The Courville at Bedford - Carlyle – Reviews
December 2022
I made the decision to move my mom into Carlyle Place after touring every other facility in the area. As I toured Carlyle, it just had a comfortable, homie feel. The staff are all great, and most of them have been there for many years. My mom has been there now for roughly 10 months and she is doing very well. Her overall heath has improved, she is comfortable, happy and safe. The daily schedule which includes social events, exercise and entertainment keep her busy and engaged. if your in need of an assisted living facility for a loved one, look no further.
December 2022
My mother and I had lived in the same house together, first with me growing up, and them Mom with my family, for more than 50 years. So, the decision to put her into assisted living was crushing. Along with that we had to find a place in 2 weeks, just to add to the anxiety. Jen was the first person we met, and we explained our dilemma. She was so understanding and helpful it put us immediately at ease. Soon we met Emily, and we knew we'd found our place. The majority of the staff have been there for years, and we were introduced to them all. The facilities are beautiful and quaint, 35 residents included. Mom has been there for 4 months now, and she has been cared for better than we could have envisioned. She has trouble seeing and hearing and has early on set dementia, so she needs good care. They have on-site physical therapy, hairdresser and PCP, so we don't need to continually take her out of the facility. The dining hall and food remind me more of a nice restaurant with the highest quality of food and diverse menu. Of course, there is always going to be worry and emotion whenever your loved one has to move out, but Carlyle Place handles that about as well as can be expected. I give the highest recommendations.

This post is under my husband's name, but I have volunteered at Carlyle Place. Not only is the place immaculate, the staff are wonderful and the food is delicious. Having spent time with the residents, I feel they are well taken care of and seem very happy and content. Would highly recommend Carlyle Place!

When it came time for my Mom to move into and assisted living facility I wanted her to go into a place where I knew she would be well taken care of. I would say that the best compliment I can give is that I am comfortable here as an employee and I wanted the best place for my own Mom. I know my co-workers, have been working at Carlyle Place for six years now, and truly feel that the all of the staff are exceptional. The longevity of the staff speaks for itself we have people here over 22 years of employment. The care that the nursing department gives is above the rest. They pay close attention to details of our residents lives to ensure the best possible quality of life. The dietary department is very careful to review a persons likes and dislikes and makes sure the special little touches are in place. The chef visits the table after each meal. The maintenance/housekeeping/laundry department has been instrumental in making sure her surroundings are comfortable, safe and clean. She has been living her best life again getting stronger with the help of our therapy department run by genesis. She is up walking and I have even seen her dancing down the hall with her walker. It has been a joyful and refreshing experience to see her back in action. Lately she has returned to her sewing machine assisting other residents with some alterations, started taking guitar lessons, singing again, making friends and is able to go out with friends and family. I am so happy that we chose to bring her to Carlyle Place and she is pleased with her choice as well. Thank you to the Courville of Manchester Team and Admissions for this transition to Assisted Living. Cheers !! Alicia T. Sell, Life Enrichment Director, Certified Music Practitioner

I was fortunate enough to work at Carlyle Place for a little over two years while I was pursuing my college degree. My time at Carlyle was full of nothing but positive experiences. I was surrounded by wonderful coworkers, who truly cared for the residents each and every day. All of the staff were dedicated to creating a welcoming, friendly environment and ensuring that the residents felt right at home. As a full time student, my schedule was packed at times, but I always felt supported by my managers to help me balance work and my education. I am beyond grateful for my time at Carlyle Place.
July 2021
My mother lived in Chicago her whole life, lost her husband, and most recently had been in recovery after two months of hospitalization and rehabilitation. We wanted to move her to New Hampshire to be closer to family in a place where she would be safe, receive the best care, and enjoy time with family as much as possible. Not an easy task to find THE place given numerous medical issues, continuation of physical therapy, and the ongoing need for assistance and oversight. After evaluating possible assisted living facilities, we were relieved and hopeful when we discovered the Courville at Bedford-Carlyle and moved forward. The General Manager, Jennifer, ensured that the transition was seamless and with her dedicated staff embraced Mom as family, making her feel welcome and special. They monitor her and adapt the physical, mental and emotional support she needs on a daily basis. Time spent with her and for her is part of the care, and with this most amazing staff and intimate community, she is not overlooked or overwhelmed. She is thriving. We count our lucky stars as we realize that the Carlyle is the best and perhaps only answer to her every need. She will be there for the rest of her life, in the same suite, with the same outstanding long-term staff, enjoying the beautifully appointed surroundings and furnished suite, and all of the wonderful dining and social offerings. And we get to enjoy all that with her, as they are family to us too.

