I have personally watched Sales Director Sherri R. pour into the residents by planning fun and engaging Christmas sing-alongs and special holiday events. I cannot adequately express my gratitude and high esteem for Brookdale East in Hendersonville, NC. When life handed our family circumstances beyond our control and we needed a place for my 94 year old grandmother to call home, Brookdale answered our call. I had promised my very active and independent grandmother that I would never put her in one of those places. Never say never! We have found Brookdale to be an excellent alternative to what we never wanted. My Nanny continues to live an independent life but with the support and comfort that I was struggling to provide. From the 3 terrific meals in the restaurant style dining room, the weekly housekeeping, the planned activities and daily interaction with her peers and staff, my mind is always at ease when it comes to her comfort and safety. I am able to visit her daily and have made many new friends myself. If you find yourself in a situation where you need a solution for a place for an aging loved one, consider Brookdale! It’s one of the very best decisions we have made!

The residents were all friendly and they all seemed happy to be there! They have a lot of activities for the residents. The facility was very clean and welcoming.

After touring 9 of the more affordable independent living options 1 hour around the Asheville area, it’s Brookdale Hendersonville East that remains my first choice for my parents, for whom I’m seeking more oversight & community than some IL communities offer. The professionalism & kindness of staff and the warmth with which all received us is mostly why. Like I heard Brookdale East’s Activities Director Jayce say, We may not be the shiniest penny in the drawer, but we may have the biggest heart. It captured the conclusion I’d been coming to. Re facilities, Brookdale IL offered a rare combination of homeyness and aesthetics I hadn’t found elsewhere. From the outside I admit I was dubious, since the building is older, but sturdy, unlike newer construction can seem. But once inside, I appreciated the care given to the surroundings, so I felt cozy and at ease, without the design seeming sterile or conspicuous, as it can in newer facilities. The apartments seemed tastefully, neutrally appointed. Location was tucked away enough from traffic that I couldn’t see or hear highway. Re community, I noticed residents where out and about, mingling, not just shut away in their units, as it seemed at some other locations. Many shared with me how much they like it there. The activities options seemed robust, especially their new show kitchen. Re staff, from the friendly greeting at the front desk and kindness of the handyman who’d been there years, to the physical therapist’s candor and activities director’s genuine effervescence, I was very impressed. But hands down, the staff who won me over most was Brookdale East’s Sales Manager, Sherri Redden. What an asset it seems to me Brookdale has in Sherri: her sincere belief in Brookdale & relationships with residents, her generosity of time & spirit, her knowing just how to be with my parents, her follow through & availability. The staff who won me over second was Brookdale Asheville Overlook Assisted Living’s Sales Manger Kelley Freeman, whom Sherri sent me to visit with my questions about continuing care. Kelley likewise gave me the gift of much of her time, insider perspectives from her career in elder care, and understanding of why she now dedicates her service to Brookdale. Once I convince my parents to relocate, it will be chiefly thanks to Sherri & Kelley that I choose Brookdale for them.

Took my brother to see this facility in person to decide if this was the place for him. Arriving on the premises the grounds were very well kept with flowers,plants and decore at entryway. Entering the building the lobby was clean and filled with fresh smells. The coffee bar was inviting with homemade cookies to offer. Now to meet with Ms. Sherri. I can't say enough about her welcoming demeanor and sweet smile. So professional and answered all our questions. Right away she made you feel at home. We even ate lunch which was delicious. Walking around the property up and down floors and hallways the atmosphere was again clean with nice odors. Everyone on staff was very polite and nice. The residents seemed so happy as they went about their day. Everyone went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Not sure if my brother will choose this place but I think he would be right at home here. For me, it will most definitely be my choice when and if my time comes for this Independant living. So, if your in the market for yourself, family or friends, look no further, this is the place to call home.

My mom has been at Brookdale Hendersonville East for 6 years. I can't say enough about how helpful and caring each and every person who works there has been with my Mom. They truly create a family environment and make every effort to meet the needs of each resident. In the words of my 96 year old Mom, "If you need to be in a place like this, this is the BEST one to be in.". Look no further if you are looking for an independent living option for your loved one!! You won't regret it!

My Mom has just moved in about a month ago. She is have a good experience. She is making friends and the staff are making sure she is happy. She has a pleasant view and an ample size room. The food is very good and the menu is expansive enough. The building is in a nice apple farm area. Lot of farms and vineyards nearby. The staff have been extremely supportive during the move in.

My mom, my siblings, and I loved Brookdale Hendersonville East the most for its staff and their passion for empowering the elderly. They work hard to provide tools that promote health and longevity. They are a compassionate, loving, and supportive team that spread happiness and hope. My mother made friends, laughed, attended their workshops and events, and loved every minute. Her quality of life was heightened through their caring and support. She was able to have her 18 year old dog, Cooper, with her and everyday she was there I received a happy and excited phone call. Sadly, her diseased progressed and her beautiful spirit exited her body peacefully on 10/21/23. It brings me tears of comfort and joy as I reflect on our good times at Brookdale. Thank you Andria, Jayce, Lee, and Flash to name a few. We are forever grateful. —°

It is a beautiful facility but I have been told by several residents about the food. Apparently, it is always cold. It would help if there were covers on each plate. Maybe it would taste better if it was warm. There is also a worry about having to change all Dr appts due to the new bus schedule. It sounds like some hiring of kitchen help & bus drivers is in order. I do appreciate all that you do and realize help is hard to get. But, these folks should be top priority. Food is one of the few enjoyments these dear ones have left, and it should be hot and tasty. They are paying for good food and transportation to appts. The facility is very clean and inviting.

My mom’s social life is active for the first time in a long time. There are always activities and they vary to meet the interests of everyone. Choosing Brookdale was the best decision, my mom is thriving.

(Would rate this 4.5 stars, but 4 seemed too low) My mother stayed at Brookdale for her last 9.5 years... Brookdale bought out Emeritus' Pine Park several years ago... Regardless, my mother was very happy there. Hendersonville is a nice place to be... friendly people, shopping, proximity to Asheville, etc. The building was in good shape and they recently did a renovation (carpets, etc). My mother stayed in a studio that was reasonably priced and increases were a reasonable 4% per year. I handled her finances and felt like this was good value. The staff was super friendly (southern charm?), always helpful and I saw that they were very patient with the residents. The dining room staff were also always pleasant and worked hard to ensure the residents received their meals. I like that there was a "cafeteria plan" for additional services needed... especially if a resident is temporarily sick and needs a surge of help for a short while... and at a reasonable cost. They really helped us throw a 90th birthday party for her, too. That would be my last in-person visit with her and she was very happy and the staff was terrific! I would visit 2-3x per year and my mother was very happy there. Plenty of activities, 3 meals per day, a shuttle to take them to banks, stores, dr appts, etc. I had several conversation with leadership (director, physical therapist, others) and felt like they really cared about my mother and wanted a sound solution to whatever the topic was. Really easy to work with. And, they really shined when my mother needed hospice... fully accommodated the hospice equipment, let my sister stay in her studio (24/7) and specifically stated that Brookdale was her home (for 9+ years) and she should be comfortable in her home. Even after she passed, the Brookdale staff was sympathetic and accommodating for us to pack up her room. After discussions with the staff, we were happy to leave selected items that were needed by other residents. Based on care and financial considerations, we were very pleased with Brookdale and happy that it was my mother's home for the last 9.5 years of her life.
