I moved to Scotia Village five years ago. My husband had died and I realized I had no business being in that two story house and caring for the house and yard alone. I already knew one person here and knew that my home church had some part in getting Scotia started years ago. Moving here has been a wonderful move. I have made many friends - easy since all of us have moved from somewhere else! My apartment is a good fit with plenty of activities to choose from. Health care is available when needed. I can cook, but rarely do. Yes, this was a good move for me!

I’ve been here 4 years and the time has flown. Made many good friends. Lots of activities, or none, as you wish. Great decision to come to Scotia.

We moved here 2 years ago and are enjoying independent living in a 1600 square foot patio home with garage, great food and new friends for life. You can really retire here, or fail retirement and get involved in the adjacent small town community of 15,000 people.

Our move to Scotia Village continues to be one of the best decisions we have made. We were welcomed immediately and have made lasting connections and friendships with fellow residents. The caring, attentive and responsive staff make us feel safe, comfortable and cared-for. There are activities galore that offer us opportunities to be active physically, mentally, and socially. We do, indeed, love where we live!

The 2 stars is due to management. This place is great so long as the resident can advocate for themselves. If they can't, you can't be certain they're receiving their meds. They have a nurse that works 3 jobs. So, while she's at SV, she's apparently too tired to give meds but has no problem documenting that she does. She makes a lot of mistakes. But, even after being reported, not one member of management, all the way up to the Director, sees a problem with her withholding meds from residents with memory deficits. She's just a warm body. And they're OK with it. Fortunately, there are some great nurses there. But any one of them will be thrown under the bus to protect this one awful nurse. It makes no sense.

My husband and I moved to Scotia Village 6-months ago. We live independently in a lovely home within walking distance of the main building, for dining and the many activities available daily. From day one, we’ve been impressed with the residents and staff, they couldn’t be more welcoming and friendly. We are happy with our decision to move here, after looking at many other retirement communities.

The friendliness of the residents was so overwhelming. The evening could have lasted all evening. It was such a delight to be a part of the Christmas holiday celebration! Everyone sat with such anticipation as the next song was performed. Many of the residents of Scotia Village attend the church services; which are just down the road in walking distance. After the performance Mel and her accompanist and I were invited to dine in the beautiful dining hall. Dinner was wonderful. It is so nice to see that seniors are still full of life and thoroughly enjoying the Arts.