After our experience with Carlyle Place 2 years ago, when our mother was there for assisted living, it was the first place I thought of when our Dad needed a place short term for rehab after an illness. Not only did Jen Pinard, the director, spring in to action to make this happen quickly for us, she made the transition smooth and comfortable for our previously independent and healthy father. When we arrived at Carlyle, we felt like we were being greeted by family and old friends! They warmly welcomed him, helped ease any apprehension he had, and eased our minds and confirmed that we made the right decision for a respite option while he continued to heal and regain strength. PT and OT have been amazing working with him, helping him get stronger and more confident, and updating family consistently about his progress. I can assure you, if you are looking for an assisted living for a loved one, or even short term option, you should look no further. Carlyle Place will take care of your loved one, and care about them and you as if you are family. Though our dad will be moving home once he is ready, we know that if the day comes again that he needs a place to stay, it will be Carlyle again!
June 2021
The staff of Carlyle took exceptional care of my father during his stay with there and they were very kind to our family. I would highly recommend this facility.
June 2021
Earlier this year our family needed to place our Dad in an assisted living facility to meet his care needs. The Courville at Bedford-Carlyle Place not only met but exceeded our expectations in caring for our Dad....we are beyond grateful. The caring staff not only provided compassionate care for our Dad as a resident; as a family, we did feel our needs as a family were graciously considered as well. To the entire staff at Carlyle Place, thank you!
June 2021
This past April my siblings and I had to make the difficult decision to put our father in assisted living. We could not have asked for a better place. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We immediately knew we had picked the right facility. Unfortunately after a few weeks it was determined he would need hospice care. Everyone, and I mean everyone could not have been more caring, compassionate and patient. He was truly blessed to have such wonderful care.
April 2021
I would like to say how well things worked out admitting my mother to Carlyle Place in February during the pandemic. My family was in a difficult situation after my dad passed away and my mother was unable to live alone. We had spoken many times of this day coming, but my parents never want to leave their home of 35 years. With many facilities unable to take in new residents due to COVID 19, it was a true blessing that Carlyle Place had no active cases and were admitting new residents. At the start of the first communication by the director, my mom felt welcome and I knew this we the best decision we could make . Thank you Jennifer and every single staff member at Carlyle in making this transition as smooth as possible. It felt like family as soon as we walked in the door! I am grateful that my mom is adjusting to her new home and seems happy!
April 2021
Jen Pinard and her staff have provided a warm, caring and safe place for my sister and other residents to live. Thank you.
April 2021
As an R.N. who visits weekly from an outside agency, I cant rave enough about Carlyle Place. The staff are kind, caring, and so compassionate in the work and care they deliver to their residents. There is such a great community and family atmosphere here the minute you walk through the door, and it is so evident and admirable how each and every resident is treated with so much dignity and respect from the entire staff.. truly amazing. I wish I could give 10 stars as this is where I would want my own parents to be when that time comes.
