I noticed that Medicare.gov has given Laurel Circle very poor reviews for health inspection 2 out of 5 stars, quality measures 4 out of 5 stars, and overall rating for your facility 3 out of 5 stars. A premier facility that only accepts paying patients either through insurance or private pay and does not accept Medicaid patients should be considered a 5 star provider in every area. In seeking care for a loved one this is most concerning. Thanks.

I try not to pass on bad reviews but I need to here. My dad was transferred to this facility from rwjuh about 10 years ago. Back then it was Arbor Glen. I do not remember seeing a nurse at all the first hour he was Transferred there.He was terminal with cancer. I walked into his room the next day ( door wide open) and he was naked on the bed. His TV was broken. His toiletries and basin were stacked on top of his roommates toiletries, which I thought was kind of gross. He was there for about seven days and then we took him home to die. We were so dissatisfied with so many things there. And we never saw the charge nurse one time, even though we requested to see her. My brother wrote a long letter at that time. Also to let them know. Yes they may have changed. I hear they have a new administration so my advice is just make a tour of the facilities before you put your loved ones there. There was a general lack of care what I remember

Who knew that one of the best times in my life would occur in my eighties. My Raritan daughter researched Laurel Gardens and knew it was perfect for us. We’ve made lifelong friends both with other residents and staff members, real soul mates who share our varied life experiences with one another. The warmth and kindness enfolded us as we entered the reception area. I was delighted by the size of the library, a theater that houses both a piano, an organ, a movie theater, and amazing , varied menus everyday. Perhaps one of the best features is the extensive activities, my favorites being the poetry and book club, but there are art and craft clubs, world affairs groups, and a plethora of professional entertainment .They even built a fence for our dog before we moved in to our lovely apartment with its beautiful and ever- changing view of the gardens beyond.We couldn’t be happier. I moved into an assisted living apartment six months ago. Could not be happier. Whoever hires the staff deserves accolades for hiring the kindest and most helpful team members from dining staff to maintenance and security. I’m also very impressed with the system put in place to care for all resident needs. There is an app to help residents navigate all the activities available each day from exercise classes to a wide range of creative arts. Oh, and by the way, for food aficionados the menu covers a wide range of choices with excellent results.

I moved into Laurel Circle 6 months ago and it was the right decision. The staff is attentive and greets every resident by name and with a smile. There are endless activities, so it's impossible not to find something of interest. My visiting nephew referred to Laurel Circle as a cruise ship on land. The food is excellent, with casual dining available in the Cafe and Bistro, and more formal dining in The Monroe Dining Room. I can't recommend Laurel Circle highly enough. I have truly found my new home.

When I told my family that I intended to move from Georgia, back to New Jersey, where I grew up, their approval and enthusiasm were heartwarming. My nieces and I researched several CCRCs in central and northern New Jersey and found that Laurel Circle compared very favorably to much larger facilities. Nevertheless, I feared that I might make a bad decision because I couldn’t travel to New Jersey to visit Laurel Circle myself. Shelley and Ayana in Marketing relieved my apprehension early and continuously. They conducted FaceTime tours of Laurel Circle for me, so I was able to see the beauty of the facility and witness the warm everyday interactions between residents and staff. They made it possible for me to view the apartment I preferred while it was still under renovation and Tim, the Project Manager, submitted to a FaceTime call from Georgia to design a similar master bedroom closet for my apartment! Residents here are unfailingly welcoming. From the resource people at the Concierge Desk to the Executive Director’s Office, questions and concerns are addressed with care and empathy. My first impression of laurel circle was the location, it felt like the countryside with beautiful trees, and flowers surrounding the property. Philip was a great help finding me my dream apartment on the ground floor which allowed me to continue pursuing my love for gardening. A big plus the food is varied and excellent, the chef is very personable he converses with the residents at dinner. The staff are extremely pleasant and very welcoming. The community offers transportation, which takes you to local shops, which is very helpful while familiarizing yourself with the area. I’ve decide to come to Laurel Circle because it is a reasonable drive to my daughter & accessible to Newark airport which allows me to still travel.

