Well about a year ago I was told that I needed to get an ankle fusion resulting from a break about seven years ago. My surgeon from Columbia Presbyterian said we was going to put me in a sub acute rehab following the surgery. So I started to visit/tour rehab centers near me. I selected LIVIA Health & Senior Living, East Hanover, NJ about 10 minutes from my home. I have been here for just under a month and am leaving tomorrow to continue my recovery at home. I am so glad I chose LIVIA … They prepared me to be able to go home safely; their people are fantastic (this evening I watched a nurse feed a quest who was having difficulty … did not know a nurse would do that); helped me learn how to shower being non-Weight bearing - one leg only; showed compassion for all guests; provided a new, bright and very clean facility; and provided Occupational and Physical Therapy for guests. The food - good don't expect 5 star dining but it was good and they will get you more if you want it… Bottom line, again I am very glad that I chose LIVIA and if you are recovering from injury or have a family member that needs special care this a facility you should consider.

I have been in Health care for all of my professional life, most of which as a Hospital CEO. I have seen dozens of Long Term Care and Rehab facilities. My 99 year Mother has been a patient at Livia for almost 2 years. I could not be more pleased with the care rendered by the staff from health care aides, nurses and rehab staff. Their expertise and their genuine concern for my Mother is extraordinary. The facility itself is quite unique in that it is more like a hotel rather than a Nursing Home. It is attractive and well maintained. The overall staff from reception to maintenance are wonderful. I live nearby so I am there often and am hard pressed to come up with any criticism. Having my mother at Livia has provided me with a great feeling knowing she is well cared for, safe and loved. Jeff Moll

LIVIA is a beautiful Healthcare Community that has kind and caring team members. When you enter the lobby, you are greeted with a warm smile from reception and an impressive green wall. The building is clean, the food tastes great (especially on Wednesdays), and the team cares.

Responsive time for someone to help you is terrible. Entertainment is wonderful, I can say they keep you busy and are wonderful people. Most of the staff are nice but some are really mean and I will just keep reporting them to a supervisor. I have to revise my original post. I have come back for a second time and am now on the third floor north. Going home soon. I must say my experience here has been wonderful. The nurses on this floor are caring, helpful and supportive. Especially Joanne and Roland. Even though some of the nursing assistants on the other floor were good, the ones on the third floor were excellent. Thank you for singing Lorraine. Sorry I don't remember everyone's name. The midnight shift were also the best. I can say the physical therapy is the best you are going to get. Darren, Maria, Jason Amanda. Lindsey, Yuma. Sorry if I left anyone out. I am walking again thanks to you. Now entertainment is really great. Anthony you always made my day better. And also thank you Paul and Courtney. They will keep you busy. I know if I have to go to a rehab again, I will be going to Livia. Thank you for the special event days they were wonderful.

I have been here for about a week and half. Supposed to be on rehab floor 2 but put on floor 3 with mostly nursing home patients who were noisy into midnight outside my room and unable to get rest or sleep. Transferred to floor 2 in shared room with another patient who talked in sleep and was so depressing asking God to just take her because she wanted to die. Heard this day and night. She never was quiet Then nurse would bring in meds at 5:00 am and wake me up so again no sleep. Their kitchen sends up food either I cannot eat or missing utensils or anything to drink. Or cold when it should be hot. Three mornings of dry bagels with one pat butter. Had to butter it with spoon handle Due to aide removing tray with knife on it. Had to call down to kitchen but they never pick up the phone then I get disconnected. I have a fungal infection that the womb team prescribed anti fungal cream for. The nurses cannot find it so my fungus is getting worse instead of better. The doctor comes to see me and says she's putting in an order for certain medications to be given at certain times yet nurses say it's not on their computer so I don't get it. The bedroom is like a sauna and no one knows how to lower the temperature on thermostat. What a way to curtail spread of germs. I complain but nothing is ever done. Some of the aides are very nice and gentle when changing bed pads and diapers and others just don't care if they are rough when washing you up. I came here in better shape than I am now and thinking I should just sign myself out to go home and pay an outside service to continue my care. Not happy at all with this place and would not recommend it to anyone needing care or rehab after surgery.