April 2021
I am extremely fortunate that Carlyle Place was accepting new residents while dealing with a pandemic! After the death of my father last January and my mom needing assistance it was a stressful time with many long term care facilities unable to admit new residents. On day one, when we walked in I felt the comfort of the director Jen and how she made us feel like family. All the staff has made my mom feel welcome and well cared for. She has made it though losing her husband and leaving the home she loved and has adjusted to the transition of her new life thanks to the care of everyone! With difficult decisions that had to be made, I can say this was a blessing and glad to see my mother happy! I have no doubt this was the right choice. A big THANK YOU to Andrew and Judy at the front desk for all of your help, professional nursing staff, physical therapists, David and everyone in the kitchen, Carlon and Cricket and everyone working at Carlyle Place! Anne
April 2021
Carlyle Place came to our rescue in the middle of the pandemic. My fathers long-term care unit was closing due to COVID-19, and I had to find him a new home very quickly. After learning that Carlyle Place could take him, I was offered a virtual tour within 24 hours. I loved what I saw. All of my questions were answered immediately. Three days later Dad moved into his new home at Carlyle Place. Everyone at Carlyle Place helped to make Dads transition as smooth as possible for him. Since then, I have found it very easy to communicate with everyone at Carlyle Place: the director, the front desk staff, the nursing staff, the dining room and kitchen staff, the recreation staff, and the physical therapy staff. Dad is extremely happy in his new home at Carlyle Place. I am very happy with the care that the staff at Carlyle Place provide for Dad. Dad is safe and comfortable. I have peace of mind.
March 2021
My mother moved into Carlyle Place in late January. She is extremely happy and joyful there. I had looked at many, many assisted care facilities and Carlyle Place won hands down. They are extremely professional and yet they are a family community eager to have family members involved. The Director of the facility even met with my mother in her apartment prior to her entering Carlyle Place. My mother seems happier now than she has been in years! The staff give me frequent updates on all aspects of care and the facility itself is gorgeous. I may need to reserve a spot for myself for the future!
March 2021
Carlyle Place is just a fantastic new home for my 86 year old mother. The staff are professional and extremely kind and caring. The Director is phenomenal and highly communicative with all the families of the residents. My mother has been there since late January and she seems happier than she has been in years! I would highly recommend Carlyle Place to any family seeking compassionate and professional care for their loved one. And my mother tells me the food is fantastic! Denise Foster
March 2021
Carlyle Place in Bedford is truly an oasis of Human Kindness. My sister has been a resident for a month and she already refers to it as her home, due to the excellent individual care she is receiving from all staff members. The ease of communicating with the caring staff has given me much comfort and reassurance that this is the perfect place for her.
November 2020
Carlyle Place at Bedford is an amazing Long Term Memory Care facility and the perfect place for our Mom. This past March, 2020, it was time to transition Mom from a multi-level townhouse to a place where Mom could be supported medically, socially and mentally, but still have some level of independence. At first it was a bit uneasy for US when she moved in, but we soon realized SHE was in the best of hands - that being each and every staff member that works at Carlyle Place - Bedford. Moms place feels like home as we were able to bring in many of her personal items. The daily schedule includes social events which keep Mom involved and I know she is staying active. Going outside, rocking in those lovely chairs on the patio, or in the courtyard was her spring, summer and fall favorite thing to do! Each meal and snack provided are created with variety, as well as quality, which Mom enjoys very much. The only tough part I must add to my review is that Covid-19 virus arrived the week of her arrival and Carlyle Place at Bedford shut the doors. The facility complied with all the CDC recommendations and remained very strict throughout this entire pandemic. For that we are truly thankful. Mom was safe and has been kept safe! We had the opportunity to make calls, see each other over video calls, window visits and then onto acceptable socially distant visits. Its been a long time from March to November but we are certain we made the correct choice for Mom to live at Carlyle Place at Bedford. The communication from Carlyle has been fantastic. I would highly recommend considering Carlyle Place at Bedford for your loved one.
