Carteret landing has been the best place for my grandmother. She was really lonely and wasn’t taking care of herself on her own and when we looked into Carteret landing, Sam was a really big help. She explained everything to us and took her time giving us a tour of the facilities. The whole place treats my grandmother like family and she has been thriving. Sam and Taylor are the best , most knowledgeable, most friendliest people there and I would trust them with all of my family members.

If someone is looking for a community with good food, this is not it. Fried foods are served most meals and vegetables consist mostly of corn and potatoes (starches). This facility does not provide balanced meals and refuses to adjust for dietary needs of residents and their response to requests is they are not required by law to do so, demonstrating their real lack of concern for residents basic dietary needs. The Chef, will not be told what to make and rules the kitchen with an iron hand. The Executive Director is a nice person who lacks the ability or authority to improve the facility or its operations. The executive director provides mouth service to appease both residents and their families. The staff has slowly improved over the last year or so, likely due to a new hiring manager. Be aware that this facility is 1.5X more costly than its counterparts in the area without being able to identify what unique service they provide that warrants this higher cost over their counterparts. I reviewed food being provided by 2 other facilities while in Morehead City and nearby cities and by far this facility had the worse food for geriatric residents.

The staff at Carteret Landing goes above & beyond and are great team!! They treat the residents like family here and have made my mom feel very welcome and a part of that family. If you have to place an older relative, this is the place I'd choose everytime!!

I cannot say enough great things about the team at Carteret Landing. While my mom was only there a short period of time, the compassion, kindness, and care she received was outstanding. Everyone in the community is truly treated as a member of the family, and the staff went above and beyond to work with and advise me on how to best accommodate my mom's needs. I would not hesitate to recommend Carteret Landing to anyone seeking a caring environment for a loved one.

We moved my Aunt into Carteret Landing on April 28, 2025, and paid the $2,500 community fee at that time. Regrettably, shortly after arrival, it became clear that the facility was unable to meet her diabetic care needs”a condition she had prior to admission. As a result, she was asked to leave the community, and departed on July 25, 2025. During this period, she was hospitalized from July 5 until her belongings were removed from the facility on July 25. While I acknowledge that the community fee is typically non-refundable, the fact remains that she was asked to vacate due to a medical condition existing at admission”circumstances that were beyond our control and hindered the intended duration and quality of her stay. Given this situation, and that her actual residency totaled just under three months, I respectfully requested a partial refund of the community fee paid. I believe this request was reasonable, considering that she did not receive the full duration of care and residency that was envisioned, nor could the facility accommodate her essential medical needs. Unfortunately, not only did they return any of the $2500, they did not respond to the request.

Have been onboard since early August 2022 and am satisfied for the most part. Those of us that choose breakfast in our rooms experience late service, 8:00-8:30. Dining room is a prompt 7:30. During the Covid threat the dining room was closed and everyone was served in their room. All meals were served promptly. I am a resident of A Hall, rooms are with kitchenette. The microwave enables me to heat coffee and breakfast items. I am puzzled by the lack of climate control in the theater. I heard from the grape vine that the theater shares the same climate control as the hallways. The thermostat in the adjacent hallway is set and key locked at 73°F. The room temperature in the theater is about 10°F lower. I question the wisdom of isolating this space from direct temperature control and circulation of air. Requiring residents to use blankets to seek comfort during movie showings is not friendly. I have been told that all other large spaces are individually climate controlled. The lack of direct climate control in the theater is a situation local health departments may not support. Thank you for an ear.

Lin and Ryan are great people, as were everyone else we've met. You can tell this is not just a vocation but an avocation. We have a family friend who loves the assisted living side and the memory care unit was a great fit for Mom. The facility is beautiful and the location is super convenient.