I would highly recommend this place. It is absolutely beautiful. The staff is great and so are the residents. My 105 yr old Uncle Walter was a residents there and 1 day my beautiful Aunt or myself will be. So far, all of the facilities food I've hear doesn't taste good. It's NEVER going to be like home. So you guys have to bring us stuff‚

This is the worst facility ever. NURSES NEVER RESPOND TO THE CALL BELL. Food was crappy and cold and you never got to pick what you’d like to eat. One nurses aid tried to take a picture on his own phone of medical documentation which is illegal .. never knew when her therapy sessions were I’m appalled at the horrible treatment my mother received

I arrived at livia unable to walk no more than 30 feet post cervical spine surgery. My primary therapist were Annie for P.T and Vicky for O.T, both were absolutely amazing. At the conclusion of my three week stay Vicky had help me increase my hand strength from 15 to 50 and Annie had me walking up and down six flights of steps twice a day. Annie and Vicky are professional, understanding, empathetic and caring. I must mention Stacy and Aimee who on occasion filled in for Annie and Vicky. The Nursing and Cna staff were fantastic Rolland , Maria and Shanae were patient and extremely caring during their shifts they were always available. Dr Fried would see me at least three times a week to keep me updated on my medical progress he to was very courteous and thorough and spoke to me in a manner that I could understand, the whole medical staff was great. I could not have gone to a better facility, the food was good ,the rooms are a nice size and the outdoor sitting area is very nice there are also daily activities directed by Anthony when you are not doing therapy Anthony will keep your day filled with fun activities . Overall my stay at Livia was rewarding and I am very happy my wife found this facility for my rehabilitation needs . Thank you Annie and Vicky for giving me my life back.

My Dad was just in here for 3 weeks for rehab. The place was brand new, spotless, odorless and bright and airy. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful. More importantly they were friendly and smiling throughout the day, took time to talk to my father and us. Everyone on the 3rd floor rehab were great but especially Roland, Nadine, the morning aid Marie. Everyday I asked my Dad how he was being treated and he said great, very nice people. He loved the food and all of the physical therapists. Great place would highly recommend.

I have had the good fortune of rehabilitaion at Livia at East Hanover. I can't say enough about this facility. They pay attention to every detail a patient would want or need.. it is immaculately clean. There are activities geared to many tastes. The therapists are very competent and patient. And are your cheerleaders as you progress. There are many different areas with exercise equipment. There is a hair salon and a manicurist. Even the food is good! No institutionalized food. Much of it is home-made. The aides and nurses provide so much personal attention. Some of them really stand out like Rose, Elsie, and Lorna to mention a few. Therapists have helped me begin to regain my walking ability. Thank you Jason, Emily Genna Maria, Anne and Nick. Keep up the good work. You are the best.

Our 80+ year old mom went for rehab at Livia in East Hanover for 2 weeks. There are so many positives about this place its hard to list them all. Livia made a bad situation much easier to handle. The rooms are clean and even the food was well prepared. Every staff member is friendly and accommodating. Anthony and Sarah, part of the lifestyles staff, would take our mom to listen to music and would even stop by just to talk and keep her company. Lindsey the occupational therapist, very patiently taught my mom how to safely perform daily activities. Lisa Marie the physical therapist, walked with my mom and taught her exercises to help gain her strength back. The Nurses and Aides were switched often so its impossible to remember everyone, but they were all friendly and helpful. Livia caters to each patient’s needs on an individual basis. We’d give them 10 stars if we could.