September 2020
Anyone who is fortunate enough to be living or taking respite at Carlyle Place is truly blessed. My Mother moved there in June of 2012 and passed away there in December of 2012. My former Mother-in- law moved there in November of 2019 and is very happily residing there presently. When I brought my Mother-in-law there, I was elated to see most of the same staff that my Mother had 7 1-2 years earlier still working there!! That certainly says that the employees enjoy their jobs and I can tell you first hand just how wonderful they are. They are kind, caring, thoughtful, respectful and go out of their way to ensure that all who are entrusted to their care, are comfortable, happy, well groomed, well fed, active and entertained. If someone needs speech therapy, they get it, physical therapy, they get it, whirlpool tub, they get it. Whatever they need, they get it. They have art classes, flower arranging, exercise class, movies, mocktail socials and I could go on and on. To put it plainly, they are the best of the best!! Im more than grateful to this excellent staff for their genuine concern and the great care and love they give to all the residents. My deepest and heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of you . Sincerely, Muriel Maynard
August 2020
The Carlyle Place has been a saving grace for my mother and me! Putting a loved one into an assisted living facility is hard enough for your loved ones, and family. They took my mother in with welcoming arms, and has provided exceptional care for her needs. I had gone to other facilities, but from the first time you walk into Carlyle Place you feel a sense of home. I cannot say enough about the kindness, and caring of their staff to the residents. I am truly blessed to have found this facility for my mothers precious time.
August 2020
After having searched far and wide for a place for dad I was overjoyed to find Carlyle Place. He immediately felt welcomed and comfortable. Entering the building is where it begins. Landscaping is beautiful, nicely decorated and nice music to welcome you. Housekeeping is above reproach. Everything is clean and fresh. The staff truly seem to love their job. Always are pleasant. Any one at any moment will take the time to talk to you about any concerns or thoughts that concern you as the love one. Activities of all sorts are going on all day to remind the residence that they are assisting them in living not letting them simply slip away. Fresh flowers on the tables in the dining room and the food is presented pleasing to the eyes and delicious. The nursing staff and administration make certain that their medical needs are addressed so that your loved one feels that they are cared for. I highly recommend this home.
June 2020
We made a sound decision when we asked Carlyle to care for my mother. The staff is excellent, so caring and always showing attention. The facility and grounds are well kept which was very important to our family. They are very successful through this coronavirus period, using protocols approved by the State. I could not say enough about the entire staff, who day after day make my moms stay enjoyable and worry-free.
April 2020
Words cannot express adequately enough how amazing this place is. From the moment I walked in the door to meet with Jen Pinard to discuss respite care for my mom, I knew I was in the right place. Jen truly listens and understands how hard it is to decide on where to place a loved one and made me feel completely comfortable asking tons of questions which she answered with so much compassion and knowledge. Since that first meeting, my mom has been in respite there when I travel and nothing is more comforting to know she is being well cared for. The entire facility is clean and beautiful and the staff is exceptionally warm and friendly, and the food is AMAZING! This is the place my mom will be going to once she requires full time care. I completely trust this living facility. There is always something fun going on and the staff is always smiling! Sandy Cote
March 2020
Well first I would like to say how wonderfull all of the people are that work so hard to make sure the elderly are taken care of. When you walk in you get a warm feeling that everyone really cares. Mom is very Happy there. Thanks Alan
January 2020
My Mom has been at Carlyle place for almost two months now, having recently moved from another assisted living facility. The compassion and care at Carlyle Place has been exceptional, from the initial phone call to the daily living, and can be seen and felt in each and every one of their very dedicated team members. The food here is amazing with freshly prepared meals and snacks throughout the day. The activities are extremely fulfilling and include regularly scheduled day trips throughout New Hampshire and the surrounding states. I visit my Mom three to four days a week and I have seen, heard, felt and tasted, first-hand, how their dedicated and devoted team provides my Mom with a quality of life and consistency of care that exceeds expectations and is more than I could have ever imagined. I rest assured at night knowing that I dont have to worry that my Mom is getting the best care that she needs and deserves.
November 2019
Carlyle Place is a warm and welcoming community. Its small enough to provide a personalized experience, while still offering a good variety of activities and the best of care. Everyone has treated my mom with the utmost respect and kindness. Our experience has been excellent!