Among the fortunes that I have had in my life, Laurel Circle comes at the top. The administration and employees are sensitive to the needs of the residents, and share a mutual respect. There is a noticeable ambiance amongst the residents, that makes everyone feel at ease. The meals prepared by the kicthen staff provide a well balanced nutrition. The wait staff serve the food in a pleasant manor. In the community there are many programs such as movie nights, musical entertainment & guest speakers that provide knowledge on insightful topics. I personally enjoy participating in physical activies, for example ping pong in the clubhouse and chair volleyball. Overall I am happy with my decision to chose Laurel Circle as my home at this period in my life.

My husband was recently discharged after a nine night stay at Laurel Circle. The nursing aides were wonderful with delivering and assisting him with setting up for each meal. They were friendly, caring and efficient with all requests. The nursing staff was thorough with attending to medications and any other needs. The therapists were excellent in guiding him through exercises. They exposed him to many options of assistive devices. And lastly the administration was most helpful in exposing us to options for independent living which we are currently evaluating. In addition they were all attentive to our needs through out the stay. The conversations and friendliness made all the difference because of the sincerity of the care.

I worked with the Laurel Circle team to move my parents (96 and 90 years old) into the independant living section. Every aspect of the process, from contract signing to move in has been managed with the utmost degree of professionalism and class. The staff there is incredibly kind and nurturing to my folks. They have been living there for about 3 weeks now. They love their apartment and are getting comfortable with their living situation. Their only complaint so far is that the food quality seems to vary from day to day...sometimes it's great while other times it's mediocre. As the kitchen is in it's final stages of rennovation with the promise that this will increase the food quality, my folks are hopeful that this aspect of the experience improves. All told, we are thrilled with the Laurel Circle experience and are very impressed with the kind and attentive staff. UPDATE: May 2024 The updated kitchen/main dining room has been open for ~ 1 month and as promised, Laurel Circle delivered. Dinner is now a highlight for my parents. Food consistency has greatly improved and the dining room has the look, feel, and service of a nice restaurant. Not only are my parents enjoying the food, but also the total dining and social experience in the updated dining room. Kudos to Laurel Circle!

Tim and his team did a great job on upgrades to the unit and the women of JNM movers (Judy, Anne, Farrah, Kim, etc.) were absolutely incredible - super-efficient, flexible, patient. Typical/minor issues with the unit were addressed promptly (Rene, Tyrel, etc.). The attitudes and engagement of staff is truly impressive. We stayed for dinner one night and glad we did. I am 90 years old. I have lived at Laurel Circle for over 9 years. Many years ago I was attracted to the philosophy of CCRC’s and when they broke ground for what is now Laurel Circle I set my long range plans to live here. I am a widow and had lived alone for many years. I have 2 devoted daughters who each live about 40 minutes away in different directions. This is a very special place! There is a unique community of caring residents and staff that doesn’t exist in all CCRC’s. There are no cliques, there is no snobbery, everyone says “hello”. We are like a big family. The staff is part of that family, and many know us by name. This is a place where you can feel socially safe. You can forget about pretenses and let your guard down, and let the best of you come to the surface. If you get sick or need help you will be well taken care of. We laugh together about our maladies and old-age idiosyncrasies! It’s a great place to live!

Laurel Circle is immaculately clean and employs welcoming, friendly people- from Sherie at the front lobby desk to Dana at the nurses station. Mom has been there for a year and a half. Her care has been excellent. She is bed bound and her skin has been cared for very carefully. Hello! Come visit Laurel Circle and be my neighbor! This is an amazing place to live! Everyone here, staff and residents alike, express happiness with their smiles and greetings. This is everyday, not just on special occasions. “Getting to know you” seems to be important to everyone, not just the Welcoming Committee. I attend exercise classes that are modified for different abilities. Seated beach ball volleyball is my favorite with lots of laughs and cautions to keep six feet on the floor- four for chair and two for participant. Ha! For me it has been an exciting adventure at the age of 92. My “new friends” phone directory has the names of 39 residents and I keep adding more names. I have had dinner with most of these or at least hit a beach ball to them. I love living here and feel so blessed to have been here for five months.. Trudy Powelson

The only observation from my side is that on the weekends staff is severely limited and I would like to see more nursing staff . As well the weekend receptionist is quite rude and very dismissive when speaking to family members . It’s a shame really as she is the only receptionist that is as rude . The others are lovely .
