When I first visited Brookdale Alzheimer's and Memory Care, Chris in Sales kindness, empathy and understanding of what I needed for my dad. It took me a while afterwards to realize I had just spoke with someone from sales. She is part of a family there and you really get that feeling with the staff there. My dad thrived there, was checked on and cared for hourly, always clean & his room clean as well (for years we struggled to care for his needs). My dad is still there. Sadly, he went to the hospital and his heart is failing him. I was told I needed to get him hospice services. Immediately, when given choices between a hospice house, hospital, and so on, we thought about asking if he could stay at Brookdale Memory Care. They could accommodate him and a hospice team! He is constantly cared for: shaved, bathed, changed and looked after. The caregivers know him well, tell me stories about their conversations and more. A caregiver popped in yesterday and asked us about his past, his profession and wanted to know him more. I've never met one person who works here who doesn't care about these people. Not only that, but they approach these people the way you should approach someone with dementia and memory issues. I forgot to mention Bobby, the executive director, a very compassionate man and helpful in every way, Michelle and Shannon, who helped my dads transition with hospice and do an amazing job. Truly, there can't be a better Memory Care in the 3-4 counties' Memory Cares that I've visited. It isn't possible. I mean it. It breaks my heart to say my dad's end of life will be here, but I cannot imagine him in better hands.

My mother's dementia has gotten worse and it is piece of mind that she lives there and gets great care. When I can't go visit, I know she is being taken care of, and that helps my stress level, as I am the adult child. I would recommend Brookdale to anyone.

Although it may take awhile for your loved one to accept living anywhere but their own home, if they have to do it, Brookdale is the only place I'd want someone I love to be! Go ahead, visit other facilities and you will quickly see the difference! Brookdale is awesome! My mother is in the assisted living facility and my brother is in the memory care facility next door. They are both being cared for very well--and that is NOT an easy job to do! My sister and I are thrilled with Brookdale! I highly recommend it because they have fabulous staff and that makes all the difference! And no, I'm not related to any of those employees I'm raving about. They're just great!

I was very disappointed with our experience at BD Monroe. The sales rep assured me as well as the Wellness Director that they could take care of my husband, who is a high functioning, very active resident. He had been there 2 weeks only when the Admin Dir (who I have never spoken to before this encounter) and the Wellness Director notified me that my husband was "not a good fit" for their community then proceeded to tell me that I would either need to come and get my husband or hire a 24 hour sitter to watch him. They didn't have the staff or time to manage him. This facility is supposed to be trained in redirecting and helping engage and make connections with Alz residents. Long story short, I never saw this happen. I had to hire a sitter to "manage" my husband until we could find another place for him. PLEASE be aware that this facility is NOT equipped to redirect and engage with high functioning Alzheimer's patients.

I give Brookdale Senior Living a 2 star because of the following. Every single time I go to check on my mother, she has no briefs in her room or her restroom when I try to find her assigned resident assistant for that day. No one is ever around except for a few housekeepers. The past 5 visits with my mother her room has been disgusting. No briefs/depends in her bathroom and we pay for those for her. Her bathroom always smells like poop and forever lingering urine. The housekeeper assigned to my mother's room is an older lady from up North somewhere. Every time I've spoken to this lady she has always had a very bad attitude and a demeanor about herself that shows she does not have time or the patience for The Elder. She has also made comments to us like " I don't have time to sit and talk with them I'm not responsible if they have what they need or not I just make sure the room is clean but you can pull the help string and ask the RA". Myself and my wife have sat there for at least 2 hours at a time and during that two hours no one came to my mother's room or even bothered to see why the help cord was pulled two hours ago. I have walked in circles at this location and see no one unless behind a glass door standing in a room laughing and cutting up with each other. There is a younger lady who stated to me and my wife that she just started a few weeks ago but said to us "I'm so sorry for your troubles they may be assisting another resident or maybe in a meeting. But give me a second and I'll go grab someone for you". Then someone comes to my mother's room and acts if they were extremely busy and didn't know my mother had no underwear or even acknowledge that her help cord had been pulled. They say I'll go get you some briefs for your mother and but never come back. The young lady whom is a housekeeper but name badge says Resident Assistant sees my wife walking down the hall and asked if she needs anything and makes sure my wife mother and myself have been taken care of and got what we needed. And says if you need anything I'm happy to help just look for my cleaning cart. All with a smile on her face and dripping in sweat because apparently the Air Conditioning System wasn't working correctly because it's was approximately 82 in my mother's room. She was busy cleaning and taking care of other resident rooms but took time out of her busy schedule to help us. This place is absolutely unstable. The workers don't care about the residents and do not care about their employees either. The lady from the north was not addressed once for her nasty attitude when we reported her to a lady name Tony and also the coordinator Wanda. Because she still shows a nasty attitude towards us every time we visit my mother. Don't get me wrong their are a few that actually care and you can tell by the way they smile and do what they can to assist you. Even if they're busy or not on the clock. The young lady that just started a few weeks ago was yelled at by the other housekeeper and a older lady for helping residents and was told you don't have time to help them you have to get these rooms cleaned. There's also a midage lady with short blonde hair and glasses that is always polite, a skinny white lady with brownish hair, and a light skin skinny lady with glasses that are also helpful and smell at us. All these ladies work the morning hours I believe is called first shift. If my mother were a little younger I'd move her to a different assisted living facility. You guys need to actually show you care and respect your residents and employees that actually care. You should not reprimand one of your workers for going out of their way to assist someone regardless of their job title or experience. If a person is eager to help those things do not matter. I'm so disappointed in this place and I really wish we would have never placed my mother and a facility that was ran so crookedly.

Mom Loves It! My mother has been living here for about 6 weeks and today she told me she felt as if she were at a resort. Her exact words. She loves the big rockers on the front porch and all of the trees surrounding the property have been in bloom. She says that everyone of the staff is just incredibly kind. She is not crazy about the food, but tha, of course is subjective.