August 2019
After the passing of our Dad our Mom lived alone in her beloved home almost until her 92nd birthday. When the time came that she was no longer able to drive her car we hired in home care to assist with cleaning, shopping, hygiene, etc. but they were not 24 hour care. After a couple of falls resulting in serious injury and the noticeable decline in the ability for Mom to continue to live alone we had to make the hard decision to find her an Assisted Living facility. My brother and I researched and toured multiple Assisted Living facilities (Carlyle Place being one of the first few we visited) from Southern NH to Northern NH and with each disappointing facility tour we would turn to each other and say "This is no Carlyle Place". And so after months of research and touring we chose Carlyle Place and we are so glad we did. Prior to Mom's moving into Carlyle Place, Jen Pinard, the Executive Director actually came to Mom's home to meet her, learn her daily routine, and offer suggestions to make the transition from home to Assisted Living as comfortable as possible. There are approximately 42 Residents (+/-) at Carlyle Place....a more family/intimate environment where everybody knows everybody......not a large 100+ resident facility which feels institutional. Whenever I go to visit Mom I am greeted with multiple "hello's" from both staff and residents. The Carlyle Place Staff and Facility are "top-notch". The facility is clean and well maintained in pristine condition. The Chef provides exceptional culinary delights in the well decorated white table clothed dinning room. There are multiple daily activities and the front porch/patio with rocking chairs, music, flowers, and the resident birds is always a favorite summer time place for residents to visit and enjoy activities. What I like best is the "Communication" offered by all Staff at Carlyle Place. If I visit or talk with Mom on the phone and I feel something is off with her or if I have a question or request about anything....I call or email and I receive an immediate response whether it's from a Nurse, the Activities Director or the Executive Director, my concerns are ALWAYS immediately addressed. I cannot speak highly enough about the care and attention Mom receives from the Staff at Carlyle Place.....and.....the peace of mind I have obtained knowing Mom is safe and cared for. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone looking for an Assisted Living Facility to contact Carlyle Place. Look no further......I've already done all the research.....Call Carlyle!!! "GREAT JOB" Carlyle Staff......keep up the Good Work!!!
December 2018
Carlyle admitted my grandmother for respite care on very short notice. Everyone we interacted with was kind and supportive during this very stressful period. The respite was more like a therapeutic admission because they arranged for physical and occupational therapy to help her prepare for a move to assisted living. I can't say enough positive things about the director and the staff and the time and the guidance they gave my family. The facility is lovely and the food is fantastic. The chef is kind and friendly and greets residents after meals, asking how they are and how they liked the food.
November 2018
I can't tell you have amazing the Carlyle has been with the care of my mother. From the start Jen realized how overwhelmed I was at the idea of moving my 87 year old mom, who had dementia, from her home of NY to NH. I was concerned with her ability to adjust and to share a room, but Jen encouraged me to take one step at a time. The staff has provided me with such a sense of calm, knowing that she was being cared for in the best way possible. She is always dressed to the nines when I come and is peaceful and content. Two things that my mother has struggled with for years. Although I know that we will not have her for much longer, there is a comfort for myself and my family, that her time is filled with a feeling of compassion and for that I am so thankful.
November 2018
The Carlyle took such good care of my Nana and family during the last few months of her life. Their caring and compassion was very appreciated.
November 2018
From the moment we walked in the door of Carlyle Place we knew that this was an exceptional environment for our mother. The warmth kindness compassion and professionalism bestowed upon our mother and our family was amazing. The facility is beautiful and even more importantly the entire staff is absolutely wonderful!! The director Jennifer Pinard..the nurse manager Colleen..and all the staff are incredibly knowledgeable professional and so kind. With all their support they made this chapter in our mothers life and our lives..simply put HAPPY!! We all rest easy at night knowing the safe compassionate care our mother is receiving.THANK YOU ALL at CARLYLE PLACE..mom is thriving! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!
November 2018
My Mom has been now at the Carlyle for 15 months. Placing your parent in a facilty is never easy but to this day I know I made the right decision in her placement. The Carlyle is a safe, clean and an exceptionally run facilty in all areas from housekeeping, nursing and lnas , activities, and dining staff.. I know my Mom could be in no more caring hands anywhere and I highly reccomend this facility to others. Carlyle has now become family to both my mom and myself and it is a joy to walk thru the doors with that feeling. Thank You to all the WONDERFUL STAFF!