There are definitely more than 5 stars at Livia! The facility and the people have far exceeded the expectations of myself, my sisters and my mother who has been a resident at Livia for a year. My mother was not enthusiastic about moving out of her home of 50 years, but needed rehab from some physical issues she was dealing with last year. The facility is very clean, safe, and has several programs to engage the residents. Alex is smiling to greet you when you arrive. And Abby is a wonderful Concierge. There’s plenty for the residents to do - and Anthony has so much energy! Whether it be watching a movie in the theater room, bingo in the game room, playing poker in the bistro, listening to live music or enjoying Thirsty Thursday, Livia is always active and inclusive with Anthony leading the charge. The other lifestyle engagement staff members are terrific too - Precious, Z, and Paola are all unmatched. The staff is extraordinary! The nursing team of Shanae, Roland, Rose, Elsie, Sophie and Janis are very knowledgeable, well trained but mostly are loving and caring. When my mother had to be hospitalized for a short time, the staff sent my mother flowers and balloons along with a very heartfelt card. They dote on her and treat her like royalty. If my mom is even a little off, Shanae is quick to call one of us. Even if she isn’t paired with my mom one day, she makes a point to still visit her. The therapy team of Vikki, Jason, Jessica, Lisa, Emily and Becky are amazing. My mother is a double amputee and the therapy team had my mom able to get herself out of bed and in a wheelchair on her own! When she was recently in the hospital, she was able to get herself into a chair by herself. The nurse said she wouldn’t believe it if she didn’t see it with her own eyes. My mother started declining recently and the family was by my mother’s side. The therapy team bought pizza one day, a tray of sandwiches another day, fruit and veggie platters the next day. They all stopped in to see her and tell her how much she means to each of them. The fact that I know most of the staff by name and live a state away is a testament to Livia and how they run their facility. Even the maintenance team of Dave and Jeffrey are so friendly and extremely responsive to any issues. I highly recommend Livia to anyone who is considering them for rehab, assisted living or long term care. Best decision we made for our mom!

Priscilla at the nurse's station and Millie and Alex at reception are helpful. Justin, the physical therapist, is a ray of light. It's difficult to get through to a person at the nurse's station via phone. Billing is messy. Breakfasts are good. Lunches and dinners aren't so good. The quality of the aides and physical therapists varies. The building is nice.

I can't say enough about our experience at Livia. From Admissions to nursing to activities and even housekeeping, every staff member we've encountered were extremely pleasant, caring and accommodating. My 98 year old grandmother was treated with love, respect and DIGNITY. Making the decision to have her reside there a little less stressful.

My father was sent to sycamore after being hospitalized with covid. Everyone who we dealt with went above and beyond to help him. He received therapy daily, which he truly enjoyed, even though he was still COVID positive and his therapists were kind and helpful. We spoke to them and his doctors and nurses regularly. One of the greatest features at sycamore are the tablets in the rooms so you can use Alexa to drop in on your loved one at any time. If you have ever wondered what was going on in the nursing home this is your chance. And any time we dropped in there was a nurse or aid who was passing by the room, popped in to check something, or came to care for him. We could tell that he was being well looked after. He was hospitalized again and we chose to send him somewhere that had only one floor so we could visit him at his window. That was a terrible mistake. We were so disappointed with the other facility but didnt want to put him through the trauma of a transfer. Unfortunately he ended up back in the hospital one last time before returning to sycamore. When he arrived there for the second time it was as if he were reunited with family. Everyone was so happy to see him again and have him back with them. When his doctors realized that there was no more they could do for him they very gently breached the topic with us. They provided my mother, brother and I with tyvek suits, masks, goggles and gloves so that we could at least spend his last days with him. This was the most compassionate act I could imagine. They clearly understood how devastating it was to lose a loved one after not being able to see him for months. And they found a way to make it work so that my fathers last days were spent with his loved ones. I am forever grateful to the staff and administrators of sycamore for their exceptional care of my father and their consideration of us.

This is a beautiful facility, brand new construction with a very unique layout. There is an incredible attention to the detail throughout the building making Sycamore a luxury facility. Most of the rooms are private, new call bell technology eliminates the usual sound of calls ringing throughout the building. No bad smells, beautiful outdoor courtyard, movie theater, private dinning room, and so much more. Staff were all friendly and welcoming.
