Visiting my sister in Whispering pines and last evening the apartment was a bug zone. A bug at least 4 inches was crawling across the wall, another was crawling across the couch and still another was crawling across the floor. Was told " we spray once a month" ., My sister said that was not true. If you don't request spray , you don't get it. Randy an assistant mgr came up just now and did some spraying. He said he would put her on the list. She is now apartment bound and the new management team has not even been around to introduce themselves and have been here for several months. I would think that would have been a priority just to know your clients. I think that is very unprofessional.( I mentioned that to the two managers about three months ago ) I would also say that most of the residents seem well satisfied and happy.

Chef prepared food is a plus. However, I'd like to see more vegetarian options, for examle. quinoia. The servers are wonderful, as are the cooks. I do have some strong objections to the canned music that plays CONSTANTLY!!!! It's so distracting when I'm trying to study or attend an online meeting. I would love for management to consider turning it off after 7 pm.

Gracious managers: Jeff and Dawn; Brent and CindyLee. Even though they are new to the area, they've developed a lot of familiarity and appreciation of the area. Plus, they are super nice and cordial. The facility is beautiful, as are the grounds. The food is fair but has lost some of its appeal since I was first here a couple of months ago. For example, Crisco is used to fry foods b/c olive oil, a healthier choice, is "too expensive." Home-made rolls are served every day. The kitchen staff are super nice, servers and chefs alike. There are an abundance of activities and trips, however I would prefer to see more educational offerings, like classes thru Duke. UNC, or NC State offered through their lifelong learning programs. Pets are allowed and there are several well-behaved dogs, birds, and cats here. The rooms are quiet, with no outside noise from traffic or loud parties. Management is superior, there are church services on Sunday, in-house movies every night, and it's a family friendly environment.

Based on resident appearances, tiny bit concerned about the food and/or its service (lot of fruit salad prior to starchy) matching the fiber and caloric recommendations. My visits were late afternoons- other than a group that had a tight click of friends, most others seemed a lack of something to do. One guy was new and distraught, no one offered support other than myself during my afternoon to evening visit. The dining area is lovely and and there are some small areas to wonder but place fairly small. It would need extra organized activities here… Residents while some seem wee restless , overall they seemed content. Great location near supermarket and shopping. I'd give this 3-3.5 star -more if it was larger and more walking about and goings on in some part or another or staff interaction.

My sister and I spent quite a lot of time reading reviews and comparing retirement communities for our mother in order to make the right decision, so we felt it was important to take the time to write our own review for Whispering Pines Gracious Living. During the time our mother was at WP, the staff and management team could not have been more caring, kind and attentive with her. The staff checked on her regularly, encouraged her to participate in the many activities and kept in touch with us regarding any concerns on a weekly basis. In particular, I would like to thank Windy Read for going above and beyond to make mom feel at home and cared for. We would highly recommend WP and feel lucky our mom was a part of this community.

I cannot say enough nice things about Whispering Pines! My mother has lived here for the past three years and could not be happier. The apartments and grounds are beautiful and there is a real sense of community there. The entire staff (management, food services, cleaning crew, activities coordinators, home health staff, etc.) are organized, receptive, and invested in their residents. My mom loves the grilled cheese and playing bingo several days a week. I would highly recommend Whispering Pines if you are looking for a place that will take exceptional care of your semi-independent loved one.

I get to work here at Whispering Pines! I just started about a month ago and I absolutely love it. Our managers are amazing, our Residents are happy, our food is great and the housekeepings go above and beyond to keep the building spotless. The Residents here at Whispering Pines are so much fun and so kind. Moving here from the west coast was a long trip but our Residents have embraced us and have made us feel like part of the Whispering Pines family. Were lucky to be here!

My Grandmother-in-law stays here and she really likes it. Residents get their own apartment, usually with a balcony. Its clean, up to date, and well kept. The staff are always hospitable and willing to go the extra mile. The food is good quality. They also have extra rooms to host small parties and get togethers with your loved ones. Great retirement home!

The most awesome place and people you will find. After years of exploring ALL the local possibilities for my mother, this won hands down. She loves it ! You think youre in a country club with gourmet food service prepared from scratch (no canned anything) by 2 chefs daily served at you table. The place is a God send.