October 2018
It was a tough decision my family had to make, to remove my grandmother from her home she has lived in for more then 60 years. The staff at Carlyle really helped make that transition easier. Everyone is always friendly and helpful and the food is always 5 star! The staff keeps residents busy with plenty of activity choices and field trips. We love that we can come and have a meal in the dining room with her anytime we want. The Chef even comes out and talks to the residents to make sure they enjoyed their meals. We are very confident in our decision to place her at Carlyle. Our family feels such a weight lifted off our shoulders knowing our loved one is safe and being taken care of so well.
October 2018
My husband and siblings' mom has been at Carlyle Place since last November and we can't say enough about this little hidden gem! We searched many different facilities and found Carlyle to be a perfect fit for mom. The one floor layout and small number of residents has made it easier for mom to navigate and get to know the residents and staff. The caring, friendly, and attentive staff readily welcomed both mom and our family into Carlyle's community. Carlyle's commitment to each individual resident's well being, socially, mentally, and physically, speaks volumes! We are kept abreast of mom's health and well being and our input is valued. It is a comfort knowing that mom's quality of life is enhanced and she is in such good hands.
October 2018
I can't say enough good things about Carlyle Place. I was the caregiver of a cousin for years, and when the time came that I could no longer meet his needs, it was very difficult to feel comfortable with the thought of anyone else caring for him after all the horror stories you hear in today's world. Carlyle Place and their wonderful staff took those worries away from day 1 - not just for me but for my cousin as well. My cousin has been at Carlyle for 3 years now, and not a day has gone by that I am worried that he doesn't have the care and comfort he needs. The staff provides loving, competent care around the clock and have been so understanding and helpful through the challenges and special needs my cousin faces on a daily basis as an elderly adult with Asperger's Syndrome. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that his quality of life remains high, he always has his days filled with activities, delicious food, emotional support and intellectual stimulation. The staff recently took him on a train trip in Meredith, NH, planned for him in mind knowing his love of trains. They continuously go above and beyond, meeting his every need well beyond what's in the job description. I can not speak highly enough of the staff at Carlyle, they are truly such a special group of individuals who care about their residents at a higher level than I could have ever have imagined. The facility itself is always spotless and feels like home, not a hospital. Very inviting to guests! My family and I are eternally grateful for all the patience, love and care that is given to our loved one. Thank you Carlyle!
August 2018
Mom now has a big smile on her face! She is happy, well cared for and we have peace of mind knowing the professional staff cares for her emotional and social needs as well as medical needs. No more just sitting in front of the television!
August 2018
Carlyle Place was a great find for mom. After a sudden illness that changed moms abilities to live on her own we moved her to Carlyle Place. The staff has been so kind and helpful with mom adjusting to her new home. The maintenance man has been so helpful with having moms room decorated just like home. The nurses, LNAs and activities staff have helped mom adjust to her new routine and the kitchen staff have all been so accommodating when we have family gatherings at moms house. All the staff and the fabulous administration have made us feel that mom is in good hands and getting great care. I can finally sleep well at night knowing she is in good hands.
July 2018
Carlyle Place is the perfect new home for my 94 year old parents because the facility accommodates both their individual needs and they are together in the same room. The staff is caring and many employees have been their 10-20 years. I cannot say enough about the Director Jennifer. She is down to earth, professional, and has been outstanding in every way, helping my parents and I go through the transition of a new living situation for them. Julie Johnson, Manchester, NH

After my 85 year old father with Parkinsons took a fall a week before Mothers Day and subsequently went through 2 surgeries to relieve his sub Duran hematoma, we knew he needed to be in a safer environment. It was the most difficult decision we had ever made as a family. We visited many different places trying to find a home that we could all feel comfortable with. It was very challenging to make this adjustment but he is so well taken care of by the staff and they have made every effort to involve him and help make him part of the family . We cant thank you all enough for all that you do for our father...each and every one of you!❤
April 2018
I moved my mom to Carlyle Place, from another Assisted Living Facility, 4 years ago. What a great decision! The facility has become a second home. It is spotless, inviting, and safe. I cant say enough positive comments about the attentive, compassionate staff and administration. Their loving care for my mom gives me the chance to just be her daughter. And that gift of peace of mind is priceless!
