less than spotless. The staff is incredibly thoughtful and I was even approached by one of the staff members asking that I buy a round brush so she can give my mom a better blow out for her hair. EVERY SINGLE PERSON I have encountered at Artis has been kind and genuinely interested in the well-being of my mom and other residents. Since my mom is in the earlier stages of dementia, the activities coordinator and her staff have made it a point to get my mom involved in activities that will stimulate her. She has made several friends within the community as well. My experiences between Artis and the other place are like night and day. Every time I went to the “other place” I was confronted with a lack of understanding of dementia and complaints about my mom’s inability to follow directions and rules. At Artis, I am told my mom is a delight and that her behavior is “normal” for someone with dementia. The staff at Artis is trained and equipped to handle her at her best and worst. My word of advice is to choose Artis over an assisted living facility if your loved one has early stages of dementia. Don’t make the mistake I made and fall for a sales pitch. Even if you think your loved one is not ready for memory care yet, or you are a told that an assisted living has a memory care that they can graduate to, that does not guarantee they will receive the proper care or that they’ll receive a spot in the memory care wing. There is still a possibility you would have to move later, which is something they do not tell you in their sales pitch. If I had to do over again, I would have chosen Artis from day 1.

I would highly recommend this facility for any loved one that has cognitive challenges. I wish that I had found them earlier on in my Mom's process and unfortunately learned the hard way that most Assisted Living facilities are not set up to provide the necessary services and living arrangements that are conducive to a good quality of life for a dementia resident. Artis has a great program to keep residents engaged. I particularly like that the residents have access to the entire facility including the outside grounds rather than being locked down in one or two rooms. The facility is new and beautifully designed and staff seems genuinely sincere with treating the residents with dignity and respect.

I just couldn't sit back and read how my father's home is being tarnished. My father has been a resident for quite some time. If there was ever a whisper of any neglect or any physical evidence of abuse like Ms. Hermida has so wrongly accused Artis of being. I would have taken him out months ago. It is in fact quite the opposite. My father has received the best care by the best and most caring people. There isn't enough kind word to express my gratitude not just the nursing staff, but everyone at Artis of Eatontown. When I say above and beyond I meant it. Neither me nor my father are easy to please yet they manage to amaze me more every day he is there. They are not just workers they are family. I hope I speak for all family members when I say please ignore Ms. Hermida her claims are not only false they are also a horrible representation of the building and staff who try so hard to provide the highest quality care.

Ive been in healthcare for many decades, specializing in Dementia Care. The Artis Way has many key components that gear toward person centered care. Lets face it, we are all unique beings, so shouldnt our care plan be as well? I especially love that they talk about forming positive partnerships and personal relationships. What is even more astonishing is, that the team members actually follow through and follow up with just that. They care about those they serve and those with whom they do business with.
